Can You Freeze Instant Pot Pork Chops
Instant pot pork chops freeze well as long as they are properly wrapped to prevent freezer burn. An airtight plastic container will work well, and for double protection put the container in a Ziploc bag. Or wrap them in freezer paper and then put the freezer paper in a Ziploc bag.
They will stay fresh for 3-4 months. When it comes time to eat the instant pot pork chops, then take them out the night before and thaw them out slowly in the refrigerator. Then follow the heating instructions in the previous subheading.
Instant Potfrozen Steak Cook Time
The cook time for our instant pot frozen sirloin steak is JUST20 minutes. Some of you might think that is too short and some will thinkit is too long.
- It only needs 20 minutes because it doesnât need to cook as long as stewing meat because it is already a tender cut of meat.
- If needs as long as 20 minutes because even though steak will cook in 0 minutes, you want your steak to be tender and flavoursome.

How Long To Cook Pork Chops In Instant Pot
Pork Chops can vary in the pressure cooker based on size, thickness and of course marbling. You will need to vary the cooking time slightly if you have different cuts of pork chops.
I use chops about 3/4 to 1 thick with bone in. Just like roast chicken, bone in meat is tender and has tons of flavor. If you have pork steaks they come out melt in your mouth tender but youll need to add a little bit of time if theyre thick. I personally wouldnt recommend thin cut pork chops in the pressure cooker.
- Bone-In Center Cut Chops about 15-18 minutes .
- Boneless Loin Chops I cook to 8-10 minutes.
- Pork Steaks: Pork steaks 1 thick need about 20 minutes, they come out very tender.
If you have frozen pork chops and are pressed for time, you can make Instant Pot frozen pork chops but youll need to add about 5 minutes or so extra. Skip the searing step. Be aware that the Instant Pot will take longer to come up to pressure when you are starting from frozen.

While the recipe calls for chuck roast, you can substitute flank steak or London broil. Readers have also used skirt steak with this recipe, though its a little chewier cut of meat.
Also, if you want to substitute chicken for the beef, go for it! Just change out chicken broth for the beef broth. Dice the chicken into bite-size pieces and reduce the cook time to 3 minutes at high pressure.
My Tips On Seasoning Sous Vide Steak
My preference is to season steak before freezing it.
This is key for busy days in my house. When I get an order of beef in the mail, or stock up at the store, Ill take a moment to vacuum seal the steaks in individual bags with seasonings like salt and pepper. At a minimum Ill use salt and garlic. If Im feeling fancy Ill use a little sous vide steak marinade.
No need for butter in the bag most sous vide enthusiasts agree that the beef comes out tender enough cooking in its own juice and adding butter may actually just dilute the beef flavor. So add compound butter at the end, after the steak cooks.

How Long Does It Take To Cook Steak In An Instant Pot
The answer to this question depends on a series of variable factors.
First, we have the shape of the steak. Are you cooking an entire piece or will you cube/shred the meat?
If youre cooking an entire piece , you should also decide on the result youre aiming for . Still, regardless of the case, you shouldnt use thick pieces the heat must be able to penetrate the meat from top to bottom.
For a rare steak, you only need to use the saute function. For medium and well-done you will need to top the sauteing with some pressure cooking.
I like my steak well-done so I usually leave it in the Instant Pot for about 15 minutes, but you should also adjust the time and temperature according to the size of the steak.
Tender Juicy Instant Pot Pork Chops With Gravy
Pork chops are one of my favorite meals! Somehow they combine a down-home comfort food flavor with the appeal of a good steak, you know? And, if you add a creamy mushroom sauce? Oh. My. Goodness. Serious grub.
If you avoid cooking pork chops, though, I get it! For a lot of cooks, pork chops are one of those protein options that are just frustrating. Weve all had nice, juicy pork chops, and probably most of us have cooked disappointingly tough, dry pork chops. After one failed attempt, it seems easier to just cook something you know, especially on busy nights.
But, these pork chops always come out super tender and juicy, because theyre made in the Instant Pot! The pressurized cooking in the Instant Pot practically guarantees a delicious result every time, as long as you have the right thickness of the pork chops and the correct amount of liquid.

Making A Pressure Cooker Steak
The most common way to cook a ribeye steak is to grill or saute it to medium-rare, preserving the tender juiciness that the marbling of the steak provides. Pressure-cooking is best-suited for a large, tougher piece of beef thats not naturally as tender.
The high pressure that the steam creates into the pressure cooker breaks down the tough fibers of these cuts, allowing them to taste like theyve been slow-cooked, simmered or braised for hours. Ideal cuts of meat for pressure-cooking include chuck roast, beef ribs and oxtail.
Heres how the pressure cooker works: The liquid within a sealed, airtight pot builds up pressure, which raises the boiling pot of the water.
The higher temperature of the liquid not only cooks the food faster but also forces moisture into the food, which allows it to become tender much more quickly than with other cooking methods.
According to Utah State University Extension, pressure cooking also retains more nutrients than other methods of cooking, as food cooks more quickly and very little liquid is required.
However, pressure cooking doesnt allow for cooking foods to various degrees of doneness, like a grill or saute pan would the recommended ways to cook a ribeye, according to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Therefore, if you want to cook a ribeye steak in the pressure cooker, be prepared for a well-done piece of meat.
An Amazing Steak Recipe
So then one day you forget to take those steaks out of the freezer. So what are your options?
- Thaw so you have the option to let the steak thaw but this will take quite some time, so not really an option if you are stressed for time
- Water you can put the steaks in a plastic bag and then put the bag with steaks in a bowl with cold water. Leave the top of the bag open and only put the steaks underwater. The cold water will thaw the steaks but this can take between 30 minutes to an hour
- Microwave you can thaw steak in a microwave but I am not a fan. When you put the steak in the microwave and you do not pay close attention you can get slightly cooked and watery steaks
- Air Fryer cook your steak in the Air Fryer and you do not need to thaw it first
Out of all these options, the Air Fryer is your best bet because you will get tasty delicious steak without losing a lot of extra time.

What Steaks Can I Cook From Frozen
There are a couple of things to know about cooking steaks from frozen, the first is choosing the right steaks and the second is proper preparation. You cant just throw 3 or 4 frozen-together-steaks in the oven and expect them to come out with crispy crusts and perfectly done interiors.
Steaks that are between 1 and 1 1/2 inches thick are best for this method. I have found that porterhouse, rib-eye, or T-bone work very well. If you arent familiar with these cuts, Beef, Its Whats for Dinner has a great resource.
Different Cuts Of Steak
Filet mignon is cut from beef tenderloin. It is incredibly tender and flavorful. This cut of meat is expensive due to its extremely tender texture.
Ribeye steak is heavily marbled and extra juicy. It comes from the ribs and can be boneless or bone in.
Strip steak is another common cut of beef. It is cut from the short loin.
Sirloin steaks are cut from the sirloin, which is near the back of the animal. These boneless steaks are more affordable than other cuts.
Skirt steak is long and thin. It is cute from the belly. Skirt steak can be incredibly flavorful despite its abundance of connective tissue.
Flank steak is very similar to skirt steak. It is slightly more wide and thick than skirt steak.
There are many other cuts of steaks, but these are the ones I recommend for cooking in the Instant Pot.
