Is Instapot Duo Plus Easy To Use
The Instant Duo Plus has gone through multiple overhauls since it was first released back in 2012. Heres a side-by-side comparison of how the control panel evolved.
As you can see, the newer interface is much cleaner and user-friendly. It also has a progress indicator and better lighting. The company also added a sous vide button in lieu of 3 redundant functions.
The most significant upgrade of the Instant Pot IP Duo Plus can be found in/on the lid. Its now auto sealing and releasing the pressure has been made a little safer than the original Duo model. Its older sibling will also have this upgrade soon, but I havent seen it yet.
Those are nice updates, but to answer the question directly, multicookers have a moderate learning curve. Its intimidating at first, but youll get used to it the more you cook with it.

To Turn the Sound On and Off: Plug in the Duo Plus, then press and hold Delay Start and Keep Warm for5 seconds. The message display shows Sound Off or On.
To Change the to Fahrenheit or Celsius: Plug in the Duo Plus, then press and hold the center dial for 5 seconds. The message display will show Temp Unit F or Temp Unit C, depending on the change.

The Instant Pot Duo Plus, a.k.a Instapot Duo Plus, Instant Duo Plus, Instant Pot 9-in-1, or simply the IP Duo Plus, has gone several upgrades since it was released almost a decade ago.
In fact, this model is already the third iteration featuring a more refined look and better control panel. It has more cooking functions than its predecessor, and sous vide is one of those.

What The Duo Crisp With Ultimate Lid Does
Unlike any Instant Pot before it, the Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid has air fryer functionality built into the main lid. Because of this convection cooking element, you can air fry, broil, bake and roast all cooking methods that most Instant Pots dont offer. It also has most of the functionality of your basic Instant Pot multicooker including pressure cook, slow cook, steam and sauté.
While you wont have to screw on a bulky conical air fryer lid attachment as you do for the original Duo Crisp, you will have to slide in the pressure cooker lid when you want to pressure or slow cook. However, that lid is very light and thin measuring no more than 2 inches high it shouldnt be hard to find space for one.
I found the dials and controls simple to use, but Im not used to air fryers that require preheat time.

I just cooked pot roast for the very first time in my life, I always wanted to do this but was scared I might ruin it. Seared the meat ,took it out cooked onions put the pot roast and added liquid,then added vegetables ,but they came out a little soft but was ok for me , then one hour cooking time, and I couldnt believe it that meat was falling off so TENDER unbelievable!!! Why Did I Get A Burn Notice On The Instant Pot Duo Plus
When the Instant Pot Duo Plus reads FOOD BURN, the first things to check are:
- Does the inner pot have enough liquid?
- Are any food deposits stuck to the bottom of the inner pot?
If youve gotten the burn notice, remove the inner cooking pot from the base. Check for debris inside the pressure cooker housing or on the outside of the stainless steel cooking pot.
Then check the cooking pot.
If just a little food has burned onto the bottom of the cooking pot, scoop the food into a separate bowl and scrape the burned parts away. Return the food to the cooking pot. At this point, you can add more liquid to the pressure cooking pot and try another pressure cooking cycle. Or you can transfer the pot to the stove or oven and stir while you finish cooking.
If a lot of food has burned on, youll be able to taste the burnt taste throughout and, unfortunately, you may have to discard the meal. Soak and scrub off the burned foods. Barkeepers friend is a useful cleaner to help remove stubborn stains.
In the future, be sure to add more liquid to the pot and avoid ingredients containing thickeners like canned soups or prepackaged spaghetti sauces.

We reviewed the 6 quart/ 5.7 liter capacity Instant Pot Duo Plus and the size and footprint is similar to the other Instant Pots of this size. It measures 12.9 x 12.2 x 13.4 inches/ 33.5 x 31 x 33cm and the US model weighs in at 11.5 pounds while the UK version weighs 5.6kg. Generally speaking, these appliances are designed to stay on your countertop, but this one isnt too heavy to lift in and out of a cupboard if you prefer to hide it away. Plus, all the accessories including the power cord fit inside the pot, making it neater to store.
The chicken was pleasingly tender and succulent, falling off the bone and at 210oF/ 99oC, was certainly cooked through. In just 33 minutes the curry was perfectly cooked and flavorsome.
