  • Prep in Advance

Cleaning and chopping your ingredients in advance or even the night before is always a good idea to save time. Whenever youre craving a quick and comforting dinner, all you have to do is to throw your prepared ingredients in the Instant Pot, press the button, and get ready to set the table.

  • Enhance The Flavor

The beauty of stew food is that there is no strict rule for seasoning. You can add as much or as little seasoning to fit your taste buds. A fresh squeeze of lemon at the end will elevate the finishing flavor, or perhaps add a handful of shredded cheese if you are a big fan of creamy sauce.

  • Thicken The Sauce

Cooked chicken stew could be watery and dilute if there are just meat and vegetables in the pot. A simple tip is to add a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed in water in the end or simply add the flour directly while stirring the chicken.

Once the cornstarch is added, let the stew simmer for a few minutes until you get the desired consistency.

Can I Use Frozen Cubed Meat

Yes. Just make sure no more than 2-3 pieces are clumped together. As for the cooking time, I show you in the video how I added some frozen meat along with fresh and it cooked perfectly all at the same time. If youre unsure and would prefer to thaw first, if you have the extra time, do that by placing the meat in a bit of water or on the counter. Then separate the pieces.

We do not want to depend on salt and pepper alone! In fact, adding a variety of other spices means you can be a bit conservative with the salt and only add more at the end if you feel it needs it.

This seasoning mix is added to the Instant Pot Beef Stew in layers throughout the cooking process so the flavor is infused throughout both the beef and the sauce.

    Dont Stew With Stew Beef

Braising turns tough cuts of beef into tender, succulent bites, but you want to skip the pre-cut stew beef when youre at the grocery store or butcher. Oftentimes, stew beef is cut into irregularly shaped pieces and can have a lot of tough gristle that will never get tender. Picking up a piece of boneless beef chuck instead means that you can easily trim off all the unwanted parts first, then make sure the pieces are cut into uniform 1 1/2-inch pieces that will cook evenly and quickly in the pressure cooker.

Searing the beef cubes first creates all those tasty browned bits that make the finished sauce that much more delicious, but you dont have to spend a lot of time searing the cubes all over. Searing just one side saves you time, so be patient with the process, sear in two batches, and let one side of the beef get nice and dark.
