Turkey Legs Instant Pot Ingredients
Turkey I recommend any turkey drumsticks in this recipe. Just a single medium sized one is plenty to feed two for lunch or for dinner.
Onion When I make turkey legs in the instant pot, I love to sauté the onion first and give some flavour to the instant pot, before adding in other ingredients.
Peppers This gives it a Mediterranean flavour like an instant pot paella, and what lovely colour it gives your rice. Just some red peppers will do the trick, but you can mix up the colours.
Veggies You can also add in other veggies. I like to use carrots, but its all about personal choice.
Rice I recommend brown rice. It is longer cooking which works well alongside your turkey leg and makes it more nutritious.
Wine I also love to add in some white wine for flavour and you can also use white wine to deglaze the instant pot too before pressure cooking.,
Seasoning I love to season my turkey leg and rice recipe with mixed herbs, garlic puree, thyme, parsley, rosemary, and salt and pepper. You can of course mix and match with what you have in.
Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this instant pot turkey leg and rice recipe, it has just been our Instant Pot. We have this one and it does an amazing job and is also ideal for sauteing and then pressure cooking your one pot dinners.
How To Make Collard Greens In A Pressure Cooker
Im going to start by making the smoky broth or potlikker before adding the greens. That will mean running the Instant Pot twice.
Set the Instant Pot to SAUTÉ and add the olive oil followed by the onion and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes to soften then hit the CANCEL button. Season the pot with the all-purpose seasoning, sugar, and red pepper flakes.
Next, add the smoked turkey meat and chicken broth. Place the lid securely and set the seal to CLOSED. Turn the pressure cooker setting to HIGH for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, quick release the pressure for the next step.
Open the pressure cooker and add the greens. Use a long-handled spoon or tongs to push the collard down into the broth. Securely place the lid and set the Instant Pot to HIGH for 25 minutes. Again, use the quick-release valve to release the pressure.
After the cooking time, carefully remove the turkey pieces to a plate to take the meat off of the bones. Stir the smoked turkey meat into greens. The greens are ready to eat at this point. Season then with a little salt and pepper if desired. Serve with vinegar and hot sauce on the side.
