Frozen Vegetable Soup Mix

Instant Pot Steamed Vegetables

This is the bag of frozen vegetable soup mix that I used:

We were living in Portugal when I made this instant pot frozen mixed vegetable soup and I used the bag above from the French supermarket that was down the road from where we lived.

It was a medley of vegetables and included carrots, cauliflower, peas, and a few other vegetables too.

You just need to find any bag of mixed frozen vegetables for this recipe. It can be what we used, it could be frozen cauliflower, broccoli, and peas, or even vegetables you have blanched and frozen yourself.

How Long Do You Cook Chicken In The Instant Pot

Instant Pot Steamed Vegetables

It depends on several factors: whether youre cooking from frozen or fresh. Also, how big the cut of meat is, whether its boneless or not, and what other ingredients youre cooking it with.

But on average, this how long you cook each cut in the pressure cooker:

  • Breasts: Do 10 mins for firm meat , and about 15 mins for very tender meat thats easy to shred. Here is a quick post on how to cook frozen breasts in the IP.;
  • Thighs: 12 mins for bone-in, about 10 mins for boneless, and 14 from frozen.

For Small Pumpkin Pieces:

  • If you have a small pumpkin, you can cut it in half to de-seed it. If you have a larger pumpkin, you can slice off the stem first and de-seed it like you would before carving a Jack-O-Lantern. Once the seeds and stringy bits are out, you can slice it into small chunks or slices.

Can I Use Any Steamer Basket In An Instant Pot

Most of the models of Instant Pot brand pressure cookers are sold with a free steamer basket. If you own an electric pressure cooker made by a different company, that may not be the case. You have nothing to worry about, though. Any steamer basket that fits inside of your pressure cooker will work just fine.

The steamer basket for making Instant Pot steamed vegetables is made of metal. If you need to buy a steamer basket from the store, you can find them near the kitchen tools. They are available in either metal or silicone. Choose whichever type you prefer; both types will work exactly the same way.

The reason youll want to use a steamer basket for steaming vegetables in an Instant Pot is to keep the vegetables elevated above the water. If you place them directly into the liquid, they wont steam, they will boil. As a result, you may end up with limp, overcooked veggies.

As a last resort, you can also place the veggies into a fine mesh sieve, but only if its made out metal or silicone. You should never use plastic in an Instant Pot because it is likely to melt.

Instant Pot Roast Beef And Vegetables A Classic Recipe

Its time for a new Instant Pot recipe and one of the most requested and most popular recipe is Instant Pot Roast Beef and Vegetables.

One of the main reasons that I purchased my Instant Pot was to make roast beef in a fraction of time that it took to make in my slow cooker.

Instant Pot Roast Beef and Vegetables Tender, juicy and cooked all at the same time!

I wanted it to have fall apart tenderness without losing the savory flavor of it being cooked all day long.

So when I read stories upon stories of other people making Instant Pot Roast Beef and it coming out dry and tough I was worried.

I was determined to recreate the moist and juicy, fall apart tender roast beef that I was familiar with.

This was difficult to do because I wasnt willing to waste cuts of beef in the process. My only option was to spend several weeks researching recipes and reading reviews on those recipes that others had trialed.

It was amazing what variations that you can find on the internet! The cook times ranged from 15 minutes to 90 minutes!

No wonder why everyone was confused!

There were some recipes that seared the meat prior to cooking and some that stated they would NEVER throw in vegetables at the same time as the beef.

The thickness of your roast will determine the amount of cook time.

I dont think that I found two recipes that were the exact same.

I absorbed all the information, and went back to the basics of what I knew and found true in my own kitchen.

Why You Should Eat Vegetables With Fats

Before we get into the recipe, which is super simple by the way, we wanted to address the topic of healthy fats. Although you might have been led to believe that cutting out as much fat as possible is the way to go, its not actually the healthiest way forward. The truth is that our bodies need fat. We need fat to perform certain metabolic functions, to fuel our brain, make sure our hormones work properly, and to help us absorb the fat-soluble vitamins in the food.

While steaming vegetables is a great idea as this cooking method retains more nutrients its also important to add some healthy fats to the cooked carrots and broccoli so that your body can easily absorb all those fat-soluble vitamins . Plus, fats like grass-fed butter, coconut oil and olive oil are full of their own beneficial nutrients.
