Instant Pot Vs Air Fryer
Both the instant pot and air fryers will cook relatively faster than the convection methods of cooking. But, their similarities probably end there are they cook using very different methods and will differ in several other aspects. Here are some of their key differences.
1.How it Works
The cooking method that these appliances use is their main difference because while one uses wet heat the other will cook with dry heat.
Instant pots are just pressure cookers that are designed to use electricity instead of having to place them over a stovetop for the heat source.
The cookers will cook using wet heat and their work mechanism will involve heating water or broth inside a sealed container. The hot liquid then creates steam which unlike in regular cooking method is not able to escape since the container is sealed and hence causing pressure to build up.
The increased pressure then causes the food to cook much faster than in the traditional cooking methods and after coking, you need to release the pressure slowly before you can open up the instant pot.
Air fryers will cook food using dry heat, and they make use of one or several internal heating elements to heat the air inside. The hot air is then circulated over the food using powerful fans and cooks the food as it moves over it.
Safety is many peoples number one concern when using any appliance, and it will be an even more important factor to consider when using instant pots and air fryers.
Instant Pot Vs Air Fryers: Main Function
First of all, Instant Pot is a multi-cooker. It will cook food quickly with less water and steam. It combines different cooking features into one machine to simplify your cooking processes, such as pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, rice cooker, yogurt maker, and so on. On the other hand, the Air Fryer simply fries your favorite foods without oil. It is considered a healthy alternative to deep-frying food.

It Cooks Quicker Than An Oven But Not As Fast As An Air Fryer
I’ve found that when cooking air fryer recipes in the Duo Crisp, you’ll need to add a few minutes to the cook time. For example, the average air fryer recipe calls for cooking fries at 380°F for about 15 minutes, but I find that in the Instant Pot they need about 20 minutes. However, they still produce a crispier and faster result than the oven, which takes about 40 minutes!
Recipes Made For You Instant Vortex Plus
This air fryer is still new to the market, so you might have some limited resources at first. However, as bloggers continue to develop and perfect recipes, you will definitely see more coming through the pipeline in the future.
In the meantime, you can use almost any air fryer recipe with some adjustments on how the food sits. Try using recipes that resemble the same mini-oven shape as the Vortex. At first, it might be a trial and error process until youve honed your own Vortex skills.
Remember, you cant make anything with a liquid batter unless you freeze it first and you also cant make anything in large quantities.

Air Fryer Is Portable
Portability is an essential part of cooking on the go and some people even love carrying their cooking equipment along as they travel. While it is possible with the Instant Pot, it will be a little tougher and this is due to the size.
With the Air Fryer, you can easily have it packed up and this enables you to cook your food wherever you feel you have to.
Air Fryer And Instant Pot Habits
Although they share the same goal of cooking food quicker than more traditional methods, air fryers and Instant Pots work quite differently. An air fryer rapidly circulates hot air around your food to mimic the crispiness achieved by deep-frying. You only need to use a little oil to crisp your food in an air fryer. Certain recipes are even oil-free, further reducing the fat and calorie content.
The Instant Pot, on the other hand, is a more versatile multi-cooker that enables pressure cooking, slow cooking, steaming, and more . Some Instant Pots can also function as an air fryer when outfitted with a special lid.
Though an Instant Pot has more functions to offer a home cook, our study results showed that most people clearly preferred cooking with an air fryer. More than one-third of adults own both of these appliances, yet we saw a large favoritism towards air frying over pressure cooking among this group. While 70% of adults preferred air frying, only 29% preferred pressure cooking.
We also asked men and women how comfortable they feel when using the different functions of their Instant Pot. Only 24% of women were very comfortable using this appliance, while 43% of men reported the same feelings. Pressure cooking may make some home cooks nervous as you need to be extra cautious in order to avoid a kitchen catastrophe. For example, if you release the hot steam incorrectly, you could burn yourself.

Air Fryer Sweet Potatoe Fries
This was the food item that I really want to perfect. I air-fried at 400 F for 15 min. I would suggest experimenting with this temperature and time. I found mine to be dry, not crisp.
I used fresh raw sweet potatoes and first coated them with corn starch, then put coconut oil, cinnamon, salt, brown sugar, and cayenne to the mixture. Next time I would try olive oil instead of coconut oil or maybe use frozen packaged fries instead of raw.
The rotisserie basket was a definite selling point for this air fryer compared to any other on the market. Its important to read the manual to see that there is a red button on the side that lets you install the basket inside. It also releases the basket, but dont worry after the cooking cycle, the red button is warm but not hot to touch.
When you use the basket, you have to select Rotate on the touch screen to start the rotation. I notice it holds a lot but if you fill it too much it wont be able to complete a rotation because of the weight. Also, theres a rotisserie fetch tool that makes it easy to handle the basket, but still wear a glove on opposite hand when you try to place and open the basket on a heat resistant surface. Again, I used a baking tray.
Air Fryer Vs Instant Pot Multi
To learn what kind of appliance is best for you, try to think of the kinds of food that you typically prepare at home.
For example, if you often prepare recipes that are dry and oil-loaded like french fries and Kentucky-style chicken, the air fryer is a no-brainer. You can get the same taste and texture as deep frying. But this time, not only is it far more convenient, but the food will also contain less fat, helping you to improve your diet.
On the other hand, if you often prepareliquid recipes like soups and stews, an Instant Pot cooker is going to be a better choice.
Here is a small table to help you visualize.
You Can’t Fit Much In The Air Fryer Basket
To be fair, this is my complaint with most air fryers, but there are some air fryers and toaster ovens with air fry capabilities that can fit larger amounts. We are a family of 2, so it works ok for us for most applications, but if you are a family of 4 or more, or enjoy making large portions for leftovers, you’ll have to cook your food in multiple batches which is a pain really defeats the purpose of air frying!
Air Fryer Vs Instant Pot: The Differences
The obvious difference between instant pot and air fryer is that you cannot use an Instant Pot for deep frying your food. If you wish to fry your food, the Air Cooker Fryer is the best option. As an alternative, you can sauté your food in an Instant Pot, which is the closest you can come to deep frying.
Other than the above, both are different in their own ways. Below, we have taken into consideration some other criteria and chosen a winner for each:
