4 Instant Pot Recipes for Silicone Egg Bites Mold | Step-by-Step Instant Pot Recipe

For cute and un-soggy egg bites, cover the mold with a parchment round or aluminum foil before cooking so condensation on the lid doesn’t drip down on the egg mixture. If your egg molds came with a plastic lid, they are for storage and cant be used for cooking. If the egg mold lid is silicone, you should be able to use it when cooking, but check the manufacturer’s instructions first.

Stacking Egg Bites Trays In The Instant Pot

I wanted to make a bunch of egg bites for a party, so I had tried searching for others’ experiences with stacking the egg bites trays. I did see that it was possible to do, but I wanted to share my experience. I stacked 2 trays in my 6-quart pot, and I stacked 3 trays in my 8-quart pot.

I used the Foodie and Wine Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites recipe. I filled each cup all the way full, and I covered each tray with foil. I stacked each tray off-set from the one underneath. The eggs did expand a bit, so some of the egg bites had a sort of ring around the top where it had spilled over and I just peeled that part off. And there was a layer of stuck egg on all of the foil covers. It was fine though. Perhaps spraying the foil would be a good idea.

As far as stacking the 3 trays, they barely fit in the 8-quart pot. But it sealed and came to pressure just fine. After the 10 minute NPR, I manually opened the valve. I could tell all of the pressure had been released, but the button was still sticking up because the top tray was blocking it from dropping down. I had to use a spatula to hold the button down while I took the top off. Other than that, all good!!

Instant Pot Egg Bites

Instant Pot Egg Bites make an easy breakfast-on-the-go! They are similar to the Sous Vide Egg Bites from Starbucks, but my version uses a little less cheese to make them as easy and healthy as possible. Theyre loaded with protein and are easy to customize using your favorite cheese and veggies.

Thanks to this silicone mold and the Instant Pot, the process is pretty darn easy.

Can You Freeze Instant Pot Egg Bites

You can absolutely freeze egg bites. I recommend placing cooked and cooled egg bites on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and covering with plastic wrap .

After they are frozen, you can transfer them to a gallon-sized bag where they can be stored for up to 3 months.

To prepare a frozen egg bite, I would take them out of the freezer and microwave for 30-60 seconds, then flip them over and microwave again for additional 30-60 seconds.

You may have some liquid come out of the egg bites and the texture may be slightly different , but they are perfectly okay to eat from frozen.

Do I Need A Blender For Egg Bites Instant Pot

After testing egg bites, one thing I can tell you I did not like using a blender. Maybe because my egg bites recipe contains no cheese but blended mixture got so thin, even ground pepper and salt settled at the bottom of the bite. Making one side spicy and another side plain. Yuck.

No blender. Even easier for me, a busy mom. Trust me, I hate washing blender and meat cutting board more than anything.

Making Pressure Cooker Egg Bites Without A Silicone Mold

When I was first starting with the pressure cooker, I made Egg Muffins with individual silicone molds. I liked to use the muffins to make Egg Muffin croissant sandwiches.

The egg muffins reheat really well. I had one for breakfast the next day with a slice of toast, and it kept me satisfied until a late lunch.

If you prefer to make bigger muffins filled with more veggies, try making them in glass custard cups. I plan to try that soon.

You only need a few ingredients to make these Instant Pot Egg Bites. Guess what? You can decide on what type of ingredients you want to use depending on what mood youre in. First, lets go over the ingredients that we decided to use.

  • Eggs-We used large eggs for this recipe. The size of the egg does matter. The larger the egg, the more full your egg cups will be.
  • Olive oil The olive oil in this recipe is used to pre-cook the vegetables. Feel free to use any oil or fat that you would like.
  • Minced garlic A little garlic goes a long way. Feel free to use garlic powder if you dont have minced garlic, just be sure to use half the amount!
  • Minced onion The onion gets sautéd before putting them into the egg cups. It is a delicious flavor base for the egg bites.
  • Fresh spinach You get your veggie serving in with this fresh spinach. You do want to sauté your spinach before putting the spinach in the egg bites to draw the moisture out of the spinach. You can use frozen, cooked spinach to the egg cups, but be sure to ring the excess moisture out from the spinach.
  • White cheddar cheese Cheddar cheese adds cheesy goodness to these egg bites! You really can substitute the cheddar cheese with any cheese or omit the cheese all together. You are the maker of your cheese bites.

If you want to freeze them, thaw them in the fridge for a few hours or overnight before gently reheating in the toaster oven or microwave.
