I have been testing out the Ninja Foodi because Im trying to decide whether or not to get rid of my Instant Pot.
UPDATE 12/26/2019: Instant Pot came out with its own air fryer lid for their 6 quart machines!
This is such great news for those of you who dont want to buy yet another small appliance for another task. What a great option for just being able to attach it to a machine you already have!
I cant wait to test it out and will be sure to give a review, but for now, the Ninja Foodi and Instant Pot review below!
I tested the Ninja Foodi out for a full week and made all our meals in it.
Ive put together an informative pro and con list for each and my final decision below.
Perhaps this will help those of you who are still wondering whether or not you should get an Instant Pot.

What Is The Best Thing To Cook In The Ninja Foodi
It is hard to come up with a smaller list than what is here because if we didnt like one we wouldnt post it. If you are a beginner though I would suggest making penne pasta in Ninja Foodi. An easier way to eat spaghetti than those long noodles and just 3 ingredients.

There are several models under each of the two that we are comparing in this post. To make things easy, take note that we are talking about the pressure cookers from both brands, which can also deliver a plethora of other functions depending on the model that you will choose.
For the Instant Pot, we will focus on the Instant Pot Duo in two sizes and the Instant Pot Pro. For the Ninja Foodi, on the other hand, we will focus on their pressure cookers that are available in three sizes.

Instant Pot Pros & Cons
Dont get me wrong, whichever appliance you choose, you will be happy but here is the nitty gritty on each one.
- Pro: Instant Pots are easy to use and come with a variety of pre-sets to make cooking with them nearly foolproof. There are a range of options from 6 functions up to 10 functions, each with additional cooking programs. - Pro: The Instant Pot is the most widely purchased pressure cooker. This means that there are TONS of Facebook Groups, cookbooks and blogs with plenty of great meal ideas.
- Con: My Instant Pot wasnt perfect whether user error or slight mechanical fault, I sometimes struggled to get it to pressure and to seal. Ive not had this issue with the Foodi .
- Con: While many Instant Pot recipes are simple, you will find that quite a few involve browning or finishing the dish in the oven, which can be an annoyance.
Which One Is Right For You To Buy
So, all the above-mentioned detail was about the main features that are offered by the two most widely used brands of pressure and electric cookers: The Ninja Foodi, and the Instant Pot.
Now:
All we have to do here is to find out which one is the best to buy. Well, for this, we have to consider some major quirks, like price tag, durability, and functions.
And by keeping in view all of these aspects, I have come to the conclusion that the Instant Pot pressure cooker is way better than the Ninja Foodi.
Hold on:
I am not saying that Ninja Foodi is not worth the hype, but if we look at the price tag of both brands, Instant Pot is way too less than the Ninja Foodi.
Moreover, the multi-functional capability of the Instant Pot adds to its worth.
If air frying function is important for you and you like crispy food without adding any extra fats. You have space in your kitchen, its worth paying a little extra for Ninja Foodi that can do it.
So, to conclude we can say that both the cookers are better on their own terms, but if you intend to choose one from them, then you better go for the Instant Pot.

Ninja Foodi Vs Instant Pot
More and more people are recognizing the advantages of electric pressure cookers. Between 2010 and 2019, sales of electric pressure cookers in the United States increased by more than 32%, according to Statistic data.
The instant pot is perhaps the best-known electric pressure cooker on the market these days, but you also have Crockpot, Mueller, Presto, and other brands. Recently, Ninja came out with food, which is an electric pressure cooker that is unique in that it attracts many people to pressure cooking.
How do these work? French fries, rotisserie-style chicken with crispy skin, cheesecake, meat, rice, steam, pasta, and other basic dishes that you can cook in pressure cookers.
Ninja Foodi Vs Instant Pot: Features
Instant and Ninja offer a large range of multi-cookers and some are more basic than others so well focus again on the Instant Pot Duo Crisp and the Ninja Foodi 11-in-1 Pro Pressure Cooker. Weve listed the features each has below.

