About Instant Pot Beef Brisket

How to Cook Ground Beef in the Instant Pot – Perfect for Beginners!

Beef brisket is a popular lunch or dinner dish thats often served around the holiday season. Its a great option for feeding a large crowd of people, and youll find that its a cost-friendly dish to serve. However, beef brisket is known for taking hours and hours to prepare, especially when slow cooked in the oven or in a slow cooker. However, thanks to the high pressure of the Instant Pot, it will be ready in a fraction of the time. Youll create perfectly tender beef brisket, which is accompanied by soft onions and forms a delicious gravy.

Option : Saute The Meat

Using the saute function on the Instant Pot, is nearly the same as browning the meat on the stove.

  • Hit the saute function on the Instant Pot and then hit Adjust to change the heat to normal heat.
  • Let the Instant Pot heat for 2-3 minutes. Some models display Hot once heated, some do not, but after a few minutes of time, you can begin to saute the meat.
  • Add in a couple of teaspoons of oil and let the oil heat for 1 minute.
  • Add the ground meat, and allow to cook, breaking the meat up into small pieces as it browns.
  • Once the ground beef is cooked thoroughly, this takes about 6-7 minutes, turn the Instant Pot OFF.
  • Drain off any excess grease and then use as desired. This works great for recipes like Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff, Instant Pot Chili, or Instant Pot Hamburger Helper.

A note to this method–it seems silly to get out your pressure cooker if you are just sauteing your meat , but if you are using it to start another recipe you will finish in your Instant Pot, it is a great method to use!)

How Long Do You Cook A Roast In The Pressure Cooker

The big question!

The short answer? About 1 hour.

The long answer:

How long a roast will need to be pressure cooked depends mostly on how large the roast or the pieces are that you cut it into.

I prefer to cut my roasts into chunks that are approximately 1 lb in size . However, the cook time also depends on the thickness of the pieces, so there has to be some wiggle room.

To be on the safe side, you can always allow for a little extra time pressure cooking the meat I opt for about 1 hour pressure cooking on high for smaller pieces. If your roast is frozen, or it is in one large piece, you will want to add a significant amount of time to ensure that your meat is fall apart tender.

Why I Love Using The Instant Pot

  • Its EASY. With the instant pot, you can sear the roast and saute the onions AND cook it ALL in the same pot. You dont have to dirty 3 different pans to do it. Even a slow cooker cant do that for you. Did I mention cleanup is a snap? It is. SO easy.
  • Its FAST. Beginning to end, we are talking around 2 hours. TOTAL. That is literally a quarter of the time it takes to make.
  • Its DELICIOUS. Honestly, I think this pot roast turns out just as good, if not better, than most slow cooker pot roast recipes I have tried. It is full of flavor and perfectly tender and easy to shred.

How To Make Pot Roast In A Pressure Cooker

In our photos, we are using a 6-quart Instant Pot, which is an electric pressure cooker. Other brands make electric pressure cookers, too. If you own one of them, you should be able to use this recipe without any problems .

Step 1, Season the beef and bring to room temperature. Ive already touched on this above, but Ill quickly do it again, here. After testing, we found that when we left the beef out on the counter to come closer to room temperature before cooking it, the pot roast was much more tender at the end of the cook time. I also love that the beef gets a chance to sit with the salt for about an hour before cooking. In this time, the salt seeps into the meat and helps to season and tenderize it.

Step 2, Brown the beef on all sides. By browning the beef on all sides before cooking at high pressure, we add color to the meat and add lots of flavor to the pot. For a one pot meal, brown the beef right in the pressure cooker using the Saute function. If your pressure cooker does not have this function, simply brown the beef in a heavy pan on the stove. After browning, I remove the beef so I can move onto the veggies.

Step 5, Pressure cook until the beef is tender. As I mentioned above, the time you need to cook will vary depending on how large the piece of beef is that you are cooking. We have found that a 3-pound roast takes 60 minutes at high pressure before it is tender.

Why We Love This Instant Pot Pot Roast

This Instant Pot Pot Roast is so tender it falls apart when you try to take it out. It has such great flavor, that you can even skip the searing if you want .

One thing it is missing? Mushy vegetables.

Vegetables in the Instant Pot cook very quickly, often just a few minutes or less. I wanted to really show off the smooth, creaminess of these Little Potatoes and how quickly they can cook in the pressure cooker.

For this reason, I opted to add my vegetables near the end of the cook time. I know that this is an extra step and you might be wondering if its worth it.

    Trust me.

If you know me, you know Im not into any extra unnecessary steps . But Little Potatoes cook under pressure in just a few minutes, and you really dont want them under high pressure for 60 minutes or more. You can throw them in whole with no washing or peeling , so its not going to inconvenience you too much to add them part way through.

