How To Cook Salmon In The Instant Pot
There are two methods for cooking salmon in the Instant Pot. Whichever one you try, use this general timing: five minutes at high pressure. You’ll also want to make sure you follow the one cut of liquid rule. In order to come to pressure, most Instant Pots require about one cup of liquid. If your Instant Pot is not coming to pressure, try adding a touch more liquid.
The two methods? Saucing and steaming. For either method, after everything is in the pot, lock the lid, and set it to high pressure for five minutes. When the pot indicates that it is done, manually release the pressure and unlock the lid. Remember to season the salmon with salt and pepper. In the event that you open the pot and decide you’d like the fish more well done, just relock the lid and set the pot to high pressure for another minute. Check and repeat if necessary.

What Is Salmon Chowder
Salmon Chowder is a hearty chunky & a very comforting soup thats cooked with nutrient rich veggies like onion, leek, potatoes & carrots in a milk or cream based white sauce with lots of juicy fresh or canned Salmon pieces.
It may or may not contain thickeners like roux. Todays Alaskan Salmon Chowder recipe is cooked in New England Style. Its not dense or thick but slightly on the thinner side as Rhode Islanders prefer.
Note: Salmon Chowder or any Chowder recipe does not have to have leek, but onions are mandatory. Leek is my personal preference. You may skip using it & replace the same amount with chopped white or yellow onion.

Which Type Of Salmon Is Best
When shopping for fish, be sure to look for wild-caught Alaskan salmon. In many cases, farmed salmon can be exposed to more chemicals than the wild-caught variety, and because the farmed salmon is fed high-fat feed to produce larger fish, it also tends to be higher in fat and calories than the wild caught variety.

Cooking Frozen Salmon In An Instant Pot
Both fresh and frozen fish are always part of my dinner rotation, but each have their own pros and cons. Fresh fish is almost always more expensive, but fresher, thicker, and heartier than frozen cuts. Frozen fish is incredibly convenient, but lacks a little of the flavor and bulk of a fresh fillet.
Fresh fish is almost always at least two inches thick and requires 4-5 minutes of cook time than the thinner frozen variety, so keep that in mind while cooking.
Frozen salmon filets in the Instant Pot require only 2-4 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish.

Can I Cook Vegetables At The Same Time In The Instant Pot
Yes, sort of. Vegetables turn to MUSH if you cook them at high pressure for 3 minutes.
So, instead of cooking the fish for the full 3 minutes, I recommend cooking it for just 1 minute, then quickly releasing the pressure, removing the lid, and adding your vegetables on top. Secure the lid again then use the manual setting to cook on high pressure for 0 minutes and when the timer beeps again, quickly turn the pressure release valve to venting to release the pressure again. Everything should be cooked perfectly that way!
When cooking salmon in the Instant Pot Ive found that I cant get much flavoring to stick to the salmon, so I prefer to whip up a seperate sauce in my blender while its cooking away.
