A Glass Lid For The Instant Pot
There are a few pros and cons of buying the glass lid. I bought one, and I like it, and I use it regularly. However, your mileage may vary.
The glass lid is great at preventing splatter when youre using the saute or the keep warm function.
Using the glass lid at a picnic or pot luck would come in handy, so people could look in and see what was in there. I would probably still use the regular lid for transporting since it locks in, along with the carrying case, just in case you had a hamburger soup incident like me. #facepalm
The lid makes storing leftovers in the refrigerator a cinch just lift the insert out of the Instant Pot and pop on the lid. It doesnt get any easier than that.
You can also use the glass lid when you use your Instant Pot as a slow cooker. But, you can use the regular pressure cooking lid for this too, so I find this to be a bit of a moot point.
Ill admit it does seem a bit extraneous if youre buying the lid for the slow cooking purpose only. Sure, you can see your food, but unless thats really important to you, it might be something that takes up more space than its worth.
Generally, when Im slow cooking, I use my 8qt Instant Pot, and I dont have a glass lid for that, only the 6qt version. Perhaps I would use it more for this function if I had glass lids for both.

Instant Pot Accessories That Are Worth It

The lid fits on top of the Instant Pot, turning it into a mini convection oven that adds roasting, baking, broiling, reheating, and dehydrating functions to the multi-cookers already long list of programs. But while it saves you from buying yet another space-hogging appliance, its not exactly compact: Its 11 inches wide and 7 inches tall. And its not compatible with all Instant Pot models, so be sure to check here before you buy.
The lid comes with an air-fryer basket that you slip into the Instant Pots stainless steel inner pot. The downside is that the 3.5-quart basket is quite small. It may not make sense for large families, but its just right for couples or people cooking for one, or if youre willing to do multiple batches.
Though you need the basket to crisp up fries, you can use the air-fryer lid with just the Instant Pots stainless steel pot to brown and bake. I pressure-cooked a whole chicken in the stainless steel pot and swapped out the lid for the air-fryer lid to crisp up the skin. The result was a tender, juicy chicken with golden-brown skin.

Steamer Baskets Racks & Trivets That Fit In An Instant Pot
The OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Steamer is my favorite steamer for the pressure cooker. Its perfect for steaming vegetables, but my favorite use is keeping the potatoes out of the water when I cook my Quick Pressure Cooker Potato Salad, Cheesy Potatoes Au Gratin, and Chunky Potato Cheese Soup, so the potatoes stay chunky and firm but also tender.
Oxo also makes a flexible silicone pressure cooker steamer that works great, but I still find myself reaching for the stainless steel version. If you prefer a mesh basket strainer, I like this one with Stainless Metal Strainer with Nonstick Feet.
When cooking pot-in-pot, youll absolutely need a trivet. I have three that I love. The tall 2.7 Stainless Steel Steam Rack/Trivet is a must-have when cooking chicken in the bottom of the pot and rice above. The shorter trivet is useful when you have tall ingredients like a butternut squash or are stacking ramekins or mason jars on top of each other.
My newest trivet is the red OXO Good Grips Pressure Cooker SlingI really love using the handles to remove hot pans from the pressure cooker.
Instant Pot Egg Bite Mold
I recently purchased an Instant Pot egg bite mold and I actually really like it! This is a silicone mold that you can use to cook in your Instant Pot.

Sealing Rings Red And Blue
Extra gasketsor, as they call them here, sealing ringsare a huge plus. I recommend them to anyone who uses an Instant Pot once a week or more. Have you ever made chili and then had that chili smell lurk in the gasket for ages? And you want to make cheesecake and not have it tinged with chili? There are hacks that supposedly get rid of the lingering odor, but Ive tried them, and none of them work.
Having two gaskets on hand is the best solution. Theyre color-coded so you can remember: use red for chili/curry/etc., blue for delicates.
Plus, if you store your IP correctly and use it a lot, the gaskets can stretch out and the pot wont come to pressure. This way, you always have an extra on deck.

Also, those time sheets/magnets/charts with cooktimes- ehh. I dont think they are a good resource since every chart Ive seen online doesnt seem accurate to me. Unless it guide comes from a blogger or recipe creator you absolutely trust, I wouldnt spend money on it.
