Testing Perfect Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

How to Make Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

Ill spare you my elaborate spreadsheet of testing and results but I tested on low pressure and high pressure, with a quick pressure release and slow release, with an ice bath and without, conventional white eggs and cage-free pasture-raised brown eggs.

My results showed cooking eggs on high pressure , with a slow release of 5 minutes and another 5 minutes in an ice bath was the golden method.

I was able to cook them on low pressure successfully to my criteria too though it took longer and they werent quite as easy to peel.

I think the ice bath serves to both cool the eggs and stop the cooking process as well as improves peel-ability they peel like a dream.

I did run into a surprise during this testing, however: that these are the best hard boiled eggs Ive ever eaten!

The white is perfectly cooked without being rubbery.

The yolks are light and fluffy with a beautiful flavor.

They are also a brilliant yellow with no grayish outer ring from over cooking. Im very excited about how to make the perfect Instant Pot hard boiled eggs!!

    Instant Pot Frozen Chicken Breast

The process for cooking frozen chicken is not much different than cooking thawed or fresh chicken breast. But there are 2 things to keep in mind.

    • You will need to add 4 minutes to the cooking time.
    • If your chicken breasts are frozen together, I suggest placing them in a bowl of cold water for a couple of minutes until you can break them apart into individual breasts. They need to be separated, not frozen together, or you will end up with chicken that is not cooked evenly.

    Removing The Egg Loaf

Now I open up the Instant Pot & carefully pull the trivet and bowl out of the Instant Pot, setting it aside to cool for a few minutes.

If you didnt cover the pan or bowl you used to cook the eggs, blot moisture with a paper towel now.

My eggs didnt slide out of the bowl like Id hoped. I still needed to run a spatula around the exterior of my egg loaf to finish loosening it from the bowl it was cooked in. Then I inverted the bowl over a cutting board to remove the cooked eggs from the bowl.

Although I used what I had at the time, I wonder if using cooking spray would help them slide out better? Or maybe a non-stick cake pan? If yall have those things you might give it a try.

    • At 3 minutes, the egg yolks will be soft and runny in the center with whites that are just set.
    • At 4 to 5 minutes, the egg yolks will be jammy and bright yellow in the center with firmer whites.
    • At 6 to 7 minutes, the egg yolks will be mostly set and the whites firm.
    • At 8 to 9 minutes, the egg yolks will be completely cooked .

For snacks, deviled eggs, and chopped eggs for salads, I like cooking at high pressure for 7 to 8 minutes. For eggs perfect for soups like ramen, I stick with the runny middles that 3 minutes creates.
