Hello, Jan -I would not use a slow cooker liner in an “instant pot.” An” instant pot” is a type of pressure cooker which is electric. A “crock pot” is not a pressure cooker. Note: The term “crock pot” is a trademark of Rival slow cookers. The Instant Pot name is trademarked by Instant Brands Inc.You may be able to find a replacement liner for your model of electric pressure cooker. If yours is an Instant Pot , you may be able to find the liner for your model here:
My Favorite Liner Alternative
Alright, now for the grand finale. You ready?
My absolute favorite substitute / alternative to using slow cooker liners is, wait for it.
NO LINER AT ALL!
Thats right. Crock pots were originally designed to work without liners.
But, I still want to help you solve the problem of hard clean-up. Heres a quick tip on how to wash your crock pot much more easily:
Are Slow Cooker Plastic Liners Safe
The nylon liners are safe to use with temperatures up to 400 ºF .
Some people get nervous about heating food in plastic. Especially, disposable plastic that is often cheaply made.
Most slow cooker liners on the market are labeled BPA-free, which is a good thing. But, people could rightly wonder: What else do they contain that might be harmful and that we are yet to discover?
A 2011 study found that almost all plastic products they sampled, BPA-free included, leached detectable quantities of chemicals that imitate naturally occurring estrogen in our bodies.
Some people may want to reduce their exposure to chemicals in plastics, for example, in regard to the risk of breast cancer.
Using A Liner In An Instant Pot What You Need To Know
The answer to this short question is Yes, you certainly can!
Cooking with instant pots is excellent. It makes life easy and convenient all in one Pot. With features like a pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, sterilizer, yogurt maker, soup maker, saute pan, and slow cooker!
Instant Pots make cooking a breeze and safe! However, they can be pretty difficult to clean, especially at the bottom of the Pot. Using liners will save you the time and added stress of scrubbing your pots.
A Reusable Silicone Slow Cooker Insert
Mrs Vs brand of silicone slow cooker liner is a reusable insert you place inside the crock pot before adding ingredients. The idea means you save on buying single-use plastic.
While the design helps with the cleanup, unlike the Reynolds nylon blend liners, its not for storing or freezing meals made in the crock pot.
Update: this option of the silicone slow cooker insert by Mrs V seems to be no longer available.

Put It In The Dishwasher
If the inner pot is dishwasher safe, you can put it in the dishwasher, which makes cleaning the cookware a set and forget approach.
The ceramic inner pots are typically dishwasher safe.
I dont recommend putting a nonstick inner pot in an automatic dishwasher. I cover the best way to clean this type in my guide on how to care and use nonstick cookware.
Why Line A Slow Cooker
Everyone loves the convenience of a slower cooker, but scrubbing off baked on messes from a slow cooker after the meal is done is time-consuming and frankly no fun! Get more time back with your loved ones or some extra time to yourself by lining your slow cooker for easy cleanup. The liner is easily removed once your meal is done and you can get back to family game night, movie night or reading that book you keep wanting to finish. If you’re using these liners for your small business, imagine how much time you’ll get back by not having to scrub slow cookers between cooking sessions. Keep cleanup easy with Reynolds Kitchens Slow Cooker Liners.

Many people avoid using plastic items with their food because some plastics contain BPA , a chemical that can seep into food and have negative health consequences. Crock-Pot brand liners are BPA-free.
can you use roasting bags in slow cookers? C or microwave ovens and slow cookers. They retain the moisture and flavour of meat, poultry, fish and vegetables. The remaining juices can be used to make gravy. The Extra-Large size can also be used in slow cookers as a slow cooker liner.
Beside above, can oven bags go in pressure cooker?
Yes you can, but I would use an old pillow case instead of an oven bag. An oven bag traps air that is a pour conductor of heat where a pillow case will give more even heating of the casing. The same thing is true with a large Myco-Bag thats been over stuffed with substrate.
What can I use instead of a crockpot liner?
Simply grab some cooking spray and spray it all over the sides and bottom of your crock pot. Or, if you don’t have a spray, grab some vegetable oil, put it on a paper towel, and wipe the crockpot yourself.
You Always Leave The Lid On
Not every mode on your Instant Pot needs the lid secured for proper cooking. For example, it’s perfectly OK to saute or heat up foods with the lid off. In fact, sauteing mode won’t brown and crisp your food with the lid trapping in steam. If you’re not sure if you need the lid on or off, check your recipe or manual for instructions.

Soak Your Crock Pot Right Away
As soon as dinner is served, you should empty the leftovers from your slow cooker into a different container, and soak your slow cooker right away in the sink. Fill it with water, dish soap, and let it sit for a couple hours or overnight . If you let it sit out the food will dry to it and it will be a whole lot harder to get it clean.
After its been soaking for a while it should be easy to clean. Grab a sponge or a scrubber, put some elbow grease into it and you should be good!

