    Why Use An Ice Bath

The ice bath will cool the eggs immediately so they wont keep cooking in the residual heat. Plus, the eggs will be shocked, which makes them very easy to peel.

What if you dont have ice? No problem at all! Simply run the eggs under cold tap water for 1 to 2 minutes, until they are cooled enough to peel. The eggs might be slightly easier to peel using the ice bath method, but the tap water method is a lazy one that I use all the time.

    Can You Freeze Boiled Eggs

Whether it is hard boiled eggs or soft boiled eggs, you may store the boiled eggs in freezer in freezer safe bags or containers. This is especially hepful & necessary if you have made a large batch of boiled eggs.

However, the whites of the eggs may not freeze really well since the texture of the whites can turn more hard and rubbery once it is frozen.

You may separate the whites and yolks and just freeze the egg yolks, in freezer safe containers so you may use the egg yolks for more longer time .

How To Boil Eggs In Instant Pot Without Rack Or Trivet

If you wonder if you can still make perfect hard boiled eggs or soft boiled eggs in the instant pot pressure cooker without using a rack or trivet for placing the eggs, then yes, it is possible!

While using a trivet or rack helps to arrange the eggs perfectly in the instant pot, reducing any chances to collide each other while boiling, you can also cook the eggs in the instant pot without a rack as it is really not necessary to make the eggs.

You can directly boil the eggs by placing the eggs in the inner pot of the instant pot along with water, just like you do for boiling eggs on stove top.

Boiled eggs on stove top can be done perfectly using a pot or pan.

Thats what I always did before I started making boiled eggs in the instant pot and they always turned out perfect too.

However, boiling eggs in the instant pot pressure cooker is much easier than boiling the eggs on stove top using a pot or pan.

While boiling eggs in a pan on stove top requires placing the eggs in a pan with water enough to immerse the eggs, the instant pot requires only minimal amount of water to cook the eggs and the eggs need not be completely immersed in water.

Instant pot method is much faster, doesnt need monitoring and the eggs are perfect and delicious!

You can decide the texture or consistency of the eggs by adjusting the timer so easily.

The whole process takes quite a few minutes only, which is much faster than stove top method!

Safety Tips For Cooking Eggs In Instant Pot:

  • If you are new to the instant pot, read the owners manual and be sure to follow the use instructions for your specific model.
  • Always double check the pressure indicator popup has dropped indicating there is no more pressure behind it before opening the lid.
  • When releasing pressure, a surprisingly strong spurt of hot steam releases from the valve. Keep your face and others away from the machine while depressurizing.
  • Use tongs to remove the eggs because they will be blazing hot.
