Instant Pot Chicken Stock Recipe Ingredients

Carcass You need your leftover whole chicken or rotisserie chicken. It can be totally stripped bare or could still have a little chicken still attached. It will give a much better flavour if you have a little chicken still on the bone.

Veggies I recommend adding vegetables to the stock. They help with the flavour and combined with the carcass create the best instant pot chicken stock recipe.

Onion I also recommend that you start the chicken stock recipe with a sauté of an onion with extra virgin olive oil. You can use red or white and also add some garlic too.

Wine It adds such a lovely flavour to a stock if you deglaze your instant pot with some white wine.

Water You need a lot of water for your chicken stock. Avoid adding flavoured water or further stock cubes, as thats what you are making. Also avoid hot water because it will take the instant to pressure to quick and mess with the cook times.

Seasoning Then for seasoning, we are keeping it simple because your quick chicken broth will bring plenty of flavour. Salt, pepper, oregano, and tarragon are essential.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this chicken stock instant pot recipe, it has just been our instant pot pressure cooker. We have this oneand it is amazing for stocks and broths recipes.

So What Can You Cook With An Instant Pot

    LOTS of things!

You know me Ive been scouring the Internet to learn everything I can about Instant Pot cooking, and also reading lots of books.

Just yesterday, I made oatmeal, BBQ chicken sandwiches, and then coconut rice pudding all in my Instant Pot . This morning another oatmeal recipe. There are just so many possibilities, and its actually really fun!

The basic functions are straight-forward, and clearly delineated for each Instant Pot model.

Remember that most Instant Pot models can:

    • pressure cook
    • keep food warm after cooking

How To Cook Barley In An Instant Pot

6 Surprising Foods You Can Make In An Instant Pot

You only need barley and water to cook barley in a pressure cooker. I also recommend adding a little salt and oil for the best flavor and fluffy texture. Heres how to do it.

  • First, add the barley to your Instant Pot. If you are using hulled barley, rinse it off first in a colander under running water- this will help get rid of some of the bitter flavor.
  • Then, add water, a pinch of salt, and a little oil to the pressure cooker. I used extra-virgin olive oil, as I do in 99% of my recipes, but you can use another kind if you prefer.
  • Close your pressure cooker lid and make sure its sealed properly.
  • Set your Instant Pot to high, manual pressure for 20 minutes for pearled barley .
  • Once its done, quick release the sealing vent. Wait for the float valve to depress before you open it.
  • Fluff with a fork or spoon and youre done!

This rich, savory Japanese-style beef curry is typically made with little blocks of store-bought Japanese curry roux. Since the dish comes together so fast in an Instant Pot®, we use the time gained to make a homemade roux with basic pantry ingredients. Combined with Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, grated apple and beef broth, the result is a mildly sweet, spicy curry packed with extra umami. You can serve it over white rice or udon noodles. You can also make it without the beef and pour the sauce over Japanese-style breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlets .

How To Prepare Jars For Canning In An Instant Pot

You can always wash your jars with hot water to sterilize them either by hand or in the dishwasher. But did you know you can sterilize the jars using your instant pot as well?

    Heres how:

  • Inspect your jars to make sure there arent any chips or cracks in the rims as that will hinder the sealing process.
  • Give your jars a quick rinse with soap and hot water and then you can start the sterilization process using your instant pot.
  • Add one cup of water to your instant pot and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. White vinegar will help to kill the bacteria and also prevent any residue from forming on your jars.
  • Place the trivet in your pot, so that the jars arent directly touching the bottom of your instant pot.
  • Make sure the seal is seated properly on your instant pot lid and is not loose.
  • Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Select the steam cycle for 1 minute.
  • When the cycle completes, lift out your jars carefully and fill them with hot water to keep them warm.
  • Instant Pot Chicken Bone Broth Vs Stock

I know many wonder if what they are making is instant pot chicken bone broth or instant pot chicken stock.

I find the best way of describing the two is to say that traditional bone broth will be jelly like texture, is made with the bones, is always cooked for longer than stock and has a much stronger texture and flavour.

For example, this is our traditional instant pot chicken bone broth below:

Yet, this is our traditional lazy chicken stock below which is thin like a classic shop bought stock:

You make either one of them or cook with either of them in the instant pot. Its all about personal preference. Also, some will make a bone broth and call it stock and vice versa.

Cooking Spaghetti Fettuccini Or Linguini In The Instant Pot

Long, straight pasta like spaghetti, fettuccini, and linguini can be a bit finicky to cook in the Instant Pot. The method for cooking these is slightly different than other shapes, though the cook time remains the same.

  • Break the pasta strands in half before adding them to the Instant Pot so that they can easily be submerged in water.
  • Pour water into the Instant Pot to completely cover the pasta .
  • Do not stir before cooking. Resist the urge to stir the pasta.
  • Pressure cook pasta according to the time on the chart.
  • Leave pasta on natural release for 5 minutes and then release any remaining pressure.
  • After cooking, stir the pasta well to insure the strands are not stuck together.
  • Drain well.
