To make sure theres enough liquid in the pressure cooker, add some beef broth in as cooking liquid but dont forget that it also helps to deglaze the bottom of the pan. Scrape up all those toasty browned bits with a wooden spoon so they end up in the sauce, then add a good spoonful of minced garlic, more butter, and some black pepper to balance it all out.

The steak needs only 10 minutes of cooking under high pressure, giving you plenty of time to prepare a vegetable side dish or salad. And dont forget to sprinkle in a small handful of parsley at the end to add some freshness to all that buttery goodness.

    What Is Steak Diane

Steak Diane originated in the US and was very popular in the 50s and 60s.

It is simple dish of pan-fried steak served in a sauce made with the accumulated juices, brandy, shallots, mushrooms, herbs and occasionally cream.

It was sometimes prepared at the restaurant table and theatrically flambeéd by lighting the cognac or brandy in the sauce. While this is fun watch out for long hair! it doesnt actually add much to the taste.

By the way, the Diane in the name likely refers to Diana Roman;goddess of the hunt Although who knows, maybe theres a real-life Diane behind this recipe

Of course cook time will depend on how well done you like the inside. If you follow the recipe below it will get you to a medium cook, BUT thats assuming your pieces are the same thickness. Use our steak doneness temperatures chart for reference.

We bought an entire cow a while back and have our little buddy all wrapped up in the freezer. Needless to say we have A LOT of beef to use. These sirloin steaks were on the list of needing to be prepared.

    • I thought some onions and russet potatoes would be a great add in our meal too.

Now lets talk Instant Pot steak. There are a lot of differences obviously.

How To Make Pot Roast In A Pressure Cooker

In our photos, we are using a 6-quart Instant Pot, which is an electric pressure cooker. Other brands make electric pressure cookers, too. If you own one of them, you should be able to use this recipe without any problems .

Step 1, Season the beef and bring to room temperature. Ive already touched on this above, but Ill quickly do it again, here. After testing, we found that when we left the beef out on the counter to come closer to room temperature before cooking it, the pot roast was much more tender at the end of the cook time. I also love that the beef gets a chance to sit with the salt for about an hour before cooking. In this time, the salt seeps into the meat and helps to season and tenderize it.

Step 2, Brown the beef on all sides. By browning the beef on all sides before cooking at high pressure, we add color to the meat and add lots of flavor to the pot. For a one pot meal, brown the beef right in the pressure cooker using the Saute function. If your pressure cooker does not have this function, simply brown the beef in a heavy pan on the stove. After browning, I remove the beef so I can move onto the veggies.

Step 5, Pressure cook until the beef is tender. As I mentioned above, the time you need to cook will vary depending on how large the piece of beef is that you are cooking. We have found that a 3-pound roast takes 60 minutes at high pressure before it is tender.

Why Is It Taking So Long For The Instant Pot Timer To Start

The Instant Pot doesnt start its countdown until the pot has come up to pressure. This is why its important to make sure your lid is set to sealing. Once sealed, the pot will build pressure and youll see the pin beside the valve go up. At that point, the Instant Pot has come up to pressure and the timer will start. Mine took about 15 minutes to reach pressure.

What Is Natural Pressure Release What About Quick Release

Natural pressure release is when you leave the Instant Pot alone and let the pressure decrease on its own. It allows the cooking to stop gradually. All you have to do is leave the pressure cooker alone and over time, the metal pin in the lid will drop and the lid will unlock. Quick release is when you turn the valve on the lid and the pressure leaves the pot immediately.

    What Is Pot Roast

Pot roast is more of a method than a specific cut of meat. To make it, sear a large cut of beef until browned on all sides, and then cook it with aromatics like herbs, onions, carrots, and broth until its melt-in-your-mouth tender.

You can make this in a Dutch oven on the stove-top, in the oven, in a slow cooker, and in a pressure cooker. In this recipe, we are using a pressure cooker to make the pot roast. A pressure cooker takes the cook time down dramatically.

    Slow Cooker Blade Steaks

    Instant Pot Beef Stew Recipe

Slow cooker blade steaks served with noodles and acorn squash.

Today was one of those days when I am very glad that I have a slow-cooker. Busy, Busy, Busy! ;But I was still able to put an attractive and very tasty meal together and my husband and I really enjoyed it. The only time I spent on it was to saute the onions before putting everything in the crock pot early in the morning, and as the saying goes set it and forget it.

This;recipe was originally ;written using a pot roast which I often do make, but today I used blade steaks instead and got an extremely tender and flavorful result. You will note that the recipe calls for adding carrots and potato to the slow cooker with the meat, but for today I cooked some wide egg noodles to go with it. ;The recipe produces a good quantity of gravy and so its good to have some thing that will go with the gravy like mashed potatoes or noodles.

To produce a successful meat in the slow cooker you need something to give lots of flavor; ;in this case sun-dried tomatoes, herbs and garlic. You will also be using less liquid than oven or stovetop versions, but the moisture in the slow-cooker ;plus meat juices will contribute to the gravy.

    SLOW COOKER BLADE STEAKS

    DIRECTIONS

    1. ;To prepare meat: sprinkle steaks evenly with salt and pepper.

    2. ;Spray the interior of the cooker insert with non-stick spray. ;Place the meat in the cooker.

Blade steaks in the slow cooker insert.

    4. ;To serve, remove bay leaves and discard, ;serve with the gravy.