Tips For Making The Perfect London Broil

Making sure the London broil comes out right can be tricky. It may take some trial and error, and I recommend that you take your time with each step and follow the directions carefully your first time through. Try to focus on the London broil as much as possible and not get distracted by trying to make other foods at the same time. Thats a good idea for any food you are making for the first time. Its best to pay close attention to the new dish you are trying to make and not have your attention diverted.

If you find that the meat is not very flavorful when it is done cooking, you can add some salt and pepper or a dry rub to it. Your mistake is probably in the marinade, though. The marinade recipe you used might not be very flavorful, or it might not have had time to soak into the meat, and you will want to marinade the meat for longer next time.

When you marinate meat, be sure to coat all of the meat when you first put it into the bag or container of marinade. I find that a plastic bag works best for marinating, but some people will use a plastic airtight container instead. I think the bag works better at getting the flavor to absorb into the meat because it comes in contact with the meat directly, whereas many of the sides of a plastic container will never come into contact with the meat if you use that method.

Not that smoothie bowls arent delicious or nourishing they are! Green salads on the other hand.

I havent always been sold on the Instant Pot or electric pressure cooker , but at the beginning of the year I set out to really give it a chance and see what all the hype was about.

    Instant Pot Beef Barbacoa

Bring the Mexican restaurant to your home every time you make this homemade beef barbacoa dish.

Its so tasty. Your family will think youve ordered dinner from a restaurant. This barbacoa is delicious and packs some heat too.

Even though beef is used in the recipe, it recommends including some better than bouillon powder.

This vegan bouillon substitute is a tasty way to add flavor to the dish. Of course, you can use regular beef bouillon if you have that on hand.

Looking for the best Instant Pot recipes for beginners? Give this a try!

The final result is beef thats so tender its hard to scoop up with a fork smothered in a thick gravy.

Whats the surprise ingredient? That would be Heinz chili sauce. If youve never used this before, it has a tangy tomato flavor that meshes perfectly with beef.

Ketchup can be used in its place, though youll end up with a sweeter gravy.

Tip: Deglazing the Instant Pot is an important step to help avoid any burned bits in the stew.

Instant Pot Pot Roast With Potatoes

A quick note about adding potatoes, using baby potatoes are totally the way to go. They are the perfect size and they dont get mushy. Potatoes that are peeled and cut tend to get mushy in the Instant Pot when they cook for a longer amount of time. By keeping the skin on and not cutting them, the potatoes cook thoroughly while remaining firm. If you must use peeled diced potatoes and carrots, you will definitely want to release the pressure a few minutes before the regular cooking time, then add the potatoes and cook on high pressure an additional 8 minutes. 30+ minutes is too long to pressure cook diced potatoes.

Shopping For The Perfect Ground Beef

When you go to the market, and you see the hamburger section, it can be so overwhelming with all the choices. Its like a field of options and if you dont understand what all of it means you wont know which way is best for you. Here is a breakdown to help guide you through the ground beef buying process:

    • Regular Ground Beef It can have up to 30 percent of fat content in it.
    • Medium Ground Beef The fat content in medium ground beef is not allowed to have more than 23 perfect fat.
    • Lean Ground Beef When making lean ground beef, it cant be more than 17 percent fat content.
    • Extra Lean Ground Beef This has the least amount of fat content and isnt more than 10 percent.

The choice of ground beef that you buy will depend on your preference for fat content. Low carb / Ketogenetic lifestyle followers will choose a higher fat content ground beef, whereas those who are following a lower-fat diet will obviously choose something closer to the lean or extra lean category.

A higher fat content usually results in more flavor, as the old adage goes Where theres fat, theres flavor. So most people will use more added seasonings to season up the lower fat ground beef.

Coq10 For Cardiovascular Disease And Inflammation Treatment

    INSTANT POT CHUCK BEEF ROAST

CoQ10 improves energy, augments the immune system, and acts as an antioxidant.

Though CoQ10 is produced in humans, supplementation may also be useful especially with aging.

There is evidence that supplementation positively affects mitochondrial deficiency syndrome and the symptoms of aging based mainly on improvements in bioenergetics. Cardiovascular disease and inflammation are alleviated by the antioxidant effect of CoQ10.

Despite the knowledge of the importance of CoQ10, it was hard to track down many studies of where it can be found in food. Placating in fresh fruits and vegetables was thrown around in various mainstream articles, without specifics. Upon further digging, I found that CoQ10 is super high in heart and liver of any animal, most specifically heart!

See the tables below comparing mg of CoQ10 in heart vs liver, muscle meat, vegetables, and grains.

And lucky for us, heart is also inexpensive, easy to prepare, and delicious!

Another win for organ meats, and the traditions of eating every part of the animal.
