Pressure Cooking Chicken Tips
- Cooking time: It only takes 8 minutes to perfectly pressure cook boneless skinless chicken. If the pieces of chicken are thin you could even cook it for 7 minutes and the chicken will be cooked completely.
- Checking the chicken: When in doubt remove the chicken from the hot pot and use an instant read thermometer to check. Stick it into the thickest piece of the chicken. The chicken is done once it has reached an internal temperature of 165 F. degrees or higher.
- Chicken pieces: Cook whole pieces of chicken. Cut or shred the chicken after it has pressure cooked. Contrary to what you may have read you can over cook chicken in a pressure cooker. Smaller cut pieces of chicken can over cook and have a dry and rubbery unappetizing texture.

How To Thicken Chicken Stew
A stew should have a rich broth thats thicker in consistency compared to a soup. If you noticed yours is on the watery side you can thicken it up in 1 of 2 ways:
Thicken it with flour or cornstarchIn a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon corn starch or flour with 1 tablespoon cold water. Whisk them together until smooth and add it to stew after you add in the peas and cream. As the peas heat through, the stew will also thicken.
Mash some of the potatoesOnce the stew is finished cooking, youve added the peas and cream, use a large spoon to remove some of the potatoes out of the chicken stew onto a bowl or plate. Using a fork or the back of the spoon, mash them up and return them into the pot. The released starches will help thicken the broth.

Pulled Pork Instant Pot Faqs
What cut of pork should I use in this recipe?
The best cut of pork to use in this recipe is a boneless pork shoulder roast, also known as a pork butt or Boston butt. This cut of pork is well-marbled and has a good balance of meat and fat, which makes it ideal for slow cooking and shredding. It has a good amount of collagen, which when cooked low and slow, turns into gelatin, making the meat tender and juicy.Another cut of pork that can be used is a pork picnic roast. This cut is similar to the pork shoulder roast, but it has a bone in it, which can add more flavor to the dish.
How should I serve pulled pork?
This style of meat is so versatile! Its great on a sandwich with a little coleslaw and baked beans on the side, as a taco, on nachos, mixed in with mac and cheese to create a fun bowl, or even on its own next to some potato skins! There are tons of possibilities and because it reheats so well, youve got plenty of options for leftovers!

Then, turn the pressure release valve carefully to allow the steam to release. Once all the pressure is out, it is safe to open the lid.

There is so much to like about this easy chicken stew recipe! Heres why it is one of our favorites:
- Quick & easy This stew takes less than 30 minutes to make, meaning youll have a healthy dinner in no time!
- Lean protein I use boneless skinless chicken breasts in this recipe, which are lean and high in protein !
- Loaded with veggies I load this soup up with a ton of carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, and peas. The more veggies the better in my opinion!
- Made in one pot One-pot meals are great for weeknights because it means less clean up and this stew all comes together in your instant pot!
Add The Potatoes Chicken And Cook
Once your veggies are sautéed, add the potatoes, chicken, salt, black pepper, ranch seasoning mix, and chicken broth to the Instant Pot. Then stir everything together. All the ingredients need to be fully submerged and covered in liquid, so if they arent, just add a little more broth.
Next, close the lid on your Instant Pot and set the valve to the sealing positing. Now, set the IP to manual setting and set the timer to 8 minutes. Yet, after you do this it will take the Instant Pot about 10-15 minutes to come to pressure before you see it starting to cook and the timer counting. So dont worry, just be patient. It is doing its thing.

How To Store Leftovers
Chicken stew leftovers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Or they can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Make sure to store stew and sides in different containers.
To reheat from the freezer, I recommend putting it in the fridge the night before to thaw. If youre in a rush, you can heat up the frozen stew in a small pot on the stove but youll need to add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water or broth to avoid scorching.
What Exactly Is A Stew
A stew is a dish of meat and vegetables cooked slowly in liquid in a closed dish or pan. Even though this dish isnt technically cooked slowly, it sort-of feels like it is thanks to the power of the pressure cooker feature on the instant pot. Its also thick and hearty so I thought this title was very fitting.
Besides the weeknight appeal, stews are also one of the best meals for entertaining. Pair this with some warm bread and a salad kit and you have yourself a crowd-pleaser of a meal.
