How Long Do You Steam Artichokes In An Instant Pot
If you are wondering how long does it take to cook artichokes in a pressure cooker, the answer will depend on the size of each artichoke globe. A medium size artichoke usually cooks in about 18 to 20 minutes.
Harvesting time also has an effect on the overall texture of the artichoke. For example, artichokes harvested in early spring and summer take less time to cook than the ones harvested during late summer and fall. Please dont let this discourage you. - Medium Artichokes: 13-15 minutes

And no doubt, if you enjoy making slow-cooked roasts, or shredded chicken and pulled pork, and if you love whipping up big, comforting pots of soups and chilis I think an Instant Pot is definitely something to consider.
Its also probably a good bet if youre even a little bit excited to branch out into types of cooking that maybe used to seem too time consuming to ever fit into your busy schedule things like the risottos we mentioned, and those dried beans and whole grains .

If you live on stir-fries, or grill pretty much every meal, or just adore the toasty results you get from oven-roasting, then you might want to consider whether an Instant Pot is going to add the kind of cooking options youll enjoy.
In the end, I think its probably worth a try for most busy home cooks. Even though I definitely consider myself a fairly novice Instant Pot user, I can already see so much potential, so many new strategies that an Instant Pot will open up for me.

Want More Practice Bring It Back To Pressure
Try it again with the same hot water. This time, press Manual and then adjust the 30 minute default time by pressing the button, then press the + button to go up. Lets do 10 minutes.
You may notice how, if you press Manual and take too long before pressing the other buttons, the cooker will just beep on its own and proceed for 30 a minute pressure cooking time. If you need to re-start, just press Cancel/Keep Warm and start over.
Since the water is in your cooker is already almost boiling to begin with, the cooker will come to pressure a lot faster than it did the first timewithin a minute or so. Itll hiss, then the hissing will abruptly stop as the pressure indicator button goes up. If the hissing just keeps on going, its probably because you left the valve in the venting position instead of sealed. Just use your spoon handle to nudge it back.
What next? Same as before: the cooker beeps, the readout will say 10, and then it will switch to LO:00. You can do quick or natural release, whichever floats your boat.
Instant Pot Beef Curry
This rich, savory Japanese-style beef curry is typically made with little blocks of store-bought Japanese curry roux. Since the dish comes together so fast in an Instant Pot®, we use the time gained to make a homemade roux with basic pantry ingredients. Combined with Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, grated apple and beef broth, the result is a mildly sweet, spicy curry packed with extra umami. You can serve it over white rice or udon noodles. You can also make it without the beef and pour the sauce over Japanese-style breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlets .

How To Convert Slow Cooker Recipes To Your Instant Pot
The Spruce / Diana Rattray
The slow cooker plays an important role in the kitchen for busy families, but there are times when you need a meal in a hurry. The “Instant Pot” can produce a tender pot roast, a hearty beef stew, tender beans, and shredded pulled pork in a fraction of the time, and the pot can even handle many dishes a slow cooker can’t. There are even settings for rice and yogurt.
Another bonus, there’s no need to dirty another pan if you have to steam or sauté food before pressure cookingthe Instant Pot has settings for steaming and sautéing foods.
For dishes like scalloped potatoes, many casseroles, and desserts, you can use silicone muffin cups and pans, metal pans, ceramic baking dishes, and oven-safe glass containers. There are also many pans made for the Instant Pot, including cake pans, steamers, and nonstick pans. When using a pan in the Instant Pot pan, remember to add at least 1 cup of water to the Instant pot pan, place a trivet or steam rack in the pot, and place the pan on the trivet or rack.
If you have a favorite slow cooker recipe, but don’t have all day, make it in your Instant Pot! Here are some basic guidelines for converting slow cooker and crockpot recipes for the Instant Pot.
The Spruce / Julie Bang
Meat Poultry And Stews
Generally, if your slow cooker meat, soup, or stew recipe calls for 8 hours on the low setting or about 4 hours on the high setting, it should be fully cooked in about 25 to 30 minutes in the Instant Pot. For chicken or turkey, use the 15-minute poultry button.
While volume doesn’t matter, density does. Roasts and large, thick pieces of meat will take longer, and a baking dish filled to a 3-inch depth will take longer to cook than a baking dish filled to a 2-inch depth. Cut large roasts into smaller pieces for faster cooking.
Frozen meat can be cooked in the pressure cooker as well, but you will need to add about 10 minutes to the total cooking time. If the meat doesn’t look done after the pressure is released, put the lid back on and cook it at high pressure for another 5 to 10 minutes.

How To Make Tender Pulled Pork In An Instant Pot Whether You Want To Slow Cook Or Pressure Cook
- Pulled pork is flavorful and batchable – it’s also easy to make in an Instant Pot.
- Use pork shoulder or butt for the best results, and sear it beforehand for a richer flavor.
- Pressure cook pulled pork for an hour or slow cook for up to 16 hours for incredibly tender meat.
Proper pulled pork demands respect. It’s comforting and feeds a crowd. People travel miles to eat it when it’s prepared by the masters. And, as intimidating as it may seem, it’s actually quite doable to make at home.
Though it’s not a traditional approach, the Instant Pot can make this process even simpler.
We spoke with two experts on Southern cooking, the Atlanta-based Janet A. Zimmerman, author of “Instant Pot Obsession” , and Chapel Hill-based Sheri Castle, author of “Instantly Southern” and host of the new PBS show The Key Ingredient.
Zimmerman’s method uses the pressure cooker function while Castle’s uses the slow cooker function.
