Serve these flavorful mini omelettes with a healthy side dish, such as our incredibly tasty Italian Salad for a light lunch.

What You Need To Make Egg Bites

Instead of needing a sous vide machine, this recipe is made in an electric pressure cooker in silicone egg bite molds. The moist heat keeps these egg bites just as light and fluffy as they turn out in sous-vide cooking.

This base recipe for egg bites starts with eggs, cottage cheese, salt, and pepper. The cottage cheese will keep the egg bites super creamy and flavorful.

As for what else to add, the options are up to you!

Gouda Cheese Is Sure To Please

Gouda is a creamy, full flavored, semi-hard yellow cheese from The Netherlands. I find it to be the perfect flavor and texture for egg bites. Just 3oz, about ¼ cup of freshly shredded gouda will do. Fire roasted red peppers are something you should keep in your pantry. They come in small jars and are wonderful in so many recipes. For this recipe, we dice up about ¼ cup full. For the spinach, I like to use a handful of fresh spinach, which comes out to about ½ cup. And heres special step that really makes a difference saute the diced red peppers and spinach in a little butter for about a minute in your Instant Pot. Then simply spoon the mixture into the silicone egg bite cups. I like fresh spinach SO much more than frozen, and this little extra step makes all the difference.

How To Make Egg Bites In The Oven

If you dont have the Instant Pot, you can also use this recipe and bake the egg bites in the oven. To do this, place the silicone mold filled with the egg mixture on a sturdy baking sheet to keep them steady. Bake at 350ºF until the center of the egg bites have set, about 40 to 45 minutes. They will rise out of the mold a LOT during the baking process , but keep in mind that they will deflate as they cool!

Can I Freeze Egg Bites

Yes, absolutely. Cook and cool egg bites. Pop in an airtight glass container with a lid and freeze for up to 3 months. If you want to freeze in a resealable Ziploc bag, lay egg bites flat first and then toss deeper into the freezer with frozen egg bites. They are just delicate.

Let me start by saying I LOVE Starbucks sous vide egg bites. The coffee shop variety are technically cooked by a technique called sous vide.

Fancy, right?

Well, in plain speak, this means theyre gently cooked in a vacuum sealed plastic bag until theyre cooked.

But heres the good newsIf you have an Instant Pot and a silicone mold, you can achieve the same type of creamy, fluffy egg bites! They delicious not only as part of breakfast, but also as a healthy meal prep snack!

What Are Egg Bites

INSTANT POT BREAKFASTS USING SILICONE EGG BITE MOLD

Think of mini egg frittatas cooked in silicone egg pans into a dome shape. They are a perfect two to three bite omelet-type egg dish.

You may have tried egg bites at your local Starbucks. Starbuck’s egg bites are probably the reason Instant Pot egg bites have become so popular. The Starbuck’s egg bites recipe is loaded with cheeses and other ingredients cooked in a sous vide machine.

A great way to make copycat Starbucks egg bites is with a special egg bite mold and an electric pressure cooker at home. It’s one of those easy recipes to whip up and a favorite of the Instant Pot recipes for fast cooking time and great results. The moist heat cooks the eggs perfectly.

They can be eaten for any meal of the day, not just breakfast. Serve this Tex Mex version with some of our Mexican Cauliflower Rice and a green salad for lunch or dinner.

Making Egg Bites Without An Egg Bite Maker

Here’s a tip from the comments from reader Barb: If you don’t have any silicone egg molds, you can use use 4-ounce Ball canning jars. The recipe should be just enough to fill 6 of them. Because they’re glass, best to lower the time to 4 minutes, with 4 minutes of natural pressure release.

You can also use silicone muffin liners. You may need to play around with the cooking time.

Kale & Portobello Egg Bites

This version of Instant Pot egg bites is pretty straightforward, and if you are a mushroom fan, youre going to love the earthy flavors of kale and mushrooms together.

If you prefer another kind of mushroom, youre welcome to use that kind. I personally used baby Bella in my recipe testing so cannot attest to the taste with anything different.

Egg White & Red Pepper Bites

I wanted to recreate the popular Starbucks flavor by using egg whites and roasted red pepper, but something interesting happened the first time I tested this recipe the ingredients all floated to the top of the mold, as pictured above.

That means all of the toppings were on the bottom of the egg bite, leaving the rest of the egg bite totally plain. This didnt happen with my other egg bites using the whole egg only the egg whites.

You can get around this by adding your veggies, or other add ins, to the mold first, then pouring the egg white mixture over the top to fill the mold. The spinach still sometimes floats to the top, but the other ingredients disperse better!

Ive included two more flavor variations in the recipe below a simple Gruyere version , and a pizza version made with sun-dried tomatoes. I hope youll enjoy them!

