To turn beep off, press and hold “-” for 3 seconds and the LCD screen will display “SOFF” “+” to turn on beeps, and LCD will display “S On”.* Beeps will still be “On” in error scenarios, such as temperature sensor failure.* Auto keep warm on/off:- The Auto Keep-warm state is On in factory settings when a cooking program button is pressed.- Auto Keep-warm can now be toggle On and Off by a second press on the same function key, before cooking program starts. During this period the keep warm button indicator becomes on or OFF corresponding to the toggling action.* Memorizing previous program settings: time, pressure, temperature, but not auto-keep-warm* Press and hold Adjust button 3 seconds to reset to factory default* DUO-ENW only : Has a detachable power cord

So as you can see the ENW models really are better and since they are priced roughly the same as their predecessors you really should consider buying them over at Walmart to get the most bang for your buck otherwise buy the non-ENW unit elsewhere to get the same features.

What Can An Instant Pot Accomplish

There are many different models of the Instant Pot currently available and these models also come in different sizes. Some have Bluetooth capability and can be controlled via an app on your phone. This pressure cooker might not have all the bells and whistles as others, but it is still a contender.

The 7-in-1 has several functions all with their own buttons on the front of the Instant Pot. If you aren’t at all familiar with how a traditional pressure cooker works, then you might need to research a bit more before just jumping into the Instant Pot world.

Accessories: Best Ones Sold Separately

Like most multi-cookers, the Instant Pot Duo 60 7-in-1 comes with a plastic rice paddle, small plastic ladle, condensation catcher, and a steamer rack. The rack has handles to make it easier to lift and lower it into the pot. However, its feet are so short that it can be a problem unless you have a small amount of liquid. One recipe we made required steaming sausages on the rack over a bed of lentils, and we noticed the rack nestled into the lentils rather than stood above. In the end, it didnt compromise the dish, but we wished the rack was a little higher.

Although the Instant Pot Duo didnt come with a lot of accessories, the company sells a wide range of options online, including a ceramic nonstick cook pot, glass lid, silicone cake pan, loaf pan, steamer basket, pot grippers, yogurt cups, and color-coded gaskets.

It Has A Pressure Cook Button Instead Of The Usual Manual Button In Most Models

The most important function of an instant pot is pressure cooking. However, most instant pot models dont have a pressure cooker option. The new Duo Plus caters for this need by incorporating the pressure cooker option in its programs. With the addition of pressure cook button as opposed to the manual button, you can now use the instant pot as an electric pressure cooker.

Quart Instant Pot Vs 8 Quart Instant Pot

If you have a large family you may be debating between the 6 quart Instant Pot and the 8 quart Instant Pot when deciding which Instant Pot to buy.

There are 6 people in my family, and I find that the 6 quart size has been roomy enough.

The 8 Quart Instant Pot IP-DUO80 is roomier but there are a few things to consider when choosing between the 6 or 8 qt Instant Pot. The 8 quart unit is

  • taller so you won’t have much space between your upper cabinets and your Instant Pot. When you use the Quick Release function, you will have to move the Instant Pot slightly to direct the steam away from the upper cabinets.
  • more expensive currently the price on Amazon is $204.99 which is more than twice the Instant Pot IP-DUO60.
  • not as common. So, it will be harder to find accessories and recipes that fit this size.

If you feel that the 6 quart will be too small, and you have the space in your kitchen, you may want to consider getting two 6-quart Instant Pots instead of the 8-quart.

The cost will still be less, and you have the option of cooking two different dishes at once .

Clear And Easy To Understand User Manual

People always complained about the lack of clarity and complexity of the manuals of previous instant pot models. However, the new Duos Plus comes with a much-improved manual that is well designed and easy to understand. You can also find the manual on the manufacturers website, and much of it applies to many Instant Pots.

Quart Instant Pot Vs 6 Quart Instant Pot

In your quest to decide which Instant Pot to buy, if you are comparing the 5 Quart Instant Pot to the 6 Quart Instant Pot, in my opinion, the 6 quart is the way to go.

Not a Big Size Difference

First, there is only one quart of a difference in size between the two.

The footprint of each Instant Pot is pretty much the same, as far as how much counter space it will use.

More Flexibility

Given that the size difference is minimal, the 6 Quart Instant Pot offers you more flexibility.

You can certainly cook less food in a larger Instant Pot. But if the Instant Pot is too small, you certainly cannot make more.

Remember the Cushion

When you cook food in a pressure cooker, you should never fill it more than 2/3 full.

You need space at the top for the food to boil.

So, even with a 6 quart Instant Pot, you will not be filling it up all the way when you cook.

More Accessories

Because the 6 Quart model seems to be the most popular option, there are more accessories available for that size.

The Cost is about the Same

Cost could be your deciding factor. Right now, on Amazon, the cost of the 6 Quart Instant Pot IP-DUO60 is $99.99 and the cost of the 5 Quart IP-DUO50 is $97.30.

For less than 3 dollars more, you get the bigger size.

I enjoy finding Instant Pot recipes to try online. Many of these use the 6 Quart Instant Pot.

It cooks quickly, but you’ll need some patience to learn the Instant Pot’s ins and outs.

Advantages Of A Pressure Cooker

There are several advantages to using a pressure cooker like the Instant Pot for your meals. It offers the same results as a slow cooker, only it completes the task in just a fraction of the time. Need to get a quick dinner ready? The Instant Pot is the ideal solution and one of the best kitchen appliances for the job.

However, when timing your meals, you need to remember that there is a cooking time as well as the time it takes for the appliance to build up and release pressure. It can take approximately ten minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure depending on how much you are making. The difference between the Instant Pot coming to pressure and an oven preheating is that the food must be inside of the Instant Pot during the pressurizing process.