Both the Instant Pot and the Ninja Foodi offer the same functions with the exception of yogurt making and dehydrating. So, what else sets these appliances apart? Price will obviously be a key deciding factor for many and the Ninja Foodi model is more expensive, but aside from that, the capacity each cooker offers will also be worth keeping in mind.
The Ninja Foodi Pro Pressure Cooker has a 6.5 quart/6.1-liter capacity, whereas the Instant Pot Duo Crisp has a larger 8-quart/7.6-liter capacity, so youll be able to fit more food in the Instant Pot.
Both of these appliances come with some accessories as standard. The Ninja Foodi Pro Pressure Cooker has a crisper lid, pressure cooking lid, a dishwasher-safe non-stick cooking pot, non-stick cooking plate, a broil rack, and a recipe book.

Air Fryer Function Of Ninja Foodi
Ive never used an air fryer before this machine so I have nothing to compare it to.
Im very impressed though with how little oil you need for everything to cook and get crisp.
I made my three ingredient nuggets in it dropped the meatballs in raw and didnt even use any oil. They came out so crispy!
Weve made scallops in it, chicken tenders, asparagus, broccoli, and more!
Instant Pot Ultra 3 Quart 10

Instant pot introduced this product as a unique addition to their pressure cooker collection. With distinctive functionality, this pot provides users with impressive cooking options. With its 21 presets options for specific cooking choices qualify, this cooker is ideal kitchenware for seasoned cooks.
The cooker is further embedded with 16 microprocessors to perform certain peculiar functions such as altitude adjustment and indicates cooking progress. It features a steam release automatic control this cooker can retain food steam, flavor, and aroma and cook faster.
Along with the above functions, the cooker can serve as an adequate replacement for ten kitchen appliances including, a sterilizer, yogurt maker, egg cooker, a slow cooker, rice or porridge cooker, ultra, and a warmer, thereby allowing users to carry out different cooking styles using a single product.
Health-wise, this product is made of food-grade stainless steel. Hence, it is very safe for cooking this was further proved by the UI certification granted in respect to the cooker. The cooker comes with a removable lid that makes it easier to clean, a lid holder by both sides makes it more convenient to handle, and with a blue digital interface, it is easy to use and control.

Where Ninja Foodi Loses
There are fewer ways to “customize” your cooker needs here, both function-wise and size-wise. Despite what seems like 20 different Foodi models, only a few of them are actually pressure cookers. There’s less clear scaling up in terms of what each model can do, and cookers that are dedicated toaster ovens or air fryers are still just called the Foodi just with “XL” or “Deluxe” tacked onto the end. The Foodi doesn’t come in a mini 3-quart size at all.
While you can sometimes score an Instant Pot for as low as $50-ish if you’re fine with only six appliance functions, buying a Foodi locks you into spending at least $169. And it’s a bummer that the Foodi costs so much and doesn’t even have a stainless steel insert. The nonstick coating isn’t as fragile as Teflon, but there are reports of chipping from the metal rack being pulled in and out. Some people also aren’t comfortable with their food chilling in a plastic-y ceramic coating for hours.
Why Didnt You Buy It At Amazon
Well, because Amazon didnt have it for 20% off but the main reason was because theres two different models on Amazon and its confusing which one you are actually going to get.
Some of the product photos show it has the dehydrator function/button but then some of the product photos show that they dont. So I didnt want to order this giant machine and then have to ship it back if I got the one without the dehydrator. See the photo above where this one obviously has the dehydrator option. There are models apparently that dont have that button.
It was just easier to buy in store somewhere.

Ninja Foodi Vegetable Recipes

There is also an all-in-one accessories pack for the Ninja Foodi that contains baking pans, egg molds, spatulas, trays and silicon molds.
Another great kit to purchase is the bake kit, which comes with three pans to expand your baking capabilities, like a multi-purpose pan for casseroles and cake, crisper pan for pizzas, quesadillas, and vegetables, and loaf pan for breads.
What Are The Pros And Cons Of The Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker And Air Fryer
It comes with a 1-year limited warranty which is great, though Ive never had an issue whatsoever.
The only real negatives would be its size and the air fry basket isnt very big compared to the Cosori.
Lets talk about the Ninja Foodi air fryer function.
This is the lid you use to crisp your food in no time. It is attached to the machine itself and can be lifted up easily to check on your food. Cooking pauses once the lid is lifted.
