As for how to freeze pulled pork, its super easy. All you have to do is

  • transfer the pulled pork to freezer-safe meal prep containers or Ziploc or re-usable freezer-safe bags

How Long Does It Take To Cook Pork Chops In An Instant Pot

Before you can pressure cook the pork chops, you will want to sear them first. Fortunately, the Instant Pot sauté function makes it quick and easy to do.

If you dont sear the chops before pressure cooking them, they are likely to lose moisture. As a result, you will end up with pork chops that are dry and chewy. By searing the chops first, you will lock the moisture inside of the meat. This will give you pork chops that are juicy and delicious!

Start by searing the pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side. At that point, you will deglaze the pot, then add the ingredients. Put the lid on, set it, and forget it! Youre good to go about your business!

Since the Instant Pot will already be hot, it shouldnt take very long for it to build pressure. Most likely, a few minutes. Once it does come to pressure, the pork chops will cook for 5 minutes. You will follow that up with a 10 minute slow pressure release.

So, in total, it will take roughly 25-30 minutes to make the Instant Pot BBQ pork chops recipe. And they go well with any keto BBQ side dishes. You can also make keto pulled chicken with the BBQ sauce.

How Long To Cook Pork Chops In A Pressure Cooker

This really depends on the thickness of each chop and whether or not theres a bone. The thicker the chop, the longer it will take to cook. Bone-in chops will take more time, too. But since we are browning these chops for color and flavor first, they really dont need a lot of time under pressure to finish cooking, especially boneless chops. For bone-in chops, it should be about 5 minutes. For boneless, it should be 3 minutes. This is a good starting point. Since all the pork chops arent all cut to the exact same thickness, there might be a little trial and error with the cooking times on your part. If they come out tough, they were cooked too long and you can reduce the pressure cooking times.

Instant Pot Filipino Pork Chops Steak

On busy days, cooking pork chops for dinner has always been my easy solution. But now, these Instant Pot Filipino Pork Chop Steaks, cooked like Pinoy Bistek has been an even easier quick fix for me.

Friends have always asked for my Bistek recipe. There is no secret to it. The Filipino Bistek, usually cooked with beef tenderloin slices is irresistible because of the combined flavors of piercingly-sweet citrusy calamansi and salty soy sauce. These savory flavors pair well with the steamed white rice which is often a staple in the Philippines and in most Filipino meals.

So, I took the Bistek recipe formula, poured it on pork chops and cooked it in the Instant Pot. The thick pork chops cooked fast and the Instant Pots high-pressure cooking made the meat soft and succulent. The meat practically fell apart when I pierced my fork through it. I poured the calamansi-soy sauce gravy all over, made temptingly luscious with the ringlets of translucent onions cascading over the pork chops. This is the kind of meal that makes the end of a busy day simply divine.

How To Shred Pulled Pork

Can add some more time if the meat isnt shredding easily?- meat should shred easily after the cook time. Leaner cuts may not shred as well. If this is the case, you can try adding increments of 10 minutes onto the cook time.

I used my stand mixer to shred the pork instead of forks. Its quick and easy, but be sure and remove as much fat from the pork as possible before shredding it in the mixer.

Does Meat Need To Be Covered With Liquid In An Instant Pot

Instant Pot BBQ Pork Chops

No, the pork loin chops do not have to be covered with liquid in the instant pot. The idea of making pork chops in the pressure cooker is that they cook with steam. If they are covered with liquid they will boil and thats not the result that we are looking for.

Thats why you only need 1 cup of liquid, which sits on the bottom of the pot underneath the trivet and the pork chops elevated above it.

Instant Pot Frozen Pork Chops

To cook frozen pork chops in the Instant Pot, skip the step of browning the meat. Sauté the garlic in olive oil and then add the remaining sauce ingredients and frozen pork chops to the pot. Add 2 minutes to the pressure cook time, and increase the natural release time to 10 minutes. Check that the pork chops have reached an internal temperature of 145° F.

Why Are My Instant Pot Pork Chops Tough

Pork chops are usually quite lean and will become tough once they are overcooked. For best result, you will want to use bone-in pork chops that are well-marbled. The bone will act as a shield for the surrounding meat. A thicker cut of pork chop will work better in the Instant Pot as it is less likely to overcook.