How About Some Egg Bite Filling Options

Mix in any of your omelet or scramble faves. Just keep these tips in mind:

  • Add 1/2 cup of cheese, any meltable cheese will work.
  • If adding meat, 1/4 cup is a good amount.
  • If adding veggies, use 1/4 cup of each, and dont add more than 1/2 cup.
  • Dont add watery veggies, like tomatoes theyll prevent the bites from holding their shape.
  • Crumble/dice/grate meat and veggies into small pieces.

Can I Put The Lid Of My Egg Bite Molds In The Instant Pot

Yes, only if it is made of silicone. The egg bite mold is made of silicone, so if your lid is also made of that, you can put it in the Instant Pot. I recommend lightly putting the lid on your egg bite molds because it is mainly used to keep all the moisture out. I prefer using it over foil. If you have a plastic lid, it can only be used for storage such as freezing items such as baby food.

How Do These Egg Bites Compare To Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites

Instant Pot egg bite mold recipes: 9 different ways to use silicone egg bites molds

I am going to be completely transparent here and say that I have not gone back to the Starbucks version of these egg bites since I perfected the recipe save for one trip to the airport where I obviously could not break out my blender and Instant Pot.

Not only do these taste almost exactly the same as the ones you can buy, they dont contain all of the other stabilizers, starches, and powders.

I once had a diabetic tell me she couldnt wait until I got this recipe just right because all the starches in the Starbucks version made her blood sugar spike. If you dont know all the ingredients, you can easily trigger an allergy or reaction in something that is seemingly safe.

These Instant Pot egg bites recipes clear the air of any weird allergens or starches. Just plain and straightforward simple ingredients you might already have on hand, and results I am positive youre going to love.

Cheers to years of testing It was totally worth it!

The Best Instant Pot Egg Bites

We have discovered the famous Starbucks Egg Bites last year when weve stopped at our local Starbucks and ordered some Sous Vide Egg Bites. They were so charming, delicious and adorable, that we just fell in love with them. Not only they are cute and easy to make, but they are the perfect family breakfast.

Also, what is great about them is that kids adore them as much as adults. Every time we make them, our son just cant get enough. We decided to take it a step further and perfect the Starbucks version of this dish. Even though their version tastes good, we felt that it has too much cheese in it, and the flavors could be improved.

Thats why we decided to give this recipe a try and make it at home using the pressure cooker. Since I am not a fan of cottage cheese, we skipped that one and made our recipe with milk instead. This is a great healthy breakfast on the go or something that you can make ahead of time and reheat in the morning.

They are delicious, puffy, and very versatile. In addition, they are way healthier than the Starbucks version, and you can use your favorite filling to prepare them!

Base Recipe + Your Favorite Customizations

There are so many customizations that you can make with just a bit of creativity! Once you have the base recipe, you can literally add in almost anything. Here are some ideas:

Bacon and gruyere: Chop up two slices of bacon and use a 1/4 cup of gruyere cheese. Evenly divide amongst the egg bites.

Roasted red pepper and spinach: chop up 1/4 cup of roasted red peppers and baby spinach. Use 1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Evenly divide amongst the egg bites.

Sausage and cheese: use 1/2 cup of crumbled mild Italian sausage and 1/4 cup of shredded monterrey or colby jack cheese. Evenly divide amongst the egg bites.

Egg Bites Are Perfect For Breakfast On The Go

Instant Pot egg bites are excellent for a quick, protein packed breakfast on the go too. Ill often make 2 batches on the weekends, then we have them all week to bring to work, where a quick minute in the microwave heats them perfectly. Or the kids can eat them up quickly before school instead of a donut or pop-tart they seem to love to much.

Serve on a plate with some fresh ground black pepper and fresh parsley.

Heres How I Make My Egg Bites In The Instant Pot

Crack six eggs into your blender.

The blender does incorporate a bit of air to the egg whites which helps to keep the eggs fluffy, plus it makes sure everything is super well blended together and youll have a nice, yellow consistency throughout.

Add a handful of shredded cheese about half a cup to the eggs and blend until mixed.

    Stir in cooked, chopped bacon.

Hint: If youve made a batch of bacon in your oven and frozen it for later youre a rockstar! Just grab the slices and chopped em!

    Add salt & pepper.

Grease your silicone molds with some nonstick cooking spray.

Then, pour about a cup of water into your Instant Pot.

Pour the egg mixture into a silicone egg molds and add the top.

Set the manual pressure for 8 minutes, then let the pressure release naturally. You may see Instant Pot speak calling this NPR.

Release the remaining pressure by turning the valve to vent.

The eggs will puff up slightly after cooking but no worries, theyll settle down after they start to cool slightly.

Remove them from the pan while still warm or they tend to stick.
