Are you curious about the Ninja Foodi, a pressure cooker, and air fryer combination? Recently I did a Ninja Foodi Review and wanted to share my results with you. It’s an air fryer pressure cooker combo so it piqued my curiosity. I knew I just had to see how it worked. This is my unbiased, non-compensated review of the Ninja Foodi.

I did a full Ninja Foodi review video you can watch to see how I used and cooked with the Ninja Foodi. using it both as a pressure cooker and as an air fryer and how that works in a single device.

Testing The Ninja Foodi

When I received the first Foodi, Id never used an air fryer before, so I also sent a Foodi to my good friend and one of the moderators of my , Genene, to test. Genene loves cooking with her electric pressure cookers and she has a couple of air fryers that she uses on a regular basis in conjunction with her pressure cookers, so I knew shed be able to tell me how the Foodi stacks up.

We both agree that its nice having only one appliance that can do two things, but there are drawbacks as well. The biggest drawback is that the air frying lid / crisping lid is not removable. The crisping lid stays in the open position while youre pressure cooking. Genene felt the crisping lid was in the way when she was using the saute feature to saute vegetables before pressure cooking.

The pressure cooking lid is a separate, detachable lid, so youll need room in your pantry or kitchen to store it.

Additional Functions Of The Instant Pot

The Instant Pot is powered by a sophisticated microprocessor that monitors and adjusts pressure, temperature, time, and heat to cook up to 70% faster than other methods.

The smart lid seals automatically for your peace of mind, and the steam release is as easy as breathing with its fast, safe to push quick releases button. It comes in various sizes, so you can get the exact size for your needs no matter what your needs are.

The Instant Pot is excellent, with over ten safety features and a UL certification that lets you set and forget it. It is robust and made with stainless steel, is dishwasher-safe, and has no chemical coatings at all

The device has a simple one-touch control with 13 pre-programmed functions, and it can also be customized to remember your settings and how you like to cook your various meals.

The list goes on and on with the Instant Pots features. Some models come with Bluetooth and WiFI, and you can download the free Instant Pot recipes app on iOS and Android, which contains over 1000 recipes to get you on your way to creating the most memorable dishes.

Furthermore, you can join the many online communities of Instant Pot users who like to guide, support, and share their knowledge and the joy of cooking.

Where Instant Pot Loses

Ninja Foodi vs Instant Pot – Which is Better? | Product Reviews | Well Done

Giving credit where it’s due, Instant Pot has closed the air frying gap that once put it at a serious disadvantage. It not only offers a variety of crisping models that come with the air frying lid as well as the lid for separate purchase for anyone who already has an Instant Pot, but now offers a model with a single lid that can do it all without swapping lids. That’s nothing special compared to the latest Foodi, which has a similar lid. The way to beat the Foodi would have been to make the lid completely removable rather than making the same mistake of using hinges, which has always been irksome about the Foodi. Small point deduction for that.

The Duo Crisp with the Ultimate Lid is the most similar to the classic Foodi, so it makes the most sense to compare them. While Instant Home did upgrade to 6.5 quarts instead of its usual 6-quart, it doesn’t take as much advantage of the extra cooking space as Ninja does. It only includes one rack that makes it possible to cook two layers at once, while Ninja’s double-tiered rack can do three layers at a time.

What Is An Instant Pot Air Fryer

An instant port air fryer is a kitchen appliance that comes as a pressure cooker, air fryer, slow cooker, rice cooker, and food steamer all in one. The device features stainless steel cooking pot, smart lid, air fryer lid, LCD screen, one-touch control panel, and more advanced features. In addition, the cooking appliance features preprogrammed functions and safety features, ensuring the device cooks without putting you or your family at risk.

It is essential to note that an instant pot air fryer can cook crunchy bacon, rice, vegetable, and steak. You just need to choose the right function or customize the cooking settings for the cooking procedure. For instance, if you want to slow cook, you just need to choose the slow cook function, and the machine will do the rest for you. However, it is advisable to adjust settings manually for best results depending on what you are cooking.

Should An Air Fryer Pressure Cooker Combo

After finishing my Ninja Foodi review, my vote is yes–if you have the room. It is much larger than any of the other pressure cookers out there.

I also vote yes if you make recipes or would like to make recipes that involve first pressure cooking, and then air frying or if you want to brown the tops of desserts or my Gyro Recipe.

I’m very pleased with this purchase and think it will save me a lot of time for those recipes that use both functions. It’s also very roomy.

I was able to cook half a chicken with rice and eggplant with MORE than enough room so this would even be usable by large families.

Which One Should I Buy

While reviewing these two multicookers, it dawned on me just how amazing they are. Both make life in the kitchen easier and let you enjoy high-end foods with the receiving the dreaded check at the end. However, they do look and feel different, so heres my conclusion:

Choose Instant Pot If

  • You want one of the most popular pressure cookers on the market
  • You dont want to spend too much on fancy features
  • You want a yogurt maker
  • You like the idea of pre-set dishes
  • You dont have too much space in your kitchen
  • You want the slow cooking functionality

Choose Ninja Foodi If

  • The air frying feature is important to you
  • You like to cook crispy and healthy foods at home
  • You have space in the kitchen for a bigger device
  • The dehydration function sounds appealing
  • Your budget allows a more expensive purchase

So, if you want to enjoy crispy foods without worrying about the extra fat and its effects on your health, the Ninja Foodi pot is a wonderful choice. On the other hand, if youre more interested in cooking stews, rice, and making yogurt, the Instant Pot DUO series is more down your alley.

