Binge on them of course. Dehydrated oranges, orange chips, or dried oranges are fantastic as a fruit snack. You can make a big batch of them and then use them for movie nights, days out, school lunches and so much more.

You can also reserve your oranges that you have dehydrated in the air fryer for decorative purposes or use them in cocktails.

Pressure Cooker Chicken Recipe

  • 1 pound Chicken Breast Meat
  • 1 Small Potato
  • 1¼ cups Fat-free Chicken Broth or Water with Bouillon
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 Onion Slice, separated into rings
  • 1 Clove Garlic, cut into pieces
  • 1 Lemon Slice, cut into four pieces and squeezed
  • Fresh Herbs: I use two sprigs each of Rosemary, Basil and Parsley. Dried herbs can be used if fresh are not available.
  • Ground Pepper as desired

After preparing the potato broth and chicken as previously described, add the rest of the ingredients to the pressure cooker and stir, pushing the herbs down into the liquid and distributing the lemon juice.Pressure cook for ten minutes once high pressure is reached.Set pot aside and allow pressure to release on its own rather than using a quick pressure release. It took ten minutes for the pressure to release from my Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker. Had I wanted a quick release, I would have simply pushed down on the gauge with a long spoon.

Making Herbal Lozenges And Candy

Herbal candy and lozenge making begins by making a strong decoction of herbs in water. This can be done easily in a sauce pan on the stove top. But the Instant Pot keeps the kitchen cool and uses less energy in the process than the stove top. Once the strong decoction is strained, it can be returned to the instant pot to be cooked into candy. Use the glass lid for this process so you can see the syrup cooking. Use the saute setting for higher temperatures for candy making. A candy thermometer easily attaches to the side of the insert, once the lid is remove in the last stages of candy making.

Can You Dehydrate Oranges

Yes, you can. Oranges are among many fruits that you can easily dehydrate. Even better, many of the citrus fruit family can be dehydrated together, giving you the option to mix and match.

Such as doing dehydrated oranges at the same time as our dehydrated limes or make it more fun with some dehydrated grapefruit.

Though do consider the size of your citrus fruit if doing in a batch that everything is of similar size or the smaller pieces are removed first.

How To Make The Best Instant Pot Ribs

Now you can air fry in an Instant Pot®!

Unlike other rib cooking methods, which take hours and require active tending, making ribs in the Instant Pot is hands free and comparably fast. The Instant Pot locks in moisture and makes the ribs tender in a fraction of the time.

In addition to the use of the Instant Pot itself, I have a few key tips to ensure your Instant Pot rib efforts are richly rewarded.

  • Use a Dry Rub. To start your ribs on a delicious note, cover them generously with a delicious dry rub.

The rib rub recipe Ive included here uses basic pantry staples you probably already have, like chili powder, garlic powder, and cayenne, to give the ribs loads of flavor. If youd like to make the ribs more spicy, feel free to bump up the amount of cayenne.

To balance the spice, I also add brown sugar to my Instant Pot Ribs rub. I grew up loving the brown sugar/molasses flavor of Kansas City BBQ, and the brown sugar reminds me of some of my favorite KC BBQ joints.

The amount of brown sugar isnt overly sweet by any means. Youll love it here.

  • Liquid Smoke. It might sound fancy, but liquid smoke is widely available at most grocery stores . You can also buy it online.

Please dont skip the liquid smoke. Because we are cooking the ribs quickly , the liquid smoke provides flavor that youd typically only get via longer cooking methods .

The two more common types of ribs are baby back ribs and spare ribs.

How The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Works

If youre used to Instant Pots multi-cookers, cooking with this lid will feel pretty comfortable. It doesnt lock onto the base like the pressure-cooking lid, but you will still get the same musical alert when it is placed on the base correctly. When cooking you won’t be able to see into the base of the pot, but you are able to take the lid off to check on the progress of your food mid-way through. The lid is a little heavy , so you don’t have to worry about it moving around during cooking. It’s important to note that you cannot turn on the air fryer lid and Instant Pot base at the same time . Temperature, time and cooking features are all programmed through the lid. Make sure you have a stainless steel inner pot to place the air fryer basket into the air fryer lid is not compatible with a nonstick ceramic insert.

