Instant Pot Mashed Red Potatoes | NO DRAIN

Youve just finished your beef stew, but its too runny! What now? Can you thicken beef stew after its cooked? If youre not someone who loves a brothier soup, this might feel like a disaster. Thankfully, its an easy fix! You can easily thicken a runny beef stew with a simple cornstarch slurry or some mashed potatoes.

This Instant Pot beef stew recipe was thick enough for me without adding additional thickeners. However, if youd prefer a thicker beef stew, you may add a cornstarch slurry. Combine 2-3 tablespoons of cornstarch with equal parts cold water. Stir together and drizzle into a simmering stew. Stir until the stew is thickened.

If you decide to use mashed potatoes to thicken your stew, you can take dry mashed potato flakes. Sprinkle them into the stew 1 tablespoon at a time. If you happen to have any leftover mashed potatoes, you can stir those into the soup to thicken.

What Can I Put Into The Mashed Potatoes

Instant Pot Red Potatoes Recipe & How Long to Cook ...

This recipe is great because of the things that I put into the mashed potatoes. I love putting in salt, heavy cream, butter, and garlic powder in the potatoes to add some great flavor and creamy texture to the potatoes. Also, adding gravy on top of it is to die for.

Ive also used sour cream and some roasted garlic at times too. Feel free to add other things to the recipe to make it your own. But I wouldnt add much more than these things, otherwise the flavor would be too much or the texture would be either too creamy or watery.