Cheesecake: You Can But Should You

We tried making a bunch of dishes in the IP, in addition to rice and beans. We jumped in with an unknown quotient to start a recipe we found online for a chicken dish. Though wed read the manual, we didnt watch any videos. After sloshing some olive oil in the pot with the sauté setting on normal, we soon had a kitchen appliance spitting at us like a cat at the vet. When it came time to actually start pressure cooking, we clamped down the lid, turned the knob to seal, set the timer, and fled the kitchen, just in case. After that, we humbly started our learning process over by making some hard-boiled eggs.

Our meat dishes always turned out really well, especially the chicken carnitas though we did need to finish it in the oven. We found that traditional slow-cooked dishes often fare well in the pressure cooker. These Korean short ribs which weve made the painstakingly long slow-cooker way turned out just as great in the IP. The cookers robust community is both a huge asset and a drawback. There are some fantastic recipes out there, but you may wind up choking some down some unpalatable results as you separate the gourmets from the no-ways.

The cookers robust community is a huge asset.

What Can The Ip

For starters I should say that across the board all the ENW models by Instant Pot were originally made for Walmart. Anyone selling them under that model number elsewhere is likely a second hand seller which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

What you should remember as a consumer is that the ENW model number was rolled out for Walmart but the same features were added to the regular IP-DUO multi-cookers starting in 2016. These days when you look at a new model that is not notated as an ENW model you should assume all of those upgrades are still present. The price is also usually better for the regular models too.

As you can see, the IP-DUO60 is very impressive and it brings so much to the table that it would probably be very difficult to come up with a better instant pressure cooker but again, Instant Pot never fails to keep pushing the envelope. All of their ENW models are after-all upgrades to their regular non-enw counterparts and with the 2017 release of the Instant Pot Plus 60 better appliances are sure to come for a while yet.

In a nutshell, there are not many differences to point out between the two models in terms of design and features. But they say the devil is in the details and the IP-DUO60-ENW improves on even the smallest quirks that give the user a completely different experience.

Which Instant Pot To Buy Choices Choices

At the end of the day, you need to choose the best Instant Pot model for your needs.

Basically, the two areas where you need to make a decision are model and size.

Personally, I use the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 and have been very happy with it. Although, I now covet the newest 6 quart model the DUO Plus.

If you are not familiar with the Instant Pot, it is an electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, sauté pan, steamer, warmer, and yogurt maker all in one. You can read my Instant Pot Review here.

Why We Bought A Pressure Cooker Our Review

Instant Pot® IP-Duo 60 V3 6 Quart | Unboxing

We made this delicious kale, sausage, and white bean soup in our instant pot in no time. But, of course, it would take much longer in the dutch oven!

We know all too well that ripping and running from place to place all day leaves the home cook uninspired. So, when caught in a pinch, and the age-old, ominous, and sometimes anxiety-producing question, whats for dinner? was asked, our default answer often sucked! It would involve golden arches or some other less popular iteration of fast food.

No, we didnt eat fast food every day, but we were often disappointed when we did eat it. We were disappointed in ourselves for once again buying crap to eat, and we were disappointed that we paid so much for food that was so terrible. So mundane. So uninspired.

Our goal is never to eat at a fast-food restaurant again. However lofty and unrealistic that may be, after ingesting two lifetimes worth of fast foods, were done with them.

Our motivation to buy a pressure cooker wasnt just to avoid fast foods but rather to help improve our overall kitchen life. A kitchen mindset makeover, if you will. Of course, Im not saying that the pressure cooker is the holy grail of cooking. Of course, its not, but during the week, our lives are hectic. Nevertheless, the pressure cooker helps us to hit our goals: cook faster, eat healthier, and make meals that taste great.

Which Instant Pot To Buy Let’s Start With Model

The Instant Pot basically comes in two model series.

There is the IP-DUO and the IP-LUX.

Judging from most recipes that I see online it seems that most people opt for the IP-DUO.

For the most part, the two models are similar except that the IP-DUO has a yogurt making functionality and the most current version of the IP-LUX has a cake and egg setting .

The IP-LUX also costs less than a comparable sized IP-DUO.

I prefer the Instant Pot IP-DUO to the Instant Pot IP-LUX series because I do use it to make yogurt and I like researching Instant Pot recipes online .

Price: Affordable And Often Discounted

According to the list price, the 6-quart Duo 60 7-in-1 retails for $99, but its frequently on sale for $69.99 to $79.99 instead. This puts it closer in price to budget-friendly brands like Crock-Pot, which sells a similar cooker for $69.99. And when this model of Instant Pot goes on deep discount thanks to events like Black Friday or Amazon Prime Day, its entirely possible to buy one for as low as $59.

Performance: Precise And Reliable

The Instant Pot Duo is proud to proclaim its a 7-in-1 appliance, featuring the following functions: Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker, and Warmer. The device has its temperature and pressure sensors dialed in, resulting in precise results when cooking. We tested the yogurt function on several occasions, and the pot always stopped its initial heating phase when the milk temperature reached exactly 180 degrees. We never had to click on the sauté button to get it to reach the optimal temperature.

We also tested its ability to slow cook, making chili with dried pinto beans and beef chuck, and soup with a ham hock and dried cannellini beans. It always produced tender beans and meat in four hours on high.

The steamer function on most multi-cookers isnt really steaming as much as pressure-cooking. The Instant Pot website says the program is designed so that the heating intensity is fast and steep, likely so that the contents of the pot get under pressure as quickly as possible so they dont overcook while the pot preheats.

This Instant Pot has its temperature and pressure sensors dialed in, resulting in precise results when cooking.

When sautéing, we loved how the Instant Pot had three temperatures to choose from: less, normal, and more.