How Food Dehydrator Works

Just a recap, a dehydrator is an electrical machine that dissipates the moisture content of whatever is inside. It comes with trays, heating elements, vents, and fans for circulation.

The dehydrators heating element can raise the temperature inside the machine, which evenly circulates the heat. This removes moisture while the trays hold the food you wish to dry.

Of course, the use of dehydrators in actual use goes into many details. You just cant cut your food, toss them in the machine, shut the door, and say work!

Well, those details are too far from their actual use.

Dehydrators comprise a temperature scale that you need to know which temperature settings are the most appropriate for each food.

In fact, there are timetables for how long you need subject-specific food to get the perfect hydration.

There are many dehydration machines out in the market, so you need to know what to look for and what to avoid.

Shaping The Instant Pot Bread

Now, this is very crucial. I made two types of bread in terms of shape one as a boule and the other as separate rolls. Although both baked well, the rolls were better. Baking the whole boule takes longer and sometimes can remain undone from the center, and then, you have to put it back in the instant pot.

Though, that should not happen if you follow this instant pot bread recipe as such.

Still, I like to shape my instant bread as separate rolls. If you are a first-timer, I suggest you do the same.

So, I divide the dough into seven equal parts. Then, I roll each ball into a roll by smoothing the surface and tucking the edges underneath.

Cooking Spaghetti Fettuccini Or Linguini In The Instant Pot

Instant Pot Dehydrating Fruit

Long, straight pasta like spaghetti, fettuccini, and linguini can be a bit finicky to cook in the Instant Pot. The method for cooking these is slightly different than other shapes, though the cook time remains the same.

  • Break the pasta strands in half before adding them to the Instant Pot so that they can easily be submerged in water.
  • Pour water into the Instant Pot to completely cover the pasta .
  • Do not stir before cooking. Resist the urge to stir the pasta.
  • Pressure cook pasta according to the time on the chart.
  • Leave pasta on natural release for 5 minutes and then release any remaining pressure.
  • After cooking, stir the pasta well to insure the strands are not stuck together.
  • Drain well.

What Is The Ratio Of Beans To Water In The Instant Pot

When cooking beans in the Instant Pot, youll use 2 1/2 cups of water for every 1 cup of dry beans. Ive tried using less than that, but since beans expand as they cook, the ones that arent fully submerged in liquid will cook unevenly.

You can definitely use more water, if you want to, but its not necessary for pinto beans. Since this recipe calls for seasoning, you wont want to dilute the flavor any more, either.

How To Proof Dough In The Instant Pot

Step 1: Brush a light coating of OLIVE OIL inside the Instant Pot .

Step 2: Place dough in the pot and flip it around enough to pick up oil from the pot. Rest the dough seam side down, tucking the sides under to tighten it into a firm ball.

Step 3: Rest any lid on top of the pot. Do not create an tight seal because air needs to escape.

Step 4: SelectYogurt button and toggle the “Adjust” button to the “Less” setting and allow dough to double in size .

Note: The display timer defaults to 24:00 hours. Adjusting is optional and is done with the “+ or -” buttons. I prefer to leave it alone and use a separate 45 minute reminder .

What Kind Of Toppings And Seasonings Should I Use

There are a bunch of options with seasonings.

Just a little bit of salt is one of my favorite ways to snack on my banana chips. But you can try:

    • Changing up the salt.
    • Vary spices like ground cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, paprika.
    • Use cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or chipotle to add some heat
    • If you have a sweet tooth then add melted chocolate, cardamom, or cinnamon sugar at the end to make them sweeter.
    • soak in water with lemon water instead of salt & turmeric.

Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer Deer Jerky Recipe

An instant pot is a modern and versatile appliance that can work on a series of multi-use appliances, consisting of specific use to fit a wide array of kitchen and users.

As a multicooker, it can replace more than 7 appliances in the regular kitchen since it has a wide range of cooking options with the same method of cooking style.

For instance, it can work as a pressure cooker, saute pan, rice cooker, and many more. It uses water or broth to create steam and build pressure within the cooking pot. It works oppositely with a dehydrator.

