How Long To Pressure Cook Eggs

I decided to do a little experiment, cooking my eggs anywhere from 2 minutes to 5 minutes in the Instant Pot, all with a 5 minute natural release before releasing the rest of the steam pressure.

Below are the results of my experiments for hard cooked egg yolks.

As you can see, after 5 minutes the yolks are very well done, and after two minutes theyre softer, but still not runny. For a runny egg, use the quick release method, which means you immediately release the steam after the cooking cycle is over.

Serving: 1

P.S. You can easily multiply according to what you need and use a larger bowl.

You’ll Need:

  • A heatproof bowl like this that can fit inside the Instant Pot or pressure cooker
  • Trivet or a steamer basket
  • 1 cup of water for the inner pot
  • Mix the egg and water in a small bowl
  • Strain the egg mixture over a fine mesh strainer into a heatproof bowl
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well and set aside.
  • Add 1 Cup of water to the inner pot of Instant Pot
  • Place the trivet or a steamer basket in the pot
  • Place the bowl with the egg mixture on the trivet or a steamer basket.
  • Close the lid tightly, close the vent valve.
  • Press Manual setting on HIGH and set the timer for 5 minutes.
  • When the timer goes off, release the pressure manually
  • Serve immediately with hot rice!

Why Did My Eggs Crack During Cooking

Make sure you place the eggs on the steaming rack without letting them touch the water. If you put the eggs directly into the water or partially in the water, the eggs might jostle during cooking and crack open. Also, stacking too many eggs can also cause cracking. If you want to cook more eggs in one batch and minimize cracking, investing in an egg rack might be a good idea.

To tell you the truth, if you are as big a fan of boiled eggs as I am, I would invest in an Instant Pot, if only just to make perfect eggs so easily! They are that good and that convenient. And of course, there are so many other great, easy, and delicious dishes you can make using an Instant Pot.

How To Make Pressure Cooker Eggs

Are you ready to see how easy these eggs are to make? You are looking at three steps:

  • Add water to the bottom of the pot, add a metal trivet, and then place eggs on top.
  • Seal the lid and cook on High Pressure for 3 to 7 minutes .
  • Manually release the pressure and transfer the eggs to a bowl with ice water. After a few minutes in the ice bath, you can peel the eggs.

Many Instant Pot users almost always use manual settings. While Smart Program buttons are handy, cooking instructions can vary for different types of rice, smaller or larger beans, and soup with or without meat. With manual settings, you have more control over the time and pressure level. Here is how to use the Instant Pot with manual pressure cooker settings.

Step 1. Star the Instant Pot as mentioned above.

Step 2. Add food, seasoning and liquid to the pot. The liquid can be cold or hot hotter liquids take less time to heat up so the Instant Pot comes to pressure quicker. Stir if needed.

Note on stirring: If adding tomato sauce or paste, keep them on the top and dont stir too much as these foods can sometimes thicken and burn during cooking again, this depends if water and stock are also added as when diluted, its less of a problem.

Step 3. Get your lid and quickly check that the sealing ring on the inside is in place. If its loose or sticks out, the pot might not seal properly and it will not be able to come to pressure. Place it on top and twist it until it locks in place.

Step 4. On older models like Duo Classic, check that the steam release handle on top of the lid is pointing to Sealing. On the more advanced models of the Instant Pot, the vent will automatically seal when the cooking process begins. On the Duo Nova the quick release button should be popped up and not pressed down.

    Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs:

For years, we only made stove-top hard boiled eggs until we discovered the instant pot. This method is quick and easy whether you are making 2 eggs or a dozen hard boiled eggs. It is so easy to make batch after batch. The results are always consistent which means no more over-cooked green egg yolks!

Why Do You Put Boiled Eggs In Ice Water

The idea of placing the eggs in ice cold water helps the eggs to peel easily, but it also prevents the discolored yolk. The strange color that sometimes forms around hard boiled yolks is a reaction of the sulfur in the egg white and the iron in the yolk . By placing the warm eggs in ice water, it stops the cooking process and helps to stop the discoloration.

Do White And Brown Eggs Cook Differently

INSTANT POT ULTRA 8QT UNBOXING AND DEMO

I was recently asked if there was a difference between cooking eggs that come in a white or a brown shell. I usually work with brown eggs, so I bought a batch of white ones to test how they pressure cook.

Following the directions in the recipe below, I cooked a batch of brown eggs and a batch of white eggs, and found that they both peel easily, and cook in the same amount of time as each other. So, this method should work for whichever variety you have on hand.

    How To Make Perfect Hard

I will never forget my first Easter I spent away from my family.

We were living in Georgia at the time and invited friends over for an Easter Egg hunt and Ham Dinner. While the ham and scalloped potatoes were delicious, the eggs were a complete disaster.

After coloring the eggs, our guests cracked a few open for a snack to find that they were not fully cooked!

But I used the same stove-top method for cooking hard-boiled eggs that I had for years. That method worked MOST of the time, but clearly, it was not fool-proof. And frankly, I became a bit fearful to ever cook hard-boiled eggs again–well at least for company!

Place the steamer rack in the Instant Pot.

Add 6 large eggs to the rack like so. Point em up or point em down I dont notice a difference either way.

Why Did My Eggs Come Out Too Hard Or Too Soft

This is the most common question. Remember, many factors affect the cooking time needed for perfect eggs. For example, high elevation, the size of the eggs, the temperature of the eggs, quantity of eggs, the model of your Instant Pot, etc.

Ive seem many recipes for Instant Pot eggs, but none of them share the exact same cooking time.

In general, if youve followed the recipe but did not achieve your desired results, simply add 1 to 2 minutes to get a more cooked egg, or decrease by 1 to 2 minutes to get a softer egg. Test until you achieve the texture you prefer.
