How to deep clean your Instant Pot Putting the Instant Pot lid in the dishwasher?

Many people who use their instant pots regularly have experienced an unpleasant odor coming out from their instant pot. More often than not, this odor would be from the sealing ring.

Cooking different meals can cause different smells to stick to the sealing ring. You may choose to change the sealing ring or clean it. To clean it, pour white vinegar into the instant pot and turn it on. Use the steam setting. After this is done, please take out the ring and allow it to dry.

The pot would be most likely odorless after this process. Another way to prevent or reduce the smell caused by smelly sealing rings is to place your lid with the top facing the pots base. This way, the inside part of the lid gets exposed to air, and odor automatically reduces.

Vintage China Delicate Crystal And Repaired Items

For any glass or china heirlooms, skip the dishwasher and carefully hand wash. This is especially important for any item that has been repaired. The high heat and harsh detergents will cause the adhesives used to weaken and you may lose any small pieces.

Delicate crystal should be hand washed to prevent chipping. If you decide to use the dishwasher, use the top rack and place the glasses between the tines, not over them, to help avoid breakage. Remember, some lead crystal will become cloudy and pitted after being etched by the harsh detergents.

How Often Do You Need To Clean An Instant Pot

Every part that comes into contact with food must be washed after using your Instant Pot to prevent food or odor buildup. This includes the inner cooking pot, steam rack, and lid components such as the sealing ring and anti-block shield.

Other pieces that rarely get dirty, such as the exterior or the condensation cup, can be cleaned occasionally or when necessary.

The outer unit, including the heating element, can be wiped clean. However, take extra care because water will damage the outer unit if it gets inside.

Clean Instant Pot Lid And Components

Can Instant Pot Lid Go In Dishwasher? 6 Steps

Before cleaning your pressure cooker’s lid, the anti-block shield and silicone sealing ring should be removed and cleaned separately. The anti-block shield is a small round or oval element installed underneath the lid. To remove the anti-block shield, use your thumb to gently push the piece toward the lid rim and lift up to pop it off. Hand-wash the shield in warm, soapy water and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Remove the sealing ring and inspect it carefully for cracking, warping, or other damage, which are signs you need to replace it. The sealing ring can be hand-washed in soapy water or placed in the dishwasher. Because it is heat-resistant, you can place it on either rack of your dishwasher.

With the anti-block shield and sealing ring removed, wash the Instant Pot lid in warm, soapy water or place it on the top rack of the dishwasher. Once clean, check the lid’s steam release valve and float valve to ensure they’re clear of food particles that could prevent the cooker from maintaining pressure. If needed, remove and hand-wash the cup that collects condensation.

The harshness of dishwasher detergents can strip the natural oils that keep wooden utensils and cutting boards from drying out. When those oils are stripped, the wood will begin to crack.

Wooden items should be hand washed quickly with a mild detergent in warm water. Do not allow them to soak because that can cause the wood to swell and distort. If you feel the wood needs to be disinfected, use a mild solution of chlorine bleach and warm water1/4 cup of bleach to 1/2 gallon of water.

As with wood, natural stones for pizza should also be hand washed to prevent cracking and damage from harsh detergents.
