INSTANT POT PORK TENDERLOIN // QUICK AND HEALTHY ONE POT DINNER!

When it comes to choosing the best way to cook pork, there are a few factors that come into play. One of the most important is how long the pork will take to cook, as this affects its flavor and tenderness.

Additionally, pressure cooking can be useful if you dont have a lot of time or want to use a high-pressure setting. either way, its important to choose the right pressure cooker for your needs.

How Do I Even Use An Instant Pot

The Instant Pot is a fancy version of a traditional pressure cooker. When it comes to the Instant Pot and traditional pressure cookers, there are many different models. To start, read through the instructions of your model to learn about the different functions.

Here is a 10-step beginner guide to using an Instant Pot:

  • First, place the bowl into the base of the Instant Pot. After that, add the ingredients .
  • Next, check the lid of your Instant Pot to make sure the sealing ring is in place.
  • Then, secure the lid onto the base.
  • Turn the valve on the lid to SEALING.
  • The next step will differ for each model so check your manual! For my Instant Pot, I press PRESSURE but other models require you to press MANUAL.
  • Press the PLUS or MINUS signs to set the cooking time.
  • The Instant Pot should say ON. When the machine first turns on, it is building pressure. The time that it takes for this pressure to build does NOT count toward the cooking time. On my machine, I know the pressure is built when the silver pin on top is raised.
  • Once the pressure is built, the cooking time will start counting down.
  • After the cooking time is complete, release the pressure. To release the pressure, you can wait for the natural pressure release OR release the pressure manually by turning the valve to VENTING.
  • Lastly, take off the lid once it is unlocked.
  • Can You Use Frozen Pork Tenderloin

You can use a frozen pork tenderloin in this recipe. You will skip the browning step because frozen meat will not sear well. Put the frozen pork tenderloin and sauce ingredients in the Instant Pot. Pressure cook on high pressure for 13 minutes and then allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes.

Alternatively, you can partially thaw the pork tenderloin by placing it in cool water for 10-15 minutes. Once the outside of the pork is thawed you can brown it on sauté in the Instant Pot. Then pressure cook for about 10 minutes on high pressure, followed by a 10 minute natural release. The exact cook time will depend on how frozen the pork is.

What Temperature Should You Cook Pork Loin

    Instant Pot – Pork Tenderloin

When you take the meat out of the Instant Pot you will want to check the internal temperature. This is very important and the easiest way to test it is with a meat thermometer.

Pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Insert the thermometer in the thickest part of the meat to ensure its cooked all the way through.

Its also a good idea to let it for a few minutes before you slice it. This allows the juices to redistribute so they dont run out when you slice it.

Isnt that easy? Using an Instant Pot is such a quick way to cook it! It would take double the amount of time to roast it in the oven I dont know about you, but I dont have time for that on a weeknight!

After your pork and potatoes are cooked to perfection remove them from your pressure cooker and prepare the gravy! Its similar to our Slow Cooker Pork Roast gravy and I know youll love it.

You guys, this gravy is AMAZING. Its savory and slightly sweet and has just the right amount of salt. To prepare it, turn the sauté function on the Instant Pot and whisk in the Worcestershire sauce and then continue whisking in the cornstarch.

The heat is from the saute feature is what activates the cornstarch to thicken, so keep un whisking until it bubbles!

There will be some browned bits on the bottom of the pot from searing the pork. You need to get that up before cooking. Add the water to the pot and use a whisk to scrape the bits up.

This adds great flavor to the broth, which will be used later to make the gravy.

Close the Instant Pot and set it to pressure cook for 45 minutes. This is perfect for a 3 lb roast.

The length of time you need to cook the pork for will vary depending on the size of your roast. It is recommended that you cook a boneless pork roast for 15 minutes per pound in the Instant Pot. Cooking it this long will lead to a sliceable roast, not a fork tender roast.

After the time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then manually release the rest of the pressure.

Why Does Meat Get Tough In A Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot Pork Loin | 03-24-18

When cooking meat in a pressure cooker, it is important to make sure that the meat is cooked through and does not get tough. One reason why this can happen is because the pressure cooker cooks the meat at a much higher temperature than when it is cooked in a stovetop oven or microwave.

This high temperature also causes the proteins in the meat to break down and form connective tissues. As these tissues break down, they can become tougher and more difficult to chew.
