So, to make sure you get it right the first time, heres your guide on how to cook meat in an Instant Pot.

From ground beef to ribs to chicken, heres everything you need to know when it comes to cooking meat and poultry in your pressure cooker.

Achieving The Perfect Sear

Speed is key in weeknight meals. Thats why the combination of the Quicker Picker Upper and a pressure cooker works so well. A pressure cooker is a great way to easily cook the steak bites until theyre nice and tender. But for maximum flavor, you should still sear the steak first to caramelize the outside and create all those flavorful browned bits at the bottom of the pot. To make sure the steak sears and doesnt steam, remove as much moisture off the surface as you can before it hits the pan. Thats where Bounty paper towels come in handy. Patting the steak cubes dry first with a super absorbent paper towel like Bounty means theyll sear quicker and better once they go into the pressure cooker so youll end up with browned pieces of beef, not steamed gray ones.

Slow Cooker Blade Steaks

Slow cooker blade steaks served with noodles and acorn squash.

Today was one of those days when I am very glad that I have a slow-cooker. Busy, Busy, Busy! But I was still able to put an attractive and very tasty meal together and my husband and I really enjoyed it. The only time I spent on it was to saute the onions before putting everything in the crock pot early in the morning, and as the saying goes set it and forget it.

This recipe was originally written using a pot roast which I often do make, but today I used blade steaks instead and got an extremely tender and flavorful result. You will note that the recipe calls for adding carrots and potato to the slow cooker with the meat, but for today I cooked some wide egg noodles to go with it. The recipe produces a good quantity of gravy and so its good to have some thing that will go with the gravy like mashed potatoes or noodles.

To produce a successful meat in the slow cooker you need something to give lots of flavor in this case sun-dried tomatoes, herbs and garlic. You will also be using less liquid than oven or stovetop versions, but the moisture in the slow-cooker plus meat juices will contribute to the gravy.

SLOW COOKER BLADE STEAKS

DIRECTIONS

1. To prepare meat: sprinkle steaks evenly with salt and pepper.

2. Spray the interior of the cooker insert with non-stick spray. Place the meat in the cooker.

Blade steaks in the slow cooker insert.

4. To serve, remove bay leaves and discard, serve with the gravy.

  • It takes a bit for the sauce to thicken. Be patient, but also remember that it gets thicker as it cools.

How To Marinate Pork Steak

Definitely, it is easier and faster to buy already marinaded steaks. But nothing will bring you more satisfaction than making this dish from starch. There is no big deal in marinating steaks. Just combine it with spices and leave to rest. Do not be afraid and play with the spices to find your favorite combo.

So you grab your steaks and absorb the excess water with a paper towel. In case you bought a whole piece of meat, then cut it into thick slices of about 2 cm. I found this thickness perfect for steak as the heat quickly penetrates it, and it remains juicy.

Perfect add to steak is paprika, ground garlic, Old Bay, salt, and freshly ground pepper. So sprinkle cuts generously and then drizzle some olive oil. Add some bay leaves and mix everything. The meat will absorb the aroma of the spices, and the taste will be more intense. Let the steaks chill in the marinade for at least 30 minutes. If I want the meat more enhanced then, I leave it marinating in the fridge overnight. The longer it stays in the marinade, the tastier it gets.

How To Choose The Best Pork Meat

Nothing can be more important when cooking a good steak is the right choice of meat. The first thing that you should pay attention to is its freshness. Fresh meat has pale pink flesh and should be firm. Never grab meat that looks greasy or grey.

It also should not stick to your fingers to touch. When lightly pressed with fingers, the meat should spring back. And of course, smell always smell meat if you have the possibility. Your sense will never lie to you.

Steak is a slice of meat cut from the fleshy part of an animals carcass. The perfect cut for meat is fine-grained in texture. The fibers should be dense and breaded with fat. Qualitative and fresh fat should be white or pink-white and soft.

To keep the freshness of meat, store it at 32 °F to 42 °F temperature. I always prefer to buy meat at farmers markets or our local butcher for steaks and grill.

For steaks, I do not recommend frozen meat, as it loses its succulent texture. Anyway, if you grab a frozen piece of meat, then it should be thawed gradually. Never defrost it in a microwave. Transfer it from the freezer to the refrigerator and leave it until thoroughly thawed. Once the meat has wholly defrosted, cook it immediately.
