- Use around two cups of water or broth per 1/2 lb. of rice noodles youd like to cook.
- Cook at HIGH pressure for 1 minute and let the pot naturally release for an additional 4 minutes before performing a quick release.
- If youre cooking your noodles alone, drain and rinse them to prevent further cooking.
- If youre cooking your noodles with veggies for a soup dish or something similar, give everything a stir and turn the heat off in the Instant Pot to prevent overcooking. Use veggies like chopped carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, and greens that will also cook in the brief two-minute time period.

What Kind Of Rice Do You Use For The Instant Pot
You can make any type of rice in the Instant pot but the cooking times and water amount you use will vary.
I personally love making Jasmine and Basmati rice and for these 2 varieties I use a 1-1 ratio of rice and water.
Here are some useful tips for different kinds of rice:
- Brown Rice: 1.5 cups of water and 1 cup of rice. Cook for 22 minutes at high pressure and allow 10-minute natural release followed by a quick release.
- Wild Rice: 2.5 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. Cook at high pressure for 20 minutes and allow for full natural release.
- Jasmine Rice: 1 cup of water and 1 cup of rice. Cook at high pressure for 6 minutes and allow for 6 minutes of natural release followed by a quick release.
- Basmati Rice: 1 cup of water to 1 cup of rice. Cook at high pressure for 6 minutes and allow for 6 minutes of natural release followed by a quick release.

Here Is How To Cook Quinoa In Instant Pot
- You dont need to soak your quinoa, but you should rinse it prior to cooking.
- Use a 1:1.25 grain to water ratio. For one cup of quinoa, use one and a quarter cup of water.
- Set the Instant Pot on Manual, to one minute , and cook on high pressure.
- Let the pressure release naturally for five minutes before turning the valve to release the rest of the steam.

What Is An Instant Pot / Pressure Cooker

This is probably the only difference between cooking other types of rice. I often get asked why we need to soak Japanese short grain rice. Unlike the other types of rice, Japanese short grain rice is plump, and it takes time for the moisture to go through. Therefore, we always soak the rice first, giving the dry rice a head start in absorbing moisture.

If theres one thing we find magical about Instant Pots, its how quickly and perfectly they cook chicken and rice. The rice is the perfect texture and the chicken is insanely tender. This is the meal we cook in the Instant Pot the most often.
IMPORTANT! If using newer versions of Instant Pot, especially 8-quart capacity models, we recommend removing the inner pot after sautéing and letting it cool off for 5 to 10 minutes before moving on to the pressure cooking stage. This will help prevent a potential burn warning.

How To Make Quick Coconut Rice In An Instant Pot
I especially love this dish because its a quick and easy dump-and-go recipe. Unlike making rice on the stovetop, theres no babysitting or worrying about a messy spill of coconut milk.
With an Instant Pot / pressure cooker, all you need to do is add Jasmine rice, unsweetened coconut milk, water, and a bit of sugar and salt for flavoring to the pressure cooking pot. Seal the lid, set the cook time, and walk away.
Note: While some electric pressure cookers have a Rice button, I dont recommend using it for this recipe. Coconut milk may affect how the pressure cooker comes to pressure.

- For a fully cooked and chewy texture, use a 1:1 rice to water ratio for around 20 minutes on HIGH pressure. Let it sit for five additional minutes before using the quick release.
- If you enjoy softer rice that isnt so chewy, simply add another ¼ cup of water to the pot before cooking. Cook for 20 minutes and let the pressure release naturally all the way. We find that this Instant Pot method produces excellent brown rice every time.

Exactly How Long Do I Cook The Rice
While the exact amount of water you use depends on how you like your rice, the exact length of time you cook your rice depends upon your specific conditions. For example, altitude can make a big difference. If you are cooking a large amount of rice, you may need to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time. Thats why we provide a range of times for different varieties of rice.
The goal is to stop cooking when all the water has been absorbed by the rice. If you open the cooker, give it a stir, and find theres still unabsorbed water in the inner pot, then youll need to cook it a bit longer.

Instant Pot Rice Pudding
Last but not least, lets cover the basics of rice pudding. Like with risotto, youre going for a very specific texture here while cooking your rice with things besides water, so its important to note a few distinctions between techniques. Remember to be mindful of what type of rice you buy. Please note you can use dairy milk in place of the almond milk and coconut milk recommendation.
- Begin with short-grain white rice, which is sometimes also sold as pudding rice. No doubt you know what to make with it!
