Below is a guideline based on the size of your Instant Pot and how long you cook them for. Timing and consistency may change depending on the size of your Instant Pot.

Generally speaking in 6 quart Instant Pot:

  • 5 minuteswill give you sold egg whites with a firmer yolk.
  • 4 minuteswill give you soft egg white with a slightly runny, soft yolk
  • 3 minuteswill give you soft whites with a runny yolk .
  • 2 minutes will give you soft white with a very runny yolk.

Your Instant Pot size matters! In 8 quart Instant Pot cook on Low Pressure for 4 minutes. If you dont have low pressure, you can try 2-3 minutes on High Pressure. A larger pot takes longer to build up pressure, so it may come out a bit overcooked. Test and see!

I purchased my silicone egg bite mold online. There are a number of different types including some that come with a trivet with longer handles which make removal from the Instant Pot easier.

How To Release Egg Bites From The Mold

Despite the silicone mold being non-stick and using a cooking spray, I recommend to grab a small silicone spatula and go around the edges and bottom really tight and close to the mold. This will result in perfectly looking egg bites.

To be able to pop egg bites out of the mold, you would have to wait a few hours for egg bites to cool off. Like a very long time, if you ask me.

When I was first starting with the pressure cooker, I made Egg Muffins with individual silicone molds. I liked to use the muffins to make Egg Muffin croissant sandwiches.

The egg muffins reheat really well. I had one for breakfast the next day with a slice of toast, and it kept me satisfied until a late lunch.

If you prefer to make bigger muffins filled with more veggies, try making them in glass custard cups. I plan to try that soon.

Yup, you do. First, you need an Instant Pot or other electric pressure cooker. A 6 quart or 8 quart is best, the silicone molds dont fit in a 3 quart one.

Second, this recipe uses two layers of silicone egg bite molds, however you can easily half the recipe and create one layer, too. I like using this silicone egg mold set , but any set will do. Egg White & Red Pepper Bites

I wanted to recreate the popular Starbucks flavor by using egg whites and roasted red pepper, but something interesting happened the first time I tested this recipe the ingredients all floated to the top of the mold, as pictured above.

That means all of the toppings were on the bottom of the egg bite, leaving the rest of the egg bite totally plain. This didnt happen with my other egg bites using the whole egg only the egg whites.

You can get around this by adding your veggies, or other add ins, to the mold first, then pouring the egg white mixture over the top to fill the mold. The spinach still sometimes floats to the top, but the other ingredients disperse better!

Ive included two more flavor variations in the recipe below a simple Gruyere version , and a pizza version made with sun-dried tomatoes. I hope youll enjoy them!

Can I Put The Lid Of My Egg Bite Molds In The Instant Pot

Yes, only if it is made of silicone. The egg bite mold is made of silicone, so if your lid is also made of that, you will be able to put it in the Instant Pot. I recommend lightly putting the lid on your egg bite molds so that it will keep all the moisture out.

I prefer using it over foil. If you have a plastic lid, it can only be used for storage such as freezing items such as baby food.

Yes, you can stack the silicone molds in the instant pot. First, make sure you place the first one onto a trivet. Also, make sure they are both covered, whether with the lid or with foil.

After that, stack them and cook the recipe using the cooking time mentioned in the recipe card. Stacking the molds does not change the cooking time, more often it will contribute to the instant pot coming to pressure a bit longer.

Storing And Reheating Egg Bites

Leftover egg bites can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. So you can make extras and enjoy them throughout the week.

Warm an egg bite or two up in the microwave. Start heating them up for about thirty seconds and add more time if necessary.

If you would like to store them longer, you can freeze them for several months. Freeze them separately first then add them to a bag once frozen.

Defrost the egg bites overnight before reheating them. That way they can warm through without getting overcooked on the outside.

Tips For Making Copycat Starbucks Egg Bites

The silicone mold is key to getting the authentic look of the Starbucks egg bites, but you could cook the egg mixture in another small ramekin or glass jar if you need to.

Make sure to read the notes below my recipe for cooking time suggestions if you use a larger container.

Keep in mind that Starbucks adds quite a bit of cheese, and some starch, to their egg bites to give them a unique texture. I found them to taste more cheese-like than egg-like when I tried the real ones myself , so Ive cut back on that in this recipe to lighten them up.

I also left out the starch because I didnt want to order that from a specialty store. Breakfast shouldnt be that complicated, right? However, if you want to play with adding starch to your egg bites for a texture exactly like Starbucks, go for it!
