Say youre cooking a cheesy bacon casserole in the Instant Pot and chicken or chickpeas in the air fryer, says Maguire. Then the air fryer would win this challenge. On the other hand, if the bacon is going in the air fryer and youre making a veggie soup in the Instant Pot, then the healthy meter goes in the other direction.

I must admit that The Instant Vortex mini air fryer is the perfect device for small families. Its not only one of the smallest on the market but also one of the most lightweight options making it easy to store and transport.
I was quite surprised because This particular model comes with two different racks which is perfect if you want to cook multiple items at once or even cook something larger like a chicken. The top rack has a mesh basket design which is great for smaller items like french fries while the bottom rack is more suited for larger pieces of food.
One of the drawbacks of this appliance is that it doesnt have a digital display like some of the other models on our list. This means that you wont be able to set a timer or see how long your food has been cooking. However, it does come with an automatic shut off feature which kicks in once the cooking time is up.
As this is such a small appliance, it doesnt use as much oil as some of the other models on our list. This means that youll be using less oil overall and your food will be healthier as a result.
I think The Instant Vortex mini air fryer is one of the most affordable options on our list making it perfect if youre on a budget. Its also one of the easiest models to use thanks to its simple design and lack of advanced features.

How We Tested Air Fryers
What is the first thing you think of when you consider air fryers? Chips, of course, so our homemade fries test was crucial.
The key to crisp fries was to peel and soak the potatoes in cold water for half an hour to remove starch, before drying thoroughly. We used Maris Piper potatoes for all.
We looked at the manuals for each model and followed their directions for cooking temperature, time and the quantity of oil needed. If the type of oil wasn’t specified them we used vegetable.
Anything from the size of the cut to the variety of potato can make a difference here, so itâs always good to gauge things halfway through the time. But for the purpose of the test, we shook ingredients only when prompted too and scored the appliance based on its performance.
We tested the air fryers using set criteria and scored each one on the following core areas out of five. The average of all determined the overall star rating they achieved:
Quality of foodTo ensure fairness, we initially cooked chips in every fryer we tested. We looked at how evenly they âfriedâ and whether they were brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

We looked for fryers with clear, simple instructions, so we could get them out of the box and cooking our dinner as quickly as possible. Mini ovens are the perfect appliance for making multiple cooking functions achievable without hob or main-oven access, or for offering extra cooking capabilities to your kitchen by simply plugging into the wall.
This new model from Cuisinart comes with a baking tray, oven rack and air fryer basket for using across the oven’s seven functions: keep warm, panini and toasties, grill, toast, roast, bake and air fry. The four controls are relatively easy to use although we needed to refer back to the instruction manual to decipher the icons which are quite small.
The manual was easy to follow and offered useful guidance on how to get the best from the accessories. Baking functions in air frying gadgets are often tricky to master, but we got a great rise from the apple and almond cake which was moist and soft inside, making this a memorable stand-out from this mid-range mini oven.