Things To Keep In Mind
I think food tastes better when its slow cooked in an actual slow cooker rather than an Instant Pot. There are a few other factors that play into why:
- Slow cooker pots are usually made of ceramic or porcelain. Instant Pot pots are stainless steel.
- Slow cookers cook from all sides and the bottom. Instant Pot heats from the bottom only.
The One Thing To Do Before Slow Cooking In An Instant Pot
Chances are high that you bought an Instant Pot because it did more than just pressure cook. You may have even told yourself that youd get rid of one of your slow cookers if you really loved the Instant Pot after trying it out for a bit but then basically forgot that this multi-cooker did anything other than pressure cooking.
Recently I used my Instant Pot as a slow cooker to see if I could indeed replace my smaller four-quart slow cooker with it. A couple of near-fails later, this is the most important thing I learned.

Tips For Using Slow Cooker Liners Without Problems
Do you love your slow cooker but hate how long it takes to clean it? Its a common problem: you use your slow cooker to save yourself time in the kitchen, but then you end up having to soak and scrub your slow cooker for ages to get all the food stains and gunk out!
This is a pretty annoying scenario. Youre trying to save time, but all your saved time is then being spent washing dishes. Not so fun. If only crock pot cleanup could be easier, right?
Well, it can be. With slow cooker liners, you can completely eliminate the need to clean your slow cooker. Instead of spending half an hour trying to clean your crock pot, simply lift the slow cooker liner out of the crockpot, and throw it in the trash. Its as easy as that.
Choose A Pot Thats Easy To Clean
A slow cooker with a ceramic pot is easier to clean than an aluminum one. These inner pots are 100% ceramic with a tough lead-free glaze, which helps make cleaning the pot a breeze. I share a method in my final thoughts, below.
A slow cooker with a nonstick inner pot is also very easy to clean. The downside is that the nonstick coating wears away with use and exposes an aluminum base, which is not such a breeze to clean, nor a healthy option.

EVERYONE loves the idea of hassle-free cooking and cleaning, but whats considered convenient for some might equate to laziness for others.
One woman took to to rave about slow cooker liners, saying theyre the best £1 shes ever spent, and while some might agree, many others reckon shes lazy for not wanting to clean up.
The liners in question are plastic bags that you put into your slow cooker before adding the food and throw it away once youre done.
Some consider them extremely convenient because it means you save on washing up, and they can be picked up for dirt cheap too.
Alongside a snap of her slow cooker method, the home cook wrote: The best £1 I have ever spent . I found these in Sainsburys but apparently you can get them even cheaper in home bargains.
Her post has since racked up over a thousand likes and hundreds of comments from people conflicted by the idea.
Cant agree with this. Single use plastics, just to save a few minutes? one woman wrote, Really unnecessary and harmful.

My MIL gave this to me for Christmas, and I really enjoy it. I also had a photo using this sling featured on OXOs Instagram page! Whaat!

The short answer is yes, you can put aluminum foil in an instant pot. So if youre wondering if you can wrap your potatoes in foil for the Instant Pot like you would if you were to put them into the oven, you can do that. Its just a little bit harder for the moisture to reach the potatoes.

I now prefer the 7-Cup Round Pyrex Dish. It easily fits inside a 6-Quart Instant Pot and it comes with a lid. So easy for leftovers just pop the lid on and put it in the fridge! You can also use a stainless steel bowl or any other dish / bowl that is approved for cooking under high pressure.

Roll up a few small balls of aluminum foil place them on the bottom of your slow cooker bowl to serve as a rack for the chicken, so that it doesnt cook in the juices that will accumulate in the bottom of the slow cooker.

Can You Use Liners With Slow Cooker Freezer Meals
Readers have left comments on my blog saying that they assemble their slow cooker freezer meals in slow cooker liners and then place the liners in gallon-sized plastic freezer bags and place them in the freezer. Now that Ive used the liners myself I have no idea how this is done. I stack my freezer meals to save space in the freezer and cant figure out how to properly seal the liner so that the meal doesnt spill out. In my case, I would freeze the meal in a regular freezer bag and then dump it into the liner the day of cooking.

Cook almost everything in one pot
The Instant Pot DUO60 is the most popular version of the Instant Pot, and there are a few good reasons for that. The 6-quart size is big enough to feed a family of four with plenty of leftovers, and you can reduce kitchen clutter since it is like seven kitchen appliances in one. Plus, it comes in 3 and 8-quart sizes if you need to go smaller or larger.
The Instant Pot is one of our favorite kitchen appliances. We can easily cook a pot roast in a little over an hour, or other meals that we no longer need to babysit on the stovetop. The 6-quart size is the gold standard and easily feeds a family of four with room for leftovers. But you can also go for a 3-quart or 8-quart size if needed. We also love that it reduces the number of kitchen tools we need, since it has multiple functions, like a rice cooker and even slow cooker.
Which Cooking Liners Are Best To Use In Instant Pots
Theres no standard cooking liner that you can go out and buy. Many brands, like Reynolds, KOOC, and Yengoth have their own versions. At their core, these products are the same theyre sheets of plastic. However, some may fit your instant pot better than others. With that said, check your Instant Pots dimensions before you decide what cooking liner to buy.

Spray Your Crock Pot With Cooking Oil Beforehand
Ive never used this tip myself before, but Ive read that it helps stop food from crusting onto the crockpot. Simply grab some cooking spray and spray it all over the sides and bottom of your crock pot. Or, if you dont have a spray, grab some vegetable oil, put it on a paper towel, and wipe the crockpot yourself.
