Theres only one essential ingredient for this recipe: whole sweet potatoes!
- Sweet potatoes: Sometimes called Garnet Yams or Jewel Sweet Potatoes. Look for medium sweet potatoes, about two inches in diameter. Larger potatoes dont cook as evenly. They should have reddish skin and bright orange flesh inside.
- Water: 1 cup of water is needed to create the steam that will build up and pressurize the cooker.
- Flaky salt & pepper: To flavor the sweet potatoes. Feel free to also add fresh thyme or any other herbs you like. You can also sprinkle on your favorite seasoning and/or spices.

Which Size Is Right For You
When selecting your Instant Pot, you’ll want to consider how much space you have. Instant Pot models come in four different sizes: 3-, 6-, 8- and 10-quart. Depending on what youre going to use it for, the size you choose can make a big difference.
If youre sticking to side dishes and meals for up to three people, Instant Pot recommends the 3-quart size. This is offered in most basic models including the Duo, Duo Nova, Duo Plus, Ultra and Lux. The 6-quart size is the most popular and is available in every model except the Duo Crisp, which is an Instant Pot and air fryer combo. Instant Pot recommends this size for feeding up to six people. The 8-quart model is the next most-popular size. It is offered in all models except the Smart WiFi and Max models, and is recommended for large families or to meal prep food for the week. The Duo Nova is the only model that comes in the 10-quart size, which is designed for larger meals, feeding a crowd or to stock the freezer with family dinners.

Do I need an Instant Pot Egg Rack?
The Instant Pot egg rack didnt make it to our list because we dont think its one of the must have Instant Pot accessories. You can cook the same amount of eggs on the trivet that comes with your Instant Pot Pressure Cooker.
Is Pyrex or Glass Bowl safe in the Instant Pot?
The official word from the Pyrex company is no, it is not safe to use Pyrex bowls in Instant Pot. If the Pyrex or glass bowl has fine crack or scratch, there is a small chance the bowl will crack or shatter in Instant Pot. Having said that, many users have been using Pyrex bowls in Instant Pot or other pressure cookers.
What material is the safest in the Instant Pot?
High quality stainless steel is the safest material to use in Instant Pot. A tip is to look for stainless steel bowls that have multiple layers. Ideally, it should have aluminum or copper in the middle layer to improve heat conductivity. Furthermore, high quality stainless steel will not react or leach harmful chemicals to your food.
Is parchment paper safe in the Instant Pot?
Yes, parchment paper is safe to use in the Instant Pot. Many users have been using it to line their cheesecake pan.
Is silicone really safe in the Instant Pot?
According to Health Canada, as of now, there are no known health hazards associated with the use of food grade silicone cookware. Silicone rubber does not react with food or beverages. It also does not produce any hazardous fumes.

It comes in the 3-, 6- and 8-quart sizes and has 13 one-touch programs including soup/broth, meat/stew, bean/chili, slow cook, sauté, rice, porridge, steam, yogurt, keep warm and pressure cook.
If the yogurt button doesnt appeal to you, the Lux is the most basic Instant Pot model, offering all the functionality of a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, sauté pan, steamer and warmer without the yogurt-making feature. We do not recommend making yogurt in the Lux model.

The Instant Pot Pro is new for 2021 and is a great high-end pressure cooker. It is a worthy replacement to the discontinued Duo Evo Plus, packed with user-favorite features that make it worth the cost.

Bottom Line: The Instant Pot Pro is now my first-choice recommendation for a high-end pressure cooker, thanks to the flat-bottom cooking pot with handles, redesigned lid, large display, and favorite buttons.

Other Instant Pot Pro Error Codes
Lid indicates that the lid is not correctly positioned. Simply open the lid and replace it, ensuring it is properly placed.
PrSE indicates that pressure has accumulated during a non-pressure cooking program. You will want to use the quick release vent to reduce pressure in the pot.
The remaining error codes are quite rare:
C1, C2, C6, C6H, C6L: These five errors dont specify what exactly is wrong, just that your Instant Pot may have a faulty sensor and that youll need to contact customer support at 1-800-828-7280 or support @ instantpot.com.
C7 or NoPr indicates that the heat element has failed, there is not enough liquid, or the quick release switch is set to vent position. If you get the error after checking the vent release valve and checking to make sure there is the minimum amount of liquid required for pressure, you would need to contact Customer Support.
C8 indicates that you have placed the wrong inner pot in the housing. The pots are not interchangeable.
Note: The older Duo Evo Plus model showed the C8 error code while sauteing. Happily, the Instant Pot Pro seems to have fixed that problem and theres no longer an error even on the highest saute settings.
What Comes With The Instant Pot Pro
The Instant Pot Pro comes with one red and one clear silicone ring, which we generally separate for savory and sweet meals.
It also comes with a redesigned low steam rack with handles that can fold over flat.
It is also compatible with all standard pressure cooking accessories, including the Quick Cool Tray that came out for the original Duo Evo Plus.
