How to Use Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid…A Basics Tutorial For Beginners

Setting up the Instant Pot with the Air Fryer lid is actually pretty easy. First, locate the slots on the base unit. Place the air fryer lid on the base unit in such a way that the fins go into the slots. Push down gently so that the power units on both- the base unit and the lid come in contact with each other. When this is done correctly, you will hear a chime.

To open the lid, just gently lift it up, and then place it face side down on a protective pad until it has completely cooled down.

Instant Pot Accessories That Are Not Worth It

Mesh BasketsPrice: $30. Buy at:.All the Instant Pot models in our ratings do relatively poorly in our lab tests for steaming vegetables. Do fine-mesh wire baskets help at all? They do not. Still, if you use your Instant Pot to steam veggies regularly, this basket allows you to make large batches without having to transfer the pieces one by one out of the pot when theyre done. The smaller basket also nests inside the larger basket, so you can steam two vegetables while keeping them separated.

What Is An Air Fryer

This is the healthy equivalent of deep frying since it only uses heat energy and a tiny amount of oil. In addition, air fryers are a lot safer to use than appliances that need a lot of oil and dont make as much of a mess.

Unlike a multicooker, air fryers are only designed for one thing: making foods crispy. They have a special basket that goes under a heating element and a fan that makes sure the hot air circulates all the way through the basket, thus cooking the food. As a result, the food cooks faster and there will be less drying than if you were doing this in an oven.

Overall, the air fryer is perfect for all types of kitchens and can help you cook delicious and crispy meals for years to come.

Air Frying Vs Deep Frying

Let’s get it out there “air frying does not completely replace deep frying“. Even though air fryers do a pretty good job crisping food, some things are still best to deep fry. eg. things that have a thin batter.

I always say that air frying is closer to baking or roasting in the oven, but is much quicker. The result is similar to roasting foods, making them light and crispy.

Comparing the two:

  • Deep frying uses a lot of oil, and the foods ideally need to be submerged in the oil. While air fryers can work with as less as a teaspoon of oil, so they can be considered healthier.
  • Deep fried food is crispier compared to air fried food. Air fried might seem a little dry compared to deep fried food, as typically much lesser oil is used.
  • Air fryer can be used for roasting, grilling, or even baking muffins or desserts. While a deep fryer can only be used for deep frying.
  • You cannot air fry light foods which might fly in the air fryer due to the circulating hot air. eg. popcorn or Indian papadum.

The Foods That You Can Cook

Another difference between the two is the foods that you can cook in each of them. If you are looking for versatility, we suggest going for Instant Pot. They have different models that can cook almost anything.

Some of the foods that you can cook in an Instant Pot include beef, chicken, pork, fish, rice, vegetables, beans, noodles, eggs, yogurt, and porridge. It also has different cooking methods, so you can experiment with more recipes.

Meanwhile, with air frying, you have a more limited option. As the name implies, it uses convection air to fry some food. You can cook nuggets, wings, fries, porkchops, potato chips, and eggs, among others.

Today, however, air fryers are being more multifunctional. They go beyond air frying, allowing you to replace multiple appliances at home. Some can also work as a pressure cooker, seamer, broiler, and oven, among other things.

What Is An Air Fryer And What Is It Good For

Air fryers sound like magical machines: They fry food with little to no oil?! Well, sort of. Air frying is technically not frying at all because, in order to really fry food, you have to submerge it in oil. Instead, air fryers work more like small convection ovens. These machines have a heating element and a fan that blows the hot air around the cooking chamber. The air is swirled around super-quickly in a circular fashion, and the food usually sits in a perforated basket. Both of these factors work together to result in perfect crisping for all sorts of things not just mozzarella sticks and chicken wings, either.

Weve found that nearly every vegetable tastes better after a quick 15-minute sting in an air fryer. Brussels sprouts cook up the best with a crispy exterior and the most tender insides youll ever have. We also recommend broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, and more. You can even bake quick breads and cookies in your air fryer.

    Which One Is Healthier

It all depends on the type of food youre cooking and the amount of oil you use. Both appliances designed to make life in the kitchen easier by speeding up the cooking process.

However, if it were to run a comparison, Id have to give the edge to Instant Pot cookers because they use steam to cook the food and keep the nutrients inside. Air fryers use heat and a dab of oil to produce crispy textures, but they lose some of the nutrients in the process.

Instant Pot Vs Air Fryer: Which Should You Get

If youre looking at your kitchen right now, wondering how you can possibly fit in two more new small appliances, we have some good news for you. Ditto if youre working with a tight budget and only want to spend money on one thing. The folks at Instant Pot recently came out with an Instant Pot thats also an air fryer.

The Instant Pot Duo Crisp does all the things that the other Instant Models do, but it also comes with an air fryer lid and a multi-level air fryer basket. Weve tested out all the features and remain incredibly impressed. It does all the things well without sacrifice. You can make jammy hard-boiled eggs and crispy chicken with broccoli in the same machine. Its also quieter than other air fryers weve tested.

Things To Consider When Choosing An Air Fryer

Air fryers are all the rage these days. I get this asked all the time “which one should I buy?” So here I am sharing some things to consider when choosing an air fryer.

I am a huge kitchen gadget geek!! Especially when they make my cooking faster and easier. Instant pot is on the top of the list, and a second close is the air fryer, and the third is a kitchenaid stand mixer.

There are many times when I am cooking a curry in the instant pot, and roasting veggies in the air fryer, and making dough in the kitchenaid all at the same time, and dinner is ready in less than 30 minutes. Yes, it is possible!

Air Fryer are amazing! I love that it can make easy side dishes such as roasted vegetables, or even main dishes such as chicken, with a fraction of the oil, and in less than half the time of cooking in the oven. I also find that air frying is one of the best ways to reheat crispy foods or pizza, and it is the best way to cook up frozen appetizers.

It definitely has been worth it, and I use it almost every day. Which means my air fryer does deserves the space on my countertop.

Why You Shouldnt Use An Air Fryer

An air fryer may not be for everyone. You need to use it in the right way in order to get the best out of it. Here is why you shouldnt use an air fryer:

The food in an air fryer doesnt taste like fried food. Its crispy but not like deep-fried. So if you love eating deep-fried food then dont think of an air fryer as your key to eating it without feeling guilty! Also, if you are looking for a multipurpose appliance and dont mind some extra oil on your food , youd probably be better off getting an Instant Pot.

The air fryer is quite expensive to buy and run. If you run it on a low temperature then it can get expensive. Running the Instant Pot on a high setting will be cheaper than running it on a low setting in an air fryer.

An air fryer takes up a lot of counter space because you need to place the bowl and hot-tray inside the appliance while using it. So if you dont like taking up space then an air fryer may not be for you!

Air frying produces some smoke, which may bother some people. You may need to turn the smoke alarm off while using an air fryer.
