Ways To Fix Instant Pot Heating Element Burn
It is always good to cook your food in an Instant Pot. Pressure cookers have been around for quite a while, but the Instant Pot combines technology to provide a fast and smooth cooking experience.
It assists you in cooking excellent dishes without taking up a great deal of time. Think of it as a new and advanced pressure cooker.
Not only does it save you time, but it also reduces the amount of effort involved in making your favorite dishes.
But in some situations, the Instant Pot may end up causing more problems for you than you might have liked. For instance, many people end up burning the heating element of their Instant Pot.
It is never a good thing when your Instant Pot fails to turn on, and then you realize theres an issue with the heating element.
After all, the heating element is actually the core component of the whole thing, so if that doesnt work properly or as it should, it could lead to a serious problem.
A heating element burn can prove to be a bit problematic, but its definitely something that you can deal with.
People usually prefer to buy a new Instant Pot when they have burned the heating element of their previous one.
The situation is often one of despair, but before you even think about splurging on a new Instant Pot and add a considerable expense to your monthly budget, you may want to try a few ways to fix it.
There are several methods that you can try to repair the heating element burn.
Removing Smells From Instant Pot
Sometimes after youve burned something in the inner pot, or youve cooked something especially aromatic, youll also want to go a step further and remove the food smell from the Instant Pot.
This happens to me most often when I cook things like a pork shoulder, carnitas, or chili. The smell from that meal is very aromatic and it stays in the pot embedded in the lid and seal for weeks.
To remove the smells, after youve cleaned the pot, add these things to the inner pot:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 2 wedges of fresh lemon
Lock the lid and set to steam for 3 minutes. Allow a natural pressure release. Then remove the pot and rinse it out.
Make sure you thoroughly dry the lid and the inner pot before putting them back into the Instant Pot. This completely removes the smell from the pot and the lid. Its a little bit of magic.
How To Clean Tough Stains With Baking Soda
For a quick and natural deep clean, use baking soda, a little bit of water and a scrubbing pad or cloth. Avoid steel wool pad as it will scarth the pot.
Final verdict: This is what pot looks like when cleaned with baking soda cleaner than with dish soap but you can still see the discoloration.

Can You Clean Your Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid In A Dishwasher
First off, your air fryer lid is about 11 pounds which makes it heavy.
Too heavy to fit into the dishwasher. Besides, such an appliance is unfit to be washed in a dishwasher.
First off, there will be a lot of internal damages not only to the dishwasher but also to the appliance in question.
The dishwasher washes with excessive heat and then, there is every tendency that the heat will melt either the paint on the lid itself or the paint on the heating elements and fan.
Another most important thing you should always check before washing any appliance is that you should always check the manufacturers manual for instructions.
The manufacturer would know if it is necessary to use a dishwasher or not. So always check the manufacturers manual.
How To Clean An Instant Pot Heating Element
The heating element of the Instant Pot is built into the cooker itself, so it should never be submerged in water. But occasionally you may have a bit of food overflow, which then drips down into the heating element. To safely clean the instant Pot heating element, follow these steps:
Tools and Materials Needed:
Step 1: Unplug your Instant Pot
Unplug your Instant Pot and let it cool off completely. Never attempt to clean any part of the Instant Pot while plugged in. The heating element gets very hot, so a few hours of cooling will ensure that you avoid getting burned.
Step 2:Clean the Heating Element
Wipe the entire heating element with clean paper towels to remove any food residue or moisture from the element.
Step 3: Make a Cleaning Paste
On a very small plate, combine the baking soda and vinegar to form a thick paste. Add vinegar or baking soda to the solution in minimal amounts to get the consistency of toothpaste.
Step 4:Apply the Paste
Apply the paste directly onto the heating element, avoiding any wiring. Stay as close to the outer edges as possible while still cleaning the food residue.
Step 5: Wipe the Paste Off
Allow the paste to sit for five minutes, then wipe it off with a damp paper towel or sponge. Keep rinsing the heating element with the sponge or clean, damp paper towels until the paste is removed.
Let the heating element air dry before using it.

Cleaning The Rim Of The Instant Pot
The food caught between the rim of the Instant Pot can be hard to clean. For this, I use a DIY solution. Wrap a kitchen towel or microfiber cleaning cloth around a chopstick or anything pointy, and clean by moving the towel around the rim. I have also successfully used a paper towel to clean the rim.
You can also use a small brush to get in the rim and remove the residues. Here is a great brush that some users have been recommending to get into the rim – Foam Brush. Wet the brush with some water. If there is too much grease, you can add a drop of soap on the brush and move it along the rim. Then use another foam brush to dry the rim.

Goodbye Stains And Burnt
The Spruce / Diana Rattray
While one of the main selling points of the Instant Pot is the reduced cooking time, there are other advantages, including easy cleaning. For many recipes, the inner pot is the only pan you’ll need to scrub down, making cleanup a breeze. Whether you use your Instant Pot electric pressure cooker every day or only occasionally, here’s what you need to know about keeping it clean and working properly.
Most parts of the Instant Pot can be washed in the dishwasher. The inner pot, sealing ring, and trivet are all dishwasher safe, and the lid is top-rack dishwasher safe. Use a clean, damp cloth to clean the outside of the Instant Pot base. Always unplug the Instant Pot before cleaning.
Do not wash the base. If it does happen to get wet, let it dry thoroughly before using.

Clean the inner pot with warm, soapy water or wash it in the dishwasher. For stuck-on pieces of food, try scrubbing with baking soda or a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner, such as Bar Keepers Friend. If the pot has some light staining or discoloration, wipe it down with some vinegar. Always dry parts thoroughly before returning to the Instant Pot. Store the pot with the lid upside-down.

Periodically remove the steam release valve and check it for debris. Wash it with warm soapy water and rinse it thoroughly. When it’s dry, place it back on the lid.
