Have you been putting off preparing food in your Instant Pot? How long has it been sadly sitting on your kitchen counteror even still in the box collecting dust? Were hoping to help you to be brave today and finally break open the box and make this delicious super-easy vegan Instant Pot pasta for dinner. Its the perfect Instant Pot meal for beginners.

A good friend of mine bought me an Instant Pot for Christmas a few years ago. For the first five or six months, it just sat there, in the kitchen, staring at me with its diabolical, digital doodads and gruesome gadgetry. I dont know what it is about new appliances, but I was actually scared of using this one.

Maybe it was flashbacks of Audrey Hepburns exploding saffron rice , or perhaps the Dalek-like shape of the machine had me in fear for my life? Im not exactly sure why I was so intimidated, but the solution was to just make something. Anything! And I did. This is how I did it.

How To Cook Spaghetti In Instant Pot

Vegetarian Instant Pot Taco Pasta Recipe

There are 2 simple rules of cooking any pasta in Instant Pot.

  • Use only the amount of water that is needed to cover the pasta till its level.
  • Cook Pasta for 1/2 the amount of time in IP from mentioned in the cooking directions on the packet. And then follow QPR
  • So when we are cooking spaghetti in IP, first of all break the spaghetti into halves. Then spread it inside the instant pot in all the directions to avoid sticking. Check this you-tube from my channel to watch how I place my noodles in the IP.

    Pour about 3 cups of water and salt to submerge the pasta just enough at the level.

    Place the lid and lock it. Push the valve back to Close. Pressure cook on high for 3 minutes. Then follow QPR .

    Once safety valve drops down, open the lid. Take a kitchen tong or fork and separate the pasta in case its stuck. This is important step. Spaghetti is ready. If there is little water left, then it is okay. Actually that is good since it keeps the spaghetti moist and works like a sauce when tossed with other ingredients.

    Putting Spaghetti Aglio-e-Olio together

    Further add sauteed garlic along with the olive oil, chopped parsley, black pepper and parmesan cheese to it. Mix it well with kitchen tongs.

    Spaghetti Aglio-e-Olio is ready!

    Once the Instant Pot finishes cooking, it automatically turns on its keep warm function, meaning you can prep your dinner in the morning and come home to a warm meal.

    Finally, as every cheap vegan knows, dried beans are much more economical that canned beans, but normally take a long time to cook. Not with an Instant Pot! You can have fresh cooked beans with great texture in less than an hour.

    2. Quantity Matters: You may not notice it as much in a meat based recipe, but increasing or decreasing the quantity of Instant Pot Vegetarian Recipes can result in uncooked or overcooked food. For delicate vegetables, the quantity can dramatically affect the “get up to pressure” time. Generally, decrease the cooking time when you increase the vegetables’ quantity and vice versa.

    • Preheat time! The Instant Pot needs to come up to pressure before it cooks food. While it has incredibly short cook times, the time to preheat gets tacked on to that every time you use it. The time varies based on the volume of food in the pressure cooker.
    • Whats the timing breakdown? This Instant Pot ramen takes about 10 to 15 minutes to preheat, so add that to everything else and its a little longer than the stovetop version. If you want to soft boil eggs in the Instant Pot, that tacks on another 10 minutes.

    While its not faster: its still valuable to have an Instant Pot version of ramen! Its helpful for when you dont have access to a full kitchen. Its amazing all the food you can make in this relatively small pot with just access to 1 outlet.
