Removing Smells From Instant Pot

Sometimes after youve burned something in the inner pot, or youve cooked something especially aromatic, youll also want to go a step further and remove the food smell from the Instant Pot.

This happens to me most often when I cook things like a pork shoulder, carnitas, or chili. The smell from that meal is very aromatic and it stays in the pot embedded in the lid and seal for weeks.

To remove the smells, after youve cleaned the pot, add these things to the inner pot:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 wedges of fresh lemon

Lock the lid and set to steam for 3 minutes. Allow a natural pressure release. Then remove the pot and rinse it out.

Make sure you thoroughly dry the lid and the inner pot before putting them back into the Instant Pot. This completely removes the smell from the pot and the lid. Its a little bit of magic.

How To Clean Tough Stains With Baking Soda

For a quick and natural deep clean, use baking soda, a little bit of water and a scrubbing pad or cloth. Avoid steel wool pad as it will scarth the pot.

  • You want to make the pot just wet inside and dump the water out so baking soda doesnt dissolve in water losing its scrubbing ability.
  • Sprinkle about 2 tbsp of baking soda inside the pot.
  • Scrub with damp pad or cloth until clean.
  • Rinse and dry you wont see if rainbow spots are gone until you dry the pot.
  • Final verdict: This is what pot looks like when cleaned with baking soda cleaner than with dish soap but you can still see the discoloration.

Can You Clean Your Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid In A Dishwasher

First off, your air fryer lid is about 11 pounds which makes it heavy.

Too heavy to fit into the dishwasher. Besides, such an appliance is unfit to be washed in a dishwasher.

The manufacturer would know if it is necessary to use a dishwasher or not. So always check the manufacturers manual.

How To Clean An Instant Pot Heating Element

How to clean your Instant Pot when stuff is burnt on to ...

The heating element of the Instant Pot is built into the cooker itself, so it should never be submerged in water. But occasionally you may have a bit of food overflow, which then drips down into the heating element. To safely clean the instant Pot heating element, follow these steps:

    Tools and Materials Needed:

Step 1: Unplug your Instant Pot

Unplug your Instant Pot and let it cool off completely. Never attempt to clean any part of the Instant Pot while plugged in. The heating element gets very hot, so a few hours of cooling will ensure that you avoid getting burned.

    Step 2:Clean the Heating Element

Wipe the entire heating element with clean paper towels to remove any food residue or moisture from the element.

Step 3: Make a Cleaning Paste

On a very small plate, combine the baking soda and vinegar to form a thick paste. Add vinegar or baking soda to the solution in minimal amounts to get the consistency of toothpaste.

    Step 4:Apply the Paste

Apply the paste directly onto the heating element, avoiding any wiring. Stay as close to the outer edges as possible while still cleaning the food residue.

Step 5: Wipe the Paste Off

Allow the paste to sit for five minutes, then wipe it off with a damp paper towel or sponge. Keep rinsing the heating element with the sponge or clean, damp paper towels until the paste is removed.

Let the heating element air dry before using it.

Cleaning The Rim Of The Instant Pot

The food caught between the rim of the Instant Pot can be hard to clean. For this, I use a DIY solution. Wrap a kitchen towel or microfiber cleaning cloth around a chopstick or anything pointy, and clean by moving the towel around the rim. I have also successfully used a paper towel to clean the rim.

You can also use a small brush to get in the rim and remove the residues. Here is a great brush that some users have been recommending to get into the rim – Foam Brush. Wet the brush with some water. If there is too much grease, you can add a drop of soap on the brush and move it along the rim. Then use another foam brush to dry the rim.
