Things I Like About The Instant Pod
There are several functions of this machine I like a lot. Here are some of my favorites:
- Smaller footprint. Since this is a two in one machine , I don’t have to find room on my kitchen counter for two separate gadgets.
- Large water reservoir. I don’t have to fill the water in the machine every day.
- Variety. This gives me the option to make a variety of different espressos and coffees depending on what I’m in the mood for.
- Easy Cleaning. The parts of the Instant Pod that would need to be cleaned frequently are all separate parts, so it is very easy to clean and reassemble.

Would I Buy This
I think the Instant Pod is a great machine for the right person.
I would say you should buy this coffee/espresso maker if:
- You like to drink both coffee and espresso.
- Don’t have room for both a coffee maker and espresso machine.
- Drink a lot of coffee.
- Want to cut down expenses from buying coffee out a lot.
You might decide to pass on this gadget if:
- You only drink coffee or you only drink espresso.

Things I Don’t Like About The Instant Pod
While there aren’t a ton of things I don’t like about this machine, there are things I wish were slightly different about it.
- Temperature. The espresso and coffee that come out of this machine aren’t piping hot like I prefer my coffee to be. It still temps around 160 degrees, so it’s not iced coffee by any means, but I prefer mine to be hotter.
- Buttons. The buttons aren’t press buttons, so they can be temperamental.

Will The Instant Pod Fit Under My Kitchen Cabinets
The height of these appliances is about the same. The Instant Pod coffee maker might be an inch taller than the 6 quart Instant Pot with the lid on.
While the Instant Pod may fit under your kitchen cabinets, it is probably too tall to be functional. Since you have to raise the top to put the pods in, you would need to move it out to put the pods in and move it back under the cabinets.
If you’re looking for the actual dimensions of this espresso/coffee machine, it’s 16.2L x 7.2W x 13.0H in inches.
How Easy Were They To Use
The control panel for the Instant Pod is located at the top of the machines lid. The buttons have touch sensors and are activated by double-tapping them with your finger. This was tricky at first, and I often felt myself, because the buttons were concave, wanting to press and hold them down instead of tap. The lid was also tricky. It felt like you had to force it shut and my husband even said he felt like was breaking the machine. However! It did notbreak and there were design features I really liked about it.
The water reservoir was really easy to remove and reinstall for refilling purposes, and the used espresso pods dropped back down into a removable container that was simple to take out when it came time to throw them all out. The machine also had a tray that flipped down about midway on the machine, which was helpful when I was just making a single shot of espresso and wanted to use a smaller cup.
As for the milk frother, it was easy to toggle between the cold and hot froth settings. I also liked that the lid was removable, for simple cleanup.

Instant Pot Takes On Keurig And Nespresso With Instant Pod Coffee Maker
The pressure cooker company is expanding into coffee pods. So far, the results are messy. Here are our hands-on first impressions.
Coffee pods are convenient, sure, but typically you have to choose between two brewing systems: You either go with Keurig or Nespresso, since the brewers are not compatible. The $119 Instant Pod is built to change that. This flexible coffee maker, created by the inventors of the Instant Pot multicooker, accepts both popular brands of coffee capsules.
Instant Pod can make coffee drinks in multiple sizes, from big travel mugs down to tiny 2-ounce espresso shots. The Instant Pod also works fast, slinging individual cups of joe in little over a minute. Despite its strengths, this machine isn’t for everyone. If you’re a coffee snob like me, there’s nothing the Instant Pod can do to elevate the coffee pod beyond its typically bland results.
Compared to other coffee pod machines, the Instant Pod mostly works well enough, but I had two messy experiences with two different units. My first review sample made a mess of one coffee pod the second one leaked water all over my kitchen table. I’m talking with Instant Pot to find out more, but so far I’m not sold on the quality control behind this machine.

While the machine is slim in design, it has six one-touch buttons for brewing different drink sizes, including 2-ounce, 4-ounce and 6-ounce cups for espresso and 8-ounce, 10-ounce and 12-ounce cups for coffee. And, it features a large 2-liter water reservoir on the back so that you wont have to refill it every day .
To use, simply insert your favorite K-cup or Nespresso capsule, choose your preferred cup size and within a few seconds, youll have a steaming hot cup of fresh brew. The Instant Pod also works with re-usable pods that hold ground coffee and loose tea leaves if youre trying to cut back on plastic waste.
Its important to note that Nespresso Vertuo machines also brew both coffee and espresso, however, they use larger capsules than the original espresso-only machine. The Instant Pod uses the smaller original Nespresso capsules, which actually offer more espresso options than the Vertuo capsules. Additionally, as far as coffee goes, theres also a lot more K-cup varieties than Vertuo capsule options, too.
So, if you really like a variety of espresso, but also like to have a classic cup of joe, the Instant Pod seems to have a leg up on the Nespresso Vertuo and Keurig machines, based on variety and options.
Since launching on Aug. 26, the Instant Pod has received 65 reviews on Walmart, with 45 reviewers giving it 5 out of 5 stars.
While there seems to be plenty of Instant Pod Coffee & Espresso Makers still in stock, the milk frothers seem to be selling out quick.

With a touch of a button, the Instant Pod will heat water to the optimal temperature to brew your coffee, espresso, tea, or cocoa.
We did a brief test run and recorded a temperature of 185°F on our test machine.
For Nespresso pods, you can choose between 2oz, 4oz, and 6oz. For K-cups, you can choose between 8oz, 10oz, and 12oz coffee size!
The water tank is 68 oz in size and will allow you to make roughly 5 8 cups of coffee or 10 34 cups of espresso.
On our brief testing, the Instant Pod coffee maker seems super easy to use. All we had to do is fill up the water reservoir tank, insert a K-cup or Nespresso pod, turn on the machine, then select our desirable serving size.
