You can use baby carrots if you would prefer.
Swap the brown sugar with honey if you would like a honey glazed carrot.
Add in a dash of cayenne pepper for a sweet and spicy carrt.
If you use smaller slices of carrots do either 0 or 1 minute cook. Carrots won’t take long at all, and if you overcook the carrots will be mushy.
Store any leftover carrots in the fridge for 4-5 days.
Use a silicone sling for carrots or make a bowl to place carrots in if you don’t own a sling.
You do not want the carrots in the water or it will make them too soft.

For Whole Butternut Squash:
- Peel the butternut squash if desired. Slice the butternut squash in half or quarters either way horizontally or vertically and remove the seeds.
- OR leave the butternut squash whole. You can skip the first step and make it seriously easy if you can fit the entire squash in the pot. It will be more difficult to scoop out the seeds cleanly, and this is not my preferred method personally.
- Place the halves into the trivet or directly into the put with one cup of water.
- Cook on high pressure for around 12 minutes and follow up with a natural pressure release for 5 minutes before performing a quick release.
How To Cook Carrots In Instant Pot Pressure Cooker
Wash and slice off the ends of the carrots. Cut the carrots into small chunks around 2-inch size.
You can use potato peeler to scrape off the skin of the carrots if you wish but I do not as I like to retain all nutrients.
Add water in the instant pot and put steamer basket or trivet in the pot.
Put the diced carrots in the steamer basket or trivet then close the instant pot with its lid. Turn the valve into sealing position.
Set instant pot to manual pressure cook high 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes pressure cooking, do a quick release.
Take out carrots and pour in a bowl. If using butter, add on the carrots immediately so it melts into it.
Sprinkle with black pepper and salt
Serve, garnish and enjoy with sides of choice.

I used to make Instant Pot steamed vegetables WITHOUT a steamer basket, using a small pyrex bowl instead, but that didnt give me consistent results.
The vegetables at the top of the bowl were steamed, but the ones at the bottom the ones that werent really getting any air circulation werent.
So that left me with some steamed vegetables and more work to do in the kitchen.
I dug around into the best steamer basket for the Instant Pot and decided on this one. I love that it
So while you CAN steam vegetables in an Instant Pot without a steamer basket, I dont recommend it. Splurge and treat yourself your future self will thank you!
Note: You need a glass lid in order to use the steam function on the Instant Pot, not the Instant Pot lid, and odds are you already have one that works! If you have a cookware set with different sizes of pans try using a larger lid that fits your instant pot.

Why Carrots And Why Steamed Carrots
Carrots are cultivated all around the world and are easily available all year round. They are nutritious and not to forget, budget friendly. Carrots are rich in anti-oxidants, vitamins and dietary fiber. They are only about 41 calories per 4oz, with a negligible amount of fat and no cholesterol.
Carrots are also an exceptionally rich source of carotenes and vitamin-A. The traditional orange colored carrots get their bright color from beta-carotene, an antioxidant that is converted to vitamin A in the body.
Carrots are about 10% carbs, consisting of starch, fiber and simple sugars. They rank low on the glycemic index scale.
