The first thing youll need to do is wash and cut up your head of broccoli. I usually just purchase the bag of pre-cut broccoli. Either way, youll want to keep your broccoli pieces a generous size. Cutting them down too small will result in overcooked broccoli.
If using your steamer basket, place the broccoli in the steamer basket. Then, add 1 cup of HOT water to your 6 qt Instant Pot . The reason we are adding HOT water is because it will cut down the cook time just slightly enough to keep that broccoli from overcooking.;
Add your steamer basket to the Instant Pot on top of the water . Close and lock the lid into place, turn the knob to sealing. Then press STEAM and adjust the time down to 0 minutes. Once the cook cycle is over, turn the knob on top to manually release the pressure, also known as a quick release or QR.;
Once all of the pressure has been released, the pin will drop and your lid will unlock.
You now have perfectly steamed broccoli!;

- Start by cutting the squash in half. My personal preference is to slice the spaghetti squash crosswise rather than lengthwise because it produces longer strands that better resemble spaghetti. Youve gotta get a good twirl on your fork! They also soak up sauce better this way. Then, remove the seeds.
- Place a steamer basket or trivet in the pot along with one cup of water.
- Place the squash halves into the basket or trivet and seal the lid.
- Set the pressure cooker to cook on high for 7 minutes and follow up with a quick release. You can do a natural pressure release for a few minutes if you prefer your pasta well done. A quick-release will give you al dente results.

You can steam your veggies without those methods just. They come out of the microwave nicely steamed, looking plump and moist. How to steam vegetables without a steamer basket?
If you have long veggies you want to steam, just wrap them in a wet paper towel and put them on a microwaveable or in a microwave-safe dish. Then, warm up the food in the microwave. For a pound of asparagus or carrots, you need to warm it for about two minutes.
For shorter vegetables, like broccoli and cauliflower, you should place them in a microwave safe dish and put a little water in the dish. For best results, cover the dish with some plastic wrap and leave a small vent in one corner to let out the steam. Then, microwave for about three minutes. Your broccoli and cauliflower will come out plump and soft, just as if you used the steamer.
You may have to make minor adjustments for certain vegetables, but the same basic principles work for them all. Steaming them in the microwave is easy as long as you get a little water involved, but dont crowd your vegetables too much and be sure to use a dish thats microwave safe to steam them in.

Here Is How To Steam Vegetables Without A Steamer
So lets get started.
1. Choose the right pot
For cooking;vegetables without boiling them in water, you want a good pot with a hermetically sealing lid. A lid that lets to build up condensate in the pot. You also want a thicker bottom, so that the heat is spread evenly.
The size matters too. You want your pot to be filled 3/4 with veggies, that way the condensate can build up on the underside of the lid and drop down to the bottom. For fewer veggies choose a smaller pot.
2. Use some water
Use some water, depending on the pot and lid you are having. If the lid of a pot does not close the pot tightly, more water will evaporate, so you do need more in the beginning. The AMC pot does not need any additional water. It takes some practice to find out how much water your pot needs, but its well worth it! The water is there to protect the vegetables from burning and for generating of the steam not for boiling the vegetables in it.
3. Layer the vegetables
Layer the vegetables into the pot, the vegetables with longer cooking time first and the others on top. For example: potatoes -> cauliflower -> broccoli.
Asparagus and peas can be cooked side by side because they need approximately the same cooking time. Because the vegetables are not cooked in water, each will keep its color and also its own taste. Every vegetable can of course also be cooked separately, but why, if you can save energy and use fewer pots . Close the lid and start the cooking process.
3. Choose the heat setting