While they both have great features, if the price is an important decision factor, then the IP-DUO is the best multicooker for you.

Is The Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Worth It

Instant Pot? Pah! The Ninja Foodi is a pressure cooker, slow cooker and ...

Yes! If you want an air fryer that can do more than air frying, Ninja Foodi is a good option. The cooking appliance can air fry, steam cook, dehydrate, bake, roast, slow cook, broil and sauté. It is a great device that can bring flexibility to your kitchen and work harder for you to make tasty air fryer desserts and more.

Super Useful Instant Pot Accessories

Once youve started using your Instant Pot more regularly, youll find there are so many other ways you *could* be using it, if you had a few extra useful accessories. Here are a few favorites that we use almost every day.

  • All-In Instant Pot Kit a kit, like this 27-piece set, will get you just about everything you will ever need to make whatever you want in the Instant Pot. It includes steamer baskets, a springform pan, a steamer rack, egg rack, egg cutter, egg ring, egg whisk, egg bites mold, dish plate clip, spatula, kitchen tong, silicone pad, scrubber, and oven mitts, magnetic sheets and a recipe book.
  • Stackable Steamer Insert Pans Using stacking containers allows you to cook different foods in separate containers. If youre making a complete dinner, you will be able to cook all the components at the same time, rather than one at a time.
  • Instant Pot Ceramic Inner Cooking Pot I cant express enough how nice it is to have two inner pots. Having an extra will allow you to cook two parts of a meal without transferring and cleaning the original pot after the first step.

Ninja Foodi Accessories

There is also an all-in-one accessories pack for the Ninja Foodi that contains baking pans, egg molds, spatulas, trays and silicon molds.

Another great kit to purchase is the bake kit, which comes with three pans to expand your baking capabilities, like a multi-purpose pan for casseroles and cake, crisper pan for pizzas, quesadillas, and vegetables, and loaf pan for breads.

Why Use A Pressure Cooker

The pressure cooker is one of the most useful kitchen appliances you can buy, because it drastically cuts down on the cooking time for developing flavors in soups and stews, getting tough cuts of meat tender, and even baking a cheesecake. And there are many accessories that will help you get more out of your appliance.

If you dont have one yet, check out our guide on which one to buy. Also see our guide to How to Use an Instant Pot for more information.

Ninja Foodi Vs Instant Pot: Which Should You Buy

For the high-tech buyer: Ninja Foodi

We love the sleek and modern design of the Ninja Foodi, and its extensive range of functions shows that it’s designed with air frying front and center. The machine is hefty, and not easly moved around your kitchen. We also think it’s best suited to those who aren’t restricted by kitchen cabinets, because that hinged lid could cause issues. However, there’s no denying that this is the smarter choice and worth the extra money for most buyers.

For the pressure-cooking traditionalist: Instant Pot

We felt that the Instant was a pressure cooker first and foremost, but it has the option of buying one with a perfectly functional air frying lid, should you want one. If your main priority is making your day-to-day bakes and stews in one easy-clean pot, this lower-cost option is a top choice.

Both Instant Pot and Ninja Foodis multi-cookers would appeal to both chefs who want to use the top-of-the-range cooking devices to try out new recipes and cooking techniques. These multi-cookers would also appeal to those who like batch cooking or food lovers who want to experiment in the kitchen, because you get at least six different kitchen appliances in one machine.

Both multi-cookers offer you the ability to mix up your cooking. You can air-fry one day, warm up food the next day and cook a big pot of rice the following. Plus, these handy kitchen gadgets can save you time.

Its Capabilities Are Vast

Ninja Foodi versus Instant Pot Duo Crisp Comparison

This one-stop-shop appliance can replace several space-stealing appliances. It can sous vide fish, proof dough, dehydrate fruit, ferment yogurt, and countless other tasks that you may not have expected yourself to be capable of at home.

Other multicookers we’ve tested have offered some of these functions, but this machine goes above and beyond in offering a much wider rangeall under one lid.

The previous Foodi multicooker we tested required switching between two lids: one for air frying and crisping, and the other for pressure cooking and steaming. This new model nixes that inconvenience, and replaces it with a SmartLid slider, where you can easily switch between Pressure, SteamCrisp, and Stovetop/Air Fry settings.

And with an interface that I found to be user-friendly and intuitive, navigating the countless cooking functions wasn’t intimidating.

Which Is Easier To Use

Users report how much easier and intuitive it is to navigate the Instant Pots touch panel than it is to use the Ninja Foodi one. This might just be down to preference though, because the latter does come with an informative user manual.

Since they both have such similar functionality, both have great safety features, and both have the capacity to cook small or large meals, its very difficult to say whether one is easier to use than the other. Its more a matter of just learning the different features of each.

Its possible you could give a slight nod to the Instant Pot as being easier, because there are so many more recipes available for use with the Instant Pot. Theres the official website recipes, along with hundreds of other food blogger recipes, like the ones available here on our site. Since these recipes are built especially for the Instant Pot, it can be easier to use them and to find things you want to make.

Thats not to say that you cant make those same recipes in the Ninja Foodi though. They are fairly interchangeable.