How To Shred Pork With A Food Processor

Shredding pork in a food processor takes seconds but its important to use the proper technique and blade to get perfect shreds. Heres how to do it:

  • transfer pork to the food processor
  • use a slicer blade, not the shredder blade (the shredder blade is best for veggies but doesnt work very well with meat
  • pulse without pushing the top down and youll get perfect pork shreds.

    Instant Pot Pork Chops

Pork Chops can vary in the pressure cooker based on size, thickness and of course marbling. You will need to vary the cooking time slightly if you have different cuts of pork chops.

I use chops about 3/4 to 1 thick with bone in. Just like roast chicken, bone in meat is tender and has tons of flavor. If you have pork steaks they come out melt in your mouth tender but youll need to add a little bit of time if theyre thick. I personally wouldnt recommend thin cut pork chops in the pressure cooker.

    • Bone-In Center Cut Chops about 15-18 minutes .
    • Boneless Loin Chops I cook to 8-10 minutes.
    • Pork Steaks: Pork steaks 1 thick need about 20 minutes, they come out very tender.

If you have frozen pork chops and are pressed for time, you can make Instant Pot frozen pork chops but youll need to add about 5 minutes or so extra. Skip the searing step. Be aware that the Instant Pot will take longer to come up to pressure when you are starting from frozen.

How To Make Bbq Pork Chops In Your Instant Pot

First I took 4 thawed bone-in pork chops and seasoned them with Rub Some Butt BBQ Seasoning. I set my Instant Pot to saute and added 2 Tbsp olive oil and let it get hot. I then browned the pork chops on both sides, one at a time.

Once all pork chops are browned, remove final pork chop from the pot and set aside. Add 1 1/2 cups chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon to deglaze your pot. Add the browned pork chops back to the Instant Pot. Add a squirt of your favorite BBQ sauce to the pot, but dont add much. This just adds in some flavor while they cook. I used Sweet Baby Rays Sweet N Spicy BBQ sauce.

*Note: since making these previously I had a look at the ingredient label on the Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce and saw the first ingredient was high fructose corn syrup! We switched over to Annies Spicy organic BBQ sauce instead and it tastes just as great without all the icky ingredients! We buy it from Thrive Market which offers it at an unbeatable price. Once the Instant Pot completes the 10 minutes turn it off and allow it to naturally release pressure for 10 minutes. Then if you are in a hurry you can quick release any remaining pressure. Transfer the pork chops to a baking sheet and baste them in BBQ sauce. Place them under the broiler on high for 2-3 minutes until BBQ sauce gets caramelized and bubbly. Serve immediately and enjoy!

    • Mushrooms: For delicious mushrooms in your Instant Pot Pork Chops toss in some sliced mushrooms to cook along with the gravy at the end.
    • Sauce: You can experiment with the flavor of the pork chops with gravy by adding different sauce ingredients to the gravy mixture. Mix in the ingredients when youre adding the cornstarch to thicken the sauce. There are plenty of delicious flavors to try like Worcestershire sauce, mustard, or apple cider vinegar.
    • Honey Pork chops: Try making Honey Pork Chops for a sweeter recipe. Add 2-3 tablespoons of honey to the sauce recipe before drizzling it over the pork chops. Another option instead of honey is mixing in some brown sugar.
    • Creamy Pork Chops: To make more creamy pork chops, add thick creamy ingredients to the sauce like sour cream or heavy cream. The sour cream will add a bit of tang that the heavy cream wont, so it depends on the flavor you want in your sauce.
    • Broth: You can exchange the chicken broth for beef broth, vegetable broth, or use low sodium chicken broth.

To begin making Instant Pot BBQ Pork and Rice I cut 4 loin chops into bite size pieces. I also sliced up some yellow onion.

Then I put some olive oil in the Instant Pot, turned the Pot to the Saute Normal function for 4 minutes and dumped in the cut up pork and sliced onion.

When the Pot turned off I poured in two cups of water and used it to deglaze the Pot.

This is a very important step that involves scraping any food bits off the bottom of the Pot so you avoid the Burn message when the Pot is coming to pressure.

After deglazing the Pot I sprinkled in some long grain white rice. But I DID NOT STIR.

I used a large wooden spoon to gently push the rice into the liquid in the Pot.

After the rice was submerged I dumped in some gluten free bbq sauce , some garlic powder, salt and pepper. I DID NOT STIR.

  • Serve and enjoy!