Meanwhile, a dehydrator is an electrical machine that gets rid of the moisture content of whatever is inside the machine. It is equipped with trays, heating elements, vents, and a fan for circulation.

Its heating element raises the temperature inside the machine, producing an evenly distributed heat, which removes moisture while the tray holds the food item you wish to dehydrate.

    Final Thoughts On Freeze

While the invention of multipurpose cooking tools, like the Instant Pot, is here to make your life easier, it cant do everything for you.

Freeze-drying is its own unique process that requires a special machine in order for it to be done properly.

Despite having a similar concept to dehydrating, which extracts moisture from the food, freeze-drying cant be done in a dehydrator or an air fryer either. T

To summarize, freeze-drying is no easy feat. It takes a bit of time and financial investment, which will pay off if you do it often enough. Being passionate about the process and believing it will improve your lifestyle can also help make it worthwhile.

But if youve got the space for all the devices? Your kitchen can be a truly amazing place and your meals can be fresh, delicious culinary delights all year-round. Why Proof Bread In An Instant Pot

The Instant Pot creates the ideal environment for proofing. Here’s how. When you proof yeast dough at an average room temp of 72°F, it can easily take a few hours to properly proof. The pressure cooker “yogurt” setting, intended for incubating yogurt, provides a steady temperature around 90°F. This proofs dough more efficiently, causing it to double in size in only 45 minutes!

Instant Pot proofing is also convenient because you can set it, walk away, and know that’s it’s doing its job, even in a chilly or drafty environment. Ultimately, the Instant Pot expedites the proofing process, allowing us to enjoy our baked goods sooner.

Proofing Dough In The Instant Pot

Proofing Dough in the Instant Pot creates the perfect environment to accelerate the dough rising process for yeast bread and baked goods. It makes dough unbelievably puffy, soft, and pliable in about half the time room temperature proofing takes. Perfect for Instant Pot beginners too!

Note: this article focuses on proofing yeast dough, not sourdough. We’ll tackle that in another article.

Combining All The Dry And Wet Ingredients

Now combine all the dry and wet ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Keep mixing them until the dough comes together and no dry patch of dough is left. You can use the back of a wooden spatula to do that.

Now, cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes.

This process is called autolyze. It helps in gluten development.

Should You Buy A Dedicated Dehydrator

How to Cook Dry Egg Noodles

Our kitchen experts agree that if you plan on doing a lot of food dehydrating, a dedicated dehydrator is well worth the investment.

Purchasing a dehydrator in addition to your standard air fryer is generally cheaper than springing for one of the combination models listed above. Dedicated dehydrators are also more efficient that attempting dehydration with a standard air fryer in which dehydration is not a preset option.

The drawback of purchasing a dedicated dehydrator is the countertop or storage space necessary for housing the additional appliance. Dehydrators generally have a large footprint greater than 12 inches.

If you decide that dehydrating is for you, we recommend the following options.

Test : Which Is The Best Mode To Bake Bread In An Instant Pot: Bake Or Pressure Cook

It will be the most crucial test and affect the outcome greatly. And unfortunately, there is no straight answer as to which is better?

    Bake Mode:

Without a doubt, the bread made in BAKE mode had a better crust and overall was a better bread. I am a crust person, and I liked the crust of this bread.

But many of you who do not have the BAKE function, might not even have the option to try it. But if you have bake mode, use that.

    Pressure cook Mode:

Making the pressure-cooked bread in an Instant Pot is a challenge in itself. But let me keep that aside and talk about the bread. The pressure-cooked bread had a more crusty exterior. I think it has something to do with the moisture inside the pan. I did not use the container that has an airtight lid. The foil allowed some moisture to enter into the bowl, which causes a more gelatinized surface, which eventually became super crispy when browned in an oven.

Overall, it was a moist and delicious bread.

Why bake-mode makes better bread than pressure cook mode in an Instant pot?

Because firstly, making the bread in bake mode is much easier and hassle-free than in pressure cook mode. To pressure cook bread in an Instant pot, you have to find the right size of tightly lidded steel utensil that does not narrow toward the top. It was a challenge for me. So I decided to go with a steel bowl and sealed it with multiple layers of foil tightly.

Thirdly, I liked the crust on the baked bread much better than that on the pressure-cooked one.
