Considering that Instapots are known as multi-cookers, the Instant Pot Smart Wifi is no different. Essentially, it has 8 major functions combined into one effective appliance.

You see, while 8 is the advertised number, it has many more uses. In fact, the IP Wifi has a total of 14 smart programs, yet you can make an infinite number of recipes. In short, the skys the limit.

Find the Slow Cook button in this second row of four buttons , and to the left of the Down button. Its near the left edge of the control panel, two rows below the LCD display, and found just above the Saute button, and just below the Cake button.
How to Use
In a cold Instant Pot, fill with meat, vegetables, soups, sauces, grains, et al, as called for in your recipe. Lock the lid, close the steam release valve, and then press the Slow Cook button. Use the Up and Down )-) keys to add or subtract time in half-hour increments from the default slow cooking time. Then wait for cooking to wrap up. When the Instant Pot stops, quickly or slowly let off the steam. Your recipe might specify whether to open the pressure release valve or not after cooking.

We see these adjustments in the second and third positions, within the second row of four buttons . Plus, they are two rows below the LCD screen and plum underneath it.
Find the Down button just to the right of the Slow Cook button, and just to the left of the Up button. Its just above Delay Start, and just below Pressure Level.

Instant Pot Duo Plus Vs Smart
The popular Instant Pot Duo family is quite extensive, with plenty of cool products that improve the lives of amateur cooks and their families.

This control is on the Instant Pot lid, near the back, on the top, to the left of the steam pressure float button, behind the lid handle, at roughly the eleven oclock position,
When to Use the Steam Release Valve
After any cooking cycle finishes, open this valve to let out built up steam pressure inside. While the pressure gradually dissipates even when you do not open the Steam Release nozzle, many recipes call for quick pressure release. Rapid depressurization requires this option, as it stops the cooking process more abruptly than the gradual leaking out of steam after the cook cycle completes.
How to Use
Prior to starting pressurized cooking, whether high or low pressure mode, you must close this valve. Do that by rotating it counter clockwise all the way, until it stops. Once you lock the lid closed, the cooker is now ready for pressure cooking.
Then, once cooking is done, and if you need to release the steam pressure more quickly, then turn this valve clockwise until it stops. Rotating it to the right opens the Steam Release valve, and allows the steam to rush out.
Be careful of your hands when releasing the pressure. Steam is quite hot and can severely burn you. We suggest wearing elbow length oven mitts when opening this valve.

Find The Instant Pot App Once Installed
You may run it right from the App Store page after installation finishes. Or, yo can pick it up later by finding in your mobile device Home pages. Were running this demo on an iPad Air tablet, and we found the Instant Pot app on the recent used app shortcuts bar, as pointed at by the green arrow in the next picture.

Like the Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1, it wasnt a big deal the EasySeal lid was omitted from this build. It isnt a requirement for delicious meals, and delicious meals are what youll have with the S. Its an 8-in-1 pressure cooker with voice commands and smart programs. What more could you ask for? And when youre done enjoying good food, the inner pot can go into the dishwasher.

With regards to the manual controls, Instant Pot 8 in 1 relatively easy to manipulate the Instant Pot with Wifi.
The smart programs are especially a massive help with this electric pressure cooker. Simply add the ingredients, select the function, and let the machine do all the work. Its one of those set-and-forget machines, so you can rest easy in the kitchen.
Needless to say, these programs are also customizableduration, pressure, and temperature. In other words, you can personalize any recipe to your liking. Additionally, you can adjust the sound of the Instant Pot Wifi.

Youll likely appreciate the Cooker Status Icons on top of the LCD screen. Primarily, it indicates whether the wi-fi is connected/connecting, if the machine is preheating or cooking , if the keep warm is on/off, and the sound.

Sadly, theres this feature or the lack thereof, that disappoints me. The machine doesnt have automatic venting or at least a separate switch for releasing steam. The thing is, before the newer Instant Pots came out, this wasnt a big deal. That being said, it isnt the case anymore.
You see, the updated versions have these marvelous features that fit the name, Smart.
For one, the Instapot Max features automatic hands-free venting. Secondly, other recent products have separate release valves and vents .
Its a no-brainer that these are safer and easier to manage.

The Instant Pot Smart Wifi 60, also called 6-Quart Instant Pot Smart, 8-in-1 Instant Pot, or simply the Instapot Wifi, is one of the few electric pressure cookers that can connect to your smartphone.
However, I have to mention right away that this is their old smart multicooker. The brand has already launched a new one with a touch interface and a better appThe Instant Pot Pro Plus.
Im not a big fan of their old app. Though it features hundreds of recipes, it didnt get enough traction.

As you can see, the rating was too bad. It looks okay but, I believe the user experience was horrible. I think they stopped updating this application.
And heres the new Instant Brands app, featuring over 1000 recipes plus hands-free venting.

My point is, dont waste your time on the Instant Pot Wifi. Just check out the newest Instant Pots in this buying guide.

Once youve connected your mobile device to the Instant Pot ad hoc network, close the Settings app and again bring up the Instant Pot app. Youll notice that now, the app is trying to activate your Instant Pot on your Instant Pot account. See this pictured next. This page shows a mobile phone and a cloud, with a line between them where a blip of light is running back and fourth between them. Presumably, this means that your mobile device, the Instant Pot, and the cloud servers at the Instant Pot company, are exchanging data to establish the linkage.
After perhaps fifteen seconds, your smart WiFi cooker connects to the WiFi network you picked when you connected your mobile device to it in step 3 above.

Worst App Bt Ip Is Useless
Let me start by saying, dont bother with the Bluetooth Instant Pot. The BT function is useless. It requires this app which has never worked for me. Ive had the BT IP for years. Sometimes the app connects but there was never a functioning alarm where it would send you a notification when the IP was done. And the Bluetooth range is literally 10 whole feet, unless theres a wall. Why bother?And now the app is even more useless if you can believe it because it wont even load My Devices. So I cant even connect to the IP. Ive tried deleting the app and reinstalling. Why charge extra for a feature you never intended to let people use, Instant Pot?!They have a WiFi IP now but why would I ever spend the extra $$ for it when this hasnt worked since Day One… like 6 or 7 years ago? Come on, figure it out!
